Altenew has a WOW! inspiration for us this month for their Inspiration Challenge. I have 2 cards today, inspired by its summery orange and pinks. supplies: white, black, 3 shades of pink, 3 shades of orange, yellow, and green cardstock, Altenew Hibiscus Garden 3D dies, Neat & Tangled Tropical Leaves stencil, sentiment from a retired Simon set I used bright pink and orange colors to make my flowers, with bright green leaves. In looking at the inspiration, I noticed that it was set against black, so I tried that, and liked that the colors really pop against it. THEN I remembered this tropical leaves stencil, so I "embossed" it onto my black background. It was hard to get a good picture of it, because it's subtle.......you can see it best in the upper right corner, but irl the whole background has this detail. So that you can see the embossing better, I messed around with my editing program......this next one shows the details, but the colors got skewed a bit. And one more pic, closer, to show the embosssed stencil. Next, I decided to play with my all-time favorite Altenew stamp set, Painted Flowers - this is the first time I've colored the outline image with markers instead of using the layering stamps. supplies: white and black cardstock, Altenew Painted Flowers stamps, colored with Nuvo Creative markers, sentiment die from their Flower Arrangement set, Simon retired "summer" stamp, sequins to match Here's the inspiration photo: Thanks for visiting today - have a great one!
I've been looking forward to playing with the Artistically Inked Bundle, and today is the day. The fact that it's on the cover of the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog is an indication that it
Oh. My. Gosh! Can we just take a minute to look at this card...…..WOW! In person the colors are more vibrant and they're a little sparkly because I painted them all with Wink Of Stella. Doesn't it look like stained glass. SOOOOOO pretty!!! The card really isn't hard to make, but you need to dedicate some TIME to make it. This is not the card you're going to mass produce or send out 100 of. I used Stampin' Blends to color all the flower petals. There's lots of blending and I kept the colors darker in the center and lighter as the petals expanded. I did the same with the leaves. All the petals are popped up on Dimensionals, except for the smaller flowers and the leaves. Those I stuck down with Tombow. The centers were all colored with blends after it was assembled. So how did I do it? I started by die cutting the flower from white cardstock. BEFORE it was removed from the die I put some press and seal on the back and then carefully pulled off the die and the detailed outline. Not all the centers stayed and that's ok, we don't need those. I've been using press and seal in my stamp room for years. I have a box dedicated to my craft room that I keep in my closet. With the flowers all stuck down to the press and seal it was easy to go through and color them on the press and seal. I used some Adhesive Sheets for the black detailed outline and stuck that on my card. With the black outline on it was easy to go through and stick the petals in. I used my Take Your Pick tool for little pieces. I used Mini Dimensionals on the larger petals directly on the card then stuck the petal to them. I love the final card. It's so gorgeous!! I have made more cards in the last 6 days than I have made in the last six weeks!! Sheesh!! I got a box full of preview products and I guess being locked down due to the Coronavirus, I had a head FULL of inspirational ideas. I've been having a great time making each and every piece! First up in the Fun Fab Friday Challenge is this watercolor bouquet I created using the Many Layered Blossoms Dies. I first cut the more detailed layer of the Blossoms Dies out in watercolor paper. I taped the image down to the mat on my table with another piece of watercolor paper. Then I went to work. Since this challenge is a color challenge, I proceeded to use an Aquapainter to watercolor over the detailed die to bring the bouquet to life. Since the scrap paper under the die I had tried this on the first time around turned out so cool looking, I decided to make a more concerted effort to "paint" over the die to come up with a water colored bouquet. Since I don't actually use the cutout die itself on this card, I decided to save that cut out die image to put on another card front. Stamps: Lovely You Paper: Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Watercolor Ink: Black Memento, Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, Call Me Clover, Pineapple Punch Accessories: Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Many Layered Blossoms Dies, Aquapainter, 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots See??? The cutout die image looked so pretty after I used it as a mask to create the stenciled look on the last card, I decided to follow through with the larger die by watercoloring it with the piece that was leftover from watercoloring the first card and put both pieces down on a stark black background. I can't even remember the last time I ever did a one layer card with NO extra layers! Slap on a sentiment and you are DONE! Stamps: Lovely You Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Watercolor Ink: Black Memento, Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, Call Me Clover, Pineapple Punch Accessories: Stitched Shape Dies, Many Layered Blossoms Dies, Aquapainter This color combo is so very SPRING like ... and I had NO TROUBLE figuring out what to do with it!
