Ordinarily it would have been golden eagles on the gopher’s mind, but on a sunny afternoon in early September, there was something else to worry about. As it emerged from its burrow in the Kyrchyn Valley in central Kyrgyzstan, the rodent sniffed the dusty air blowing north towards the border..
This lovely wooden wall hanging will remind you of all the places you want to travel someday; to places hither, thither, and yon! This piece was inscribed by hand with a woodburner and then given multiple layers of bright, sparkly pink custom blended Unicorn Spit glaze. The sparkles don’t show up well in the photos, but in real life they lend a subtle magic to the sign. The unique stain and handcrafted feel will bring out the best of your bohemian side. Each piece of one-of-a-kind pyrography art from Birchtree Artistry is lovingly woodburned by hand by local Maryland artist Talis Tighe. These pieces feature a wide variety of different pyrography techniques—each is a unique handmade treasure, and no two are exactly alike! Grab one today to add creative flair to any room of your home!

What an honor and joy it was to be the guest of the Minnesota Christian Writers Guild for their Spring Seminar on Saturday, March 11. I presented four sessions to an avid group of aspiring writers on "Writing Masterfully." I also enjoyed being the group's guest for their March meeting on Monday, March 13 (above), at which I spoke on "Write Like Will: 8 Ways the Bard of Avon Can Make You a Better Writer." I couldn't have been hosted any better by my friends Joyce and Steve Ellis, nor treated any better by the guild president, Bev, and all who attended. No one threw anything, no one chanted protests while I was speaking, and no one made fun of my Ohio accent. Well, not to me, anyway.

Here's a bunch of random magazine gag cartoons that I didn't write down where they came from. Some come from magazines I've scanned, some I found on the internet, some are originals. This one's by George Ludway. Here's one of the many cartoons Jack Cole did for Humorama that was recycled many times, this time in color. Last Saturday at the Books by the Banks book festival at Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati, I was blessed to meet a new friend, who came to my book table and introduced himself (and even bought a copy of The Bard and the Bible!). James Green is the--get this--User Experience/Assessment Librarian at the Xavier University Library in Cincinnati. Sounds impressive, huh? Well, you don't even know. James shared with me the university's amazing volume of the Heritage Edition of The Saint John's Bible, a hand-lettered, hand-illuminated manuscript of the Bible in seven volumes, created by the cooperation of the monks of St. John's Abbey in Minnesota and a team of artists coordinated by Donald Jackson in Wales. The result is utterly breathtaking. There is no way to describe the vivid, enchanting art and craftsmanship of this volume--and it is just a part of the whole project! I asked James for a complimentary copy, but he demurred. Probably didn't want others asking, don't ya know. But I couldn't have been more excited and blessed to see this amazing portion of an amazing Bible, and to know that Cincinnati's Xavier University owns and shares a piece of it!

The sum is greater than its parts. The age-old adage is particularly suited to a recent project by a pair of architecture firms. O&M is a new rental-apartment complex in San Francisco by Kennerly Architecture & Planning and Pfau Long Architecture. Build, the developer, enlisted the two to create a nearly block-long beacon that reflects the neighborhood’s diverse character.

Matthew \"Constant Waterman\" Goldman and MoonWind constantly roam the waters of southeast New England, where these stories are centered. Each tale is short and sweet and possessed of an ineffable bemusement.MoonWind is a twenty-six foot sloop with an eight foot beam. This means that she was designed for close dancing, close encounters, moderate winds, six-day weekends, and numerous fabulous voyages. Her anchor holds her most of the time, her tiller seldom breaks in adverse conditions, and her bronze bell on the bulkhead rings only as her rail dips to the brine. For anyone who enjoys the art of sailing, join MoonWind and learn the exquisite relevance of the wind upon the water.Constant Waterman early in life acquired that pernicious habit of messing about in boats, for which the only cure is to move to the top of Mount Washington. Having rejected the landlubber lifestyle, he has managed to waste the past sixty years of his boyhood messing about in boats. The alternative, to grow up and work for a living, never did appeal to him.
I’m excited to share this new Hither and Yon video that my husband Rob made. It documents the making and installation of my sculpture, which is part of this summer’s “Portals and …
When Love is shed abroad, like seeds falling from a fall garden plant and blown with the breeze hither and yon, hope maketh not ashamed.
