A poster or original of a four colour lino and letterpress print, showing the beautiful St Mary's Church in Hitchin, England. This is a unique piece of artwork, whether you love the style of these traditional yet modern prints or have special memories of the town. This print shows the church in its riverside setting; it has stood for more than 1200 years, with the earliest beginnings of a Benedictine monastery founded on its site in 792 AD by King Offa. It is the largest parish church in Hertfordshire, and many people enjoy the beautiful interior as a place of peace and worship. It may bring back memories of a wedding, magical winter carol services or happy hours with children feeding the ducks along the riverbank- I hope that my artwork will mean something to the people who love the church. The print is part of a series of pieces of artwork based on scenes in and around Hitchin, in which I wanted to celebrate my favourite parts of the town I was brought up in. Reviving the traditional techniques of linocutting, the original prints were made from drawings which I transferred to lino, and made using the reduction technique in three or four colours. Finished with lettering hand printed using vintage letterpress type, the original prints for the St Mary's Church print were limited to a run of 20. I hope they will resonate with others who love the church too, as well as those who appreciate the unique nature of a linocut print. The print sold in this listing is a high quality digital reproduction of the original artwork on 300gsm card, made as a poster in either A3 or A4 (select your size when ordering). While stock is available you can also purchase a limited edition, signed and numbered handprinted original. Your choice can be made on the order page. All prints will be sent with a cardboard backing in a clear compostable sleeve.

‘We bought the view and the house came with it,’ says Sue Roberts, indicating south-west towards a broad chalk valley, along which run the clear waters of the River Chess. When she and her husband, Richard, moved here in 2016, however, there was much to be done — or, rather, undone to the Georgian property. …
