Last week I’ve interviewed James Fawcett about this cool Honda 125 Scrambler mashup: Why did you build this bike? Last year I built a CB200t with my then 17-year-old son. This year, my 13-year-old decided he wanted in on the fun. After tinkering with his old XR80, his ideas started getting […]

(first posted 9/9/2012) In 1968, a year before coming out with the CB750, Honda introduced the bike that would become America’s all-time best-seller. The CB350 sold over 300,000 bikes […]
When Lyndon Adams bought this bike it was just boxes or parts and a rolling chassis painted in primer. How it got from a wreck to pristine condition is due to the dedicated efforts of the owner. Lyndon is president of the NSW chapter of the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club, and truly a wizz with all things ancient and Japanese, well, motorcycles anyway. The story starts with Lyndon completing his national service in 1971 and beginning college. He bought a Honda Benly similar to this one as daily transport, and reports it was a reliable bike that performed well. This model, the C92, was based on the C90 which had been on sale since 1958. The C92 was sold from 1959 and featured an electric leg. Lyndon commenced the restoration work in 2001. A lot of parts for these older Honda's are coming from Asia, because Honda had been manufacturing bikes similar to these for decades in Thailand. Under the auspices of a holiday Lyndon took his wife to Thailand picking up some bargains along the way. The bike has been exhibited at VJMC rallies and has picked up numerous awards. Awards that are testament to Lyndon's efforts and dedication to these early Honda's.
