Watch your economics class become your students' surprise favorite! ★ Topics Include: ★ Focused Vocabulary What is Economics? (Scarcity vs. Shortage, Wants vs. Needs, Factors of Production, Human vs. Physical Capital, Entrepreneurs) Rational Decision Making (Decision Making Grids, Opportunity Costs, Decisions at the Margin, Guns or Butter?, Production Possibility Curves, Production Possibility Frontiers, Efficiency, Growth, Cost, Voluntary Exchange, Possibilities and Trade-Offs) Rational Decision Making and Your Future Division of Labor Economic Role of the U.S. Government (GDP, The Business Cycle, Macro vs. Micro, Goals: Growth, Stability, and Employment, Technology, Free Enterprise, Role of the Consumer, Public Sector vs. Private Sector, Public Goods, Safety Nets, Regulation) Economic Systems (Traditional, Command, Free Market, Mixed Market, Keynes, Marx, Circular Flow Model) Tour a Nation’s Economy Universal Basic Income ★ Here's What You Get: ★ Daily Lesson Plans Editable PowerPoint Presentations--easy to load into Google Slides Cloze Notes--great for students who need modifications Foldable Graphic Organizers--truly, tactile learning benefits even high schoolers Quizzes Task Cards Card Sorts Handouts Exit Tickets Film Guides Answer Keys Study Guides and Tests Editable Versions of Most of The Resources--I will show you how to load these into Google Slides so they're ready to be assigned digitally in a snap! ★ FAQS ★ ♦ Q: My school discourages me from using the number of copies I need to make interactive notebooks. ♦ A: No worries! It's super easy to use the EDITABLE resources digitally--just insert them into Slides with ONE click! I even show you how. (Psst...most of the resources are editable.) Also, all of the daily activities are broken into small PDFs perfect for posting and using digitally with DocHub or Kami. ♦ Q: I only have one semester to teach economics on the traditional schedule. Will this resource work for me? ♦ A: The short answer is, “yes.” I would keep the foundational assignments (bellringers, exit tickets, presentations, notes, gallery walks, reinforcement activities) and cut out most of the projects and simulations. ♦ Q: I noticed that your daily lesson plans are designed for the block schedule. I teach on traditional. Will this work for me? ♦ A: Yes! It's super-easy to modify them for traditional. I give you instructions on how to do it quickly! ★ What Teachers Like You Said…★ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Laurel S. said, "This has been a life-saver for me as a first-time economics teacher! The students are highly engaged and are excited to see what activities we will be doing in class! I highly recommend this thorough and in-depth resource!" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heather R. said, "We were really looking to expand our ECON program and this has been a lifesaver! It's easy to use, well explained and includes everything needed to really give a strong foundation in ECON. Love it!" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Barbara B. said, "This is the perfect resource to help in teaching Economics. All the elements are present including lesson plans with answer keys and components needed for your lessons." ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Katrina D. said, "Two words - Life Saver!!! As a teacher who has never taught economics before, and who is a little rusty on the economics concepts myself, this resource has literally saved me! It is creative, logical, and the students are really grasping the information while gaining such understanding that I often hear them transferring the new information to their everyday life. I cannot recommend this resource highly enough, and I fully intend to purchase from this seller in the future. THANK YOU for all the hard work and attention to detail put into this amazing product!" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hannah H. said, "I wanted to take a minute this morning to applaud this resource. I have been using this in my SDC classroom with my Mild/Moderate and ASD students. It is amazing and I heartily recommend it to anyone teaching Econ, especially someone who has never in her life studied the finer details of Economics. First, I want to say this is so organized. The instructions are clear, and there's even a table of contents! The entire unit is planned out day by day, although I have to go significantly slower for my students, as our classes are short. But that means I have curriculum and lesson plans for the entire quarter. All the resources come in Adobe and PowerPoint and are easily printable. We have to go digital, and I do have to use Snip & Sketch to make the notes into Google slide fillables, but it is not that big a deal. This resource is engaging, and my students LOVE Willie Wonka as an allegory for Economics. I like the pictures on the notes and they sometimes color them in, which is a great time killer when you are down to two students because the rest of your class was pulled for Speech. Thank you for the PowerPoint about setting up the Interactive Notebook, which is a hit by the way. I have them all trained to grab their notebooks at the beginning of class and just have it, whether we use it or not. I have, however, had to use smaller notebooks, so I have them complete the notes digitally (transferred slides to Google slides) so I can print them out at 86% and then insert them into their notebooks." ★ Want more interactive, ready-to-teach economics? A CCSS aligned, Greek mythology short story and corresponding activities about the hero Perseus, who slayed the monster Medusa. This resource was created for beginner to intermediate ESL students to practice reading and responding to a fictional text. It can be used for an in-class activity, homework, or an emergency sub plan. I designed this resource with upper-level elementary, middle school, and high school ESL students in mind because I often find resources that are appropriate for my students' language levels, but not their age levels. My goal is to create ESL materials that are appropriate for both. I also wish to make Common Core ELA more accessible for ESL students. Included in this resource are: 1. Perseus & Medusa story (2 pages) 2. Vocabulary: Academic vocabulary (Tier 2 & 3 words) in bold print throughout reading. Vocabulary chart, adapted from Learner's Dictionary, at the end of reading with definitions. Parts of speech and singular/plural words are also identified in the chart. 3. Grammar: Students conjugate verbs from reading into the past tense. 4. Spelling Practice: Students unscramble vocabulary words and write the correct spelling in sentences based on the reading. 5. Vocabulary Practice: Students complete cloze sentences with the correct vocabulary word. Sentences are out of the context of the reading. 6. Reading Comprehension: Students annotate text dependent questions (aligned with CCSS) by circling the question word, underlining the subject once and verb twice, and boxing the object. Afterwards, they answer the comprehension questions using complete sentences. 7. Story Map: A graphic organizer in which students complete sections on the myth's literary elements, such as: characters, setting, conflict, solution, characterization, and theme. 8. Summary Writing Template 9. Here’s why: Guided notes keep all students actively engaged in class. Students follow along and fill in missing words and numbers and answer questions. They allow students to focus on problem solving rather than using their working memory to write down everything they hear the teacher say. Students create their own reference guide to help them remember and internalize what they learned in class. They can easily refer back to what they learned in previous classes to help them with spiral review, homework, studying for assessments and most importantly building on prior knowledge to learn new concepts. It helps students organize information and understand what is important. Middle school students are often new to the expectation of notetaking and guided notes are a perfect way to introduce this practice and perfect a lifelong skill. The blanks can be used as cues to help students decipher what is expected of them- they can tell if a longer definition should be recorded or a smaller blank means they should write an important vocabulary word or number. They relieve the stress that many students feel when expected to accurately copy diagrams, figures and equations off the board. Having them right on their notes page allows them to focus on problem solving and less about accurately copying complex notes off the board. Guided notes are especially beneficial for students with special education needs and English Language Learners and can easily be adapted to accommodate specific needs. These high school chemistry worksheets are full of pictures, diagrams, and deeper questions covering atoms versus ions, isotopes, the history of the atom (Dalton, Rutherford, Bohr), calculating atomic mass from isotope data, reading chemical symbols, types of radioactive decay, balancing nuclear equations, and more advanced topics like quarks and other small subatomic particles! This unit is designed to help students build up the basic vocabulary they will use all year to help them describe chemical compounds and their properties and how they change during chemical reactions. This unit is part of my Differentiated Chemistry Whole Year Homework Bundle. These are non-editable PDF files. Each PDF file contains the student page, the answer key, and my terms of use page. Frequently Asked Questions: 1. Why should you purchase this bundle? - This unique homework sheet unit (as part of my whole year bundle) will help you teach a cohesive and consistent program all year. - These homework pages were carefully designed with a wealth of images! I have created many of the images myself and other images are licensed from professional designers. These homework pages are not plain worksheets with text questions that can be easily copied from a textbook. Each page is meant to help students to learn chemistry in a very visual way. Students circle, color, and analyze pictures and diagrams in ways that are far superior to plain text textbook questions. 2. What does this unit contain? This unit contains 10 pages: 1. The History of the Atom 2. Atoms vs Ions 3. Isotopes 4. Reading Chemical Symbols 5. Calculating Average Atomic Mass 6. Types of Radioactive Decay 7. In the event of a nuclear disaster (created using data from ready.gov!) 8. Even Smaller Particles (like quarks, leptons, and bosons) 9. Half Life Problems 10. Balancing Nuclear Equations 3. How many pages does this unit contain? This unit contains 10 student pages plus an answer key for every page. 4. What will the format of each page be? Each page will be unique. Each is designed to roughly cover the material that I would teach in an hour long class period. These are terrific for daily homework assignments because they don’t take too long to complete. These pages have been carefully designed in Illustrator. I have created a unique set of questions to help students to review material taught in class and think deeper about the material. Many of the pages ask students to highlight or color something, to identify items in a diagram, to match related concepts, or interact with a topic in a new way. Many of the pages ask students to connect more than one concept; they are intended to help students see the bigger picture in each unit. A few pages ask students to use the internet to do a little research. If you own any of my other resources, don’t worry about repeat pages. These homework pages are truly unique and separate from my activities. These homework pages will truly complement any activities or resources you already have or use in your class. 5. How do I handle homework? First of all, I don’t grade it. I learned in my early teaching years that when I grade homework, I am rewarding students who copied off of their one studious friend the period before my class, and I am penalizing students who have limited educational time outside of school. I often give time at the end of the period to work on “homework” pages. Often, I start off the next day’s class with the answer key projected onto some sort of screen (ELMO or projector) so that students can check their answers as they walk in. My students know that they will do better in my class if they do the homework and I care about effort more than being correct. 6. What if you want to grade homework? Are answer keys included? Are they easy to grade? Answer keys are included (for almost all of the pages, where it makes sense to have an answer key). I designed these pages to be pretty simple to grade, if you want to do that. 7. Why is each homework page only one page? In my time as a teacher, I have noticed that for some reason, homework assignments that have more than one side of a page are just neglected by students. If I hand out a one sided homework page and tell them, here’s your homework, they say, yay, it’s just 1 page! They will often at least start it if not finish it before the end of the day. I really think there is a psychological barrier to starting an assignment with two sides. Call me crazy, but test it out! Try giving my homework assignments and watch your class actually do their homework! If you want to give two pages, you can print these out and then copy 2 back to back for your students. A way to save paper would be to print all of the homework assignments and copy them as a packet. This is great to give students all at once in the beginning of the unit, so they have every page in advance, which works great if they’re absent!
