Laid down on 1 September 1916, HMS Hood was launched on 22 August 1918. She was sunk during WW2 by the German battleship Bismarck
Warspite appears here after her major reconstruction, and clearly shows her neutrality markings, the red,white, and blue stripes painted on B turret. All neutral warships in the Mediterranean were obliged to show such neutrality markings to avoid coming under attack by the belligerent forces during the Spanish Civil War. This photo was taken from an almost identical position to the adjacent photo of HMS Resolution.
