I love challenges. I do a great job tackling hard missions. Juice fasts. Nanowrimo. Once I signed up for a read the Bible in 90 days challenge and nailed it. The problem, for me, is once I’ve conquoered the challenge I don’t continue the behavior. It only takes a week or two and before I’ve slid off the wagon and back into familar routines. My 90 days through the Bible challenge was fantastic and did spur on a deeper love for God’s word but didn’t become a habit. This time around I want to savor the scriptures as I push myself to complete them. I also want to include my children and husband on the journey without overwhelming them. But how can I have it all? How? With the 90 Days through the New Testament Challenge. Why 90 Days? Ninety days wrap up a quarter of our 2nd semester of homeschool. Ninety days is enough to be challenging but not so fast as to be exhausting. The goal is to create a habit and a hunger for the Word of God, not to check off boxes and leave the Lord behind. It doesn’t take a whole lot of prep work. Just pick up and read 3 to 4 chapters a day and you’ll end on time. Or you can get creative with it and mix your Gospel readings with the Epistals. (Like in our printable below) Why include Family? Again, the challenge isn’t exhaustive. Even my struggling learner can keep up with us, especially if they use an audio version. Why the New Testament? I have tackled a read the entire Bible in 90 days challenge before. I loved it. But so much was lost in the push to conquer the challenge. Using 90 days to soak in the New Testament leaves me plenty of time to dive deeper into my readings. How to make it part of Homeschool? It’s my goal to integrate the challenge into our morning/together time. On the weekends, I’m having my children complete their readings in private quiet times. Toss in notebooking, copywork, and discussion times that makes an in depth family challenge and a full curriculum. What tools will we use? Besides a Bible and an audio version, I’m using a book that has me write the word through the Gospel. My youngest is using a funlearning book. But my eldest is keeping a composition notebook. All our journals need pens, pencils, crayons, stickers and the like. Anything to make digging into God’s Word more exciting for each of us. (The links below are affiliate links. Every year all of our 5th graders participate in our school's Wax Museum program. It is seriously one of the highlights of the entire school year! Here's a run down of how things work: -Students choose a biography on a famous American. -They read the book and complete the American Hero book report. -They design a poster, create a costume, and memorize information about their hero. -For the Wax Museum, the students bring all their stuff and set up in the gym. -We invite our school, parents, community members, etc. to come see our program. -Our students become wax figures and when someone pushes their button they come to life and give information about their hero. Here are some pictures from this year's museum: Aren't these kids absolutely adorable in their costumes?! (I normally don't post pictures of my students on here, but luckily I'm friends with both of their moms and they gave me permission to post their cute faces.) And I think these two posters turned out AMAZING!! If you are interested, I have uploaded (and revamped) all of my resources and put them for sale in my Teachers Pay Teachers store. I have included everything you might need to get started and to implement this project in your own school. I'd love for you to check it out! Does your school do a Wax Museum?

Our friends are the family members we get to choose. They can come from all walks of life, and they may enter our stories at any time: when biking around the neighborhood as a child, when being assigned our first roommate in college, when moving to a new city in our late twenties to have a fresh start, or through an introduction by a mutual friend. A great friend can be hard to come by, someone who truly understands and accepts you and who makes your life more exciting and enjoyable than it was before, so we must cling onto the people we really mesh with.
There's never a dull moment with kids around.
