‘Hindu Festivals: Diwali’ contains a PowerPoint to give structure to lessons, a flip chart with engaging activities for students and worksheets. The animation added to all slides helps teachers to pause whenever necessary to explain, expand or clarify any questions pupils may have. Should the teacher want to add other pieces of information which he/she thinks is relevant Diwali or to change the order of slides, the PowerPoint is fully editable to allow all of these. There is a mixture of stimulating and attractive activities which ensure high-quality learning experiences for all students: give me 5; think pair share, missing words activity, class discussions, drawing Rangoli patterns etc. There are many opportunities for class discussions to encourage young people to present their own opinions and respect the views of others. All activities are clearly linked to success criteria and they proved to be very successful in helping pupils consolidate their knowledge and understanding of Diwali. I have included a sample of pupils’ feedback which was very positive. ‘Hindu Festivals: Diwali’ is designed to last 1-2 periods and it complements ‘Diwali Fun Activity Pack ’ and ‘Diwali Jigsaw Puzzles ’. At the end of this topic you can celebrate pupils’ success with one of these certificates. ************************************************************************ This resource contains: ✶ Cover ✶ Teacher Notes (including learning objectives, ways of differentiating, detailed instructions on how and when to use this resource and printing tips) ✶ PowerPoint Presentation (fully editable and with animation) ✶ Flipchart Interactive Activities ✶ Worksheets ✶ TOU/Credits ************************************************************************ Related Products All Festivals Resources ************************************************************************ Customer Tips: How to get TPT credit to use on future purchases: • Please go to your My Purchases page (you may need to login). If you have struggled with teaching Hinduism and Buddhism to your students and wish you had a creative activity to use, look no further! This ABC Slideshow Project for Google Slides helps students work with key vocabulary from Hinduism and Buddhism, and challenges them to identify which words are associated with each religion. This easy-to-use resource includes the following resources: Teacher Guide (PDF) Student Assignment Sheet in 3 levels for easy differentiation (PDF + Google Docs) Slideshow Template (Google Slides) Definitions List/Answer Key (PDF + Google Docs) Grading Sheet (PDF + Google Docs) Presentation Sign-Up (PDF) All of the Google Drive files are 100% editable. On each slide, students will include the word they chose, a definition of that word, an image that corresponds with that word, and they will color code the slide based upon whether the word is related to Hinduism, Buddhism, or both. Since there are three different levels for this project, you can decide which variations of the assignment you wish to use! Introduction to Hinduism and Buddhism Webquest uses a great website that allows students to learn about the basic facts of Hinduism and Buddhism. The webquest is great for introducing or reviewing the two religions. The webquest is very easy to follow for students in grades 5-12. Click on the link to visit the website: Click here to view the website. The webquest contains 30 questions and an answer sheet is included for the teacher. A QR code is included along with the traditional website link. The webquest takes most students at least 15 to 35 minutes to complete depending on their age. Feel free to modify this activity if needed to fit the needs of your students. Please check out my other lesson plans on religion and philosophy.
