Joseph Zbukvic was born in Zagreb, today’s Croatian capital. From childhood he was fond of art, but his parents thought it wasn’t an important talent, so Joseph was sent to a Pedagogical University, where he studied languages. The political instability in Yugoslavia forced the Zbukvich family to leave their home and move to Australia. Of course the education had to be abandoned. A few years later the name of Joseph Zbukvic became famous, despite his parents wish to bury the talent of their son.

Vinyl LP edition of Busyhead, the 2019 release from Noah Kahan.Within two short years, music quite literally carried 22-year-old singer, songwriter, and artist Noah Kahan around the world-a long way from his native Strafford, VT (pop. 1,045) and the 133-acre tree farm where he resides. For as much as the road twisted and turned, the journey led right to the album. "My life has taken a 180° turn," he admits. "I'm on a very different path than what I thought I would do. I feel nostalgic for a time when I was younger and had less to think about. I had the latitude to be whimsical, free, and young without knowing what's going to happen. I get nostalgic for the locale where I grew up, because the scenery is so beautiful. Going from this to bigger cities and tours is crazy for me. The transition informs the storytelling. I'm getting a little more cunning and self-deprecating. The truth is-regardless of where I've gone-my parents still yell at me to pick up the dogs' shit when I'm back home," he laughs. In the end, Noah makes the kind of music that can travel with you forever, but it feels even better at home. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. (John 20: 15-16). With these words, Mary became the first to know that Jesus, who laid down his life for us, had now taken up immortality. Her Master had returned, for her and for all of us, His children. Rabboni is a unique piece of art that provides a visual reminder of the assurance we have through Jesus Christ that He knows each of us by name, and our responsibility to know him as our Master. It is a meaningful gift and a beautiful addition to any home. This listing is for a digital JPEG which you will download through Etsy after your payment is processed. In March 2020, Lucas Crawford was quarantined at the Banff Centre for the Arts, coughing like a good fat asthmatic at high altitude, in the middle of a breakup, not knowing when or how he would get home, or where home would be when he got home. What does a depressed professor do, stranded in a dorm room? Write poems. Muster Points is a frank discussion of pleasure, plain, nostalgia, desire, and health from a "fancy academic" who refuses to shy away from the blood and sweat of depression or the glorious fluids of queer sex. These poems bring us on a trans boy's trips through the sharp-shard runs of heterosexual marriages, into weird rural masculinities and their fraught survival, into the love language of regret and persistent, inconvenient desire. As Crawford packs his two suitcases and bangs into past selves, tenuous futures, and a global emergency, he tracks his collisions toughly and tenderly, documenting every relic and clue. He travels to the core of his sexual politic, through the front door and to the back of his mind. Muster Points arouses thoughts and provokes them, using visceral language and unequivocal vulnerability to conjure a place where all who enter may be seen as they are seen. | Author: Lucas Crawford | Publisher: University Of Calgary Press | Publication Date: Jun 15, 2023 | Number of Pages: 80 pages | Language: English | Binding: Hardcover | ISBN-10: 1773854526 | ISBN-13: 9781773854526

Lady and the Tiger (1910) by Frederick Stuart Church - Digital Print - Journaling - Art History - Wall Art - Classic Art - Printable Art Resolution: 300 ppi Print Size: 2279 x 2917 pixels or approximately 7.5 x 9.5" Frederick Stuart Church was an American artist who studied art in New York during the late 19th century and quickly became an illustrator for many popular magazines, including Harper's Bazaar and The Ladies' Home Journal. Although he did produce commercial art, his heart was in the countryside where he loved depicting animals in their natural state and in anthropomorphic "allegorical compositions." He studied animal physiology extensively in order to depict their mood and facial expressions. I think his artwork is breathtaking. I love printing it at home on linen paper to use in my journals or on matte photo paper for display on my walls. Printing FAQs: ~This print is perfect for printing at home or at your local print shop. If you are having it printed professionally, your printer can help adjust the aspect ratio if needed. You can also choose to use online print services such as bayphoto, uprinting, shutterfly, vistaprint, snapfish, gotprint, printplace, mpix, printrunner, etc. ~If printing at home, try a few test prints to find the settings that are best for your printer, paper type, and your desired outcome. Results can vary with different monitors and printers. As with my other printables, I recommend using cotton linen blend paper for a textured result, a matte photo paper for a crisp, deep image or plain white computer paper for a more muted, softer image. Maxfield Parrish, one of the foremost illustrators of the 20th century, was born in Philadelphia in 1870, died March 1966. He was also a favorite of advertisers, including Edison-Mazda Lamps, Fisk Tires, Colgate and Oneida Cutlery. In 1576, Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II chose Prague to be his home. More than any other person, Rudolf made Prague a hotbed of alchemical interest. Rudolf lived in the Prague Castle, where he welcomed not only astrologers and magicians but also scientists, musicians, and artists. In addition to noted alchemists Edward Kelley and John Dee, Prague was also home to the astronomers Tycho Brahe and Johannes Kepler, the painter Arcimboldo, the poet Elizabeth Jane Weston, among others. Rudolf arguably spawned the most intense period of occult activity in history. If you want to know more about the reign of Rudolf II, you could do a lot worse than Peter Marshall’s The Magic Circle of Rudolf II: Alchemy and Astrology in Renaissance Prague. Celebrating this alchemical contributions of Rudolf II is the Museum of Alchemists and Magicians of Old Prague, located at Jansky Vrsek 8 on the western side of the Vltava. The museum consists of two levels of displays and tableaux that document Rudolf’s alchemists in Prague, especially Kelley. (There is a sister museum called the Speculum Alchemiae Museum, but that’s on the other side of the river, at Hastalska 1.) Quoting Altas Obscura, The main floor has...
Truong Tan was born in 1963 and graduated from the University of Fine Arts, Hanoi in 1989. As an artist, Truong Tan is known above all for his erotic references to his sexuality, making use of his autobiographical experiences, perceptions and feelings to mark his artistic narrative. His departure from the University where he served as a lecturer until 1997, was largely due to his challenging art that openly expressed his gayness and questioned the contradictions of the then implemented economic liberalization policy or Doi Moi. By rejecting the more conservative assumption of art that were being adopted by his peers, Truong Tan moved to Paris under a grant from the CitéInternationale des Artes. Despite his reputation as the enfant terrible of the time, Truong Tan has today emerged as one of Vietnam’s most internationally acclaimed artists with his art as part of the permanent collections of major art museums that include the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Japan, the Queensland Art Gallery, Australia and the Singapore Art Museum. He has been a participant of numerous biennials in Asia and Europe. Truong Tan lives and works in Paris as well as in Hanoi. Truong Tan's works were selected for an Asian exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in February, 2013.

Photographer Joseph Szabo is not one of the bigger names in photography, but his work is nonetheless influential. His book Teenage is a collection of photos of students from Malverne High School in Long Island where he taught photography from 1972 to 1999. A beautiful record of 70s and 80s adolescence, Teenage captures students in class, at home and “at play,” sometimes in fairly sexual situations. The anthology contains an introduction by writer/director Cameron Crowe, and I’d say you can see some of Szabo’s eye in Crowe’s film Almost Famous. The work you see here is actually from Szabo’s lesser known series, Rolling Stones Fans, a document of his first-ever rock concert. If Teenage seems like the sort of thing that would get a teacher in hot water today, know that Szabo got these pictures after students offered him a ticket (and themselves as subjects) in exchange for a ride. Szabo considers his work a collaboration, with the kids posing and mugging for the camera, so the “staged spontaneity” is a lively theme to his work. This was from The Stones’ ‘78 tour, promoting Some Girls ...
