In my last post of January 12 I was '21 again', three days later I just was 45 and orphan... on Januari 15 my dear father passed away, very suddenly after a short illness. You can understand that I was not in the mood to blog for a while, but now it's the time to go on. My house quilt is finished, quilted, too! I quilted it by hand, because all the little houses also were made by hand. I quilted in the ditch of all sashings, that went quick, because I didn't had to go through thick seams. In the border I quilted small hearts, because I worked with full my heart on the quilt. Pixel is SUCH a naughty dog, whenever I take my quilt he's running toward me, and jumps on the quilt. He REALLY thinks I made this quilt for him. Well, ofcourse this quilts smells lovely for a dog, it smells like me. He's dreaming of sleeping on that quilt... Over here you can see the backside of my quilt, the piece with the little chapel, to show how the quilting looks. I've used black quilting thread, to get a visible quilting at the back. The picture beneath it is the front. ... Stuur me maar even een mail met foto van je quilt naar [email protected] And now the good news, there's gonna be a exhibition of the Building Houses from Scraps quilts, on 5,6 and 7 April in Rijswijk (The Netherlands), during the patchwork- and Quilting days. If you need more information please click HERE. It's so exited for me, because it's the first time I'm joining an exhibition. We're now busy selecting all quilts. Some of you are working very hard now to get their quilt finished on time. While others have finished their quilt already and think: can I join, too? Well, we still could use some large house quilts for the exhibition, if you like to join (your quilt has to be finished), please sent me a mail at [email protected] Misschien hebben jullie zin om de tentoonstelling te bezoeken? Maybe you like to visit the exhibition? I would be pleased to meet you there. Please bring all your little houses(quilts), tops with you, because there's room to chat a to sew a few stitches. The organisation of the fair/exhibtion gives away three free entrance tickets for the fair. Please give a comment at this post to make chance to win a free ticket. You can join until 27 March 2013. And if you're not in the opportunity to visit the exhibition, and still want to donate your house blocks sending them by post, please send me a mail at [email protected] (ofcourse you can also just make one block and donate...) The house top of Janine De huisjes quilt van Christine (USA) - The house quilt of Christine (USA), she wrote: As soon as I came across your blog last year in late January and saw the scrappy houses, I fell in love with it and had to join in. I drew my own pattern in EQ. Fabrics used were all 1800's reproductions. I printed clipart to represent family birthdays (a slice of birthday cake) and anniversaries (wedding bells) to use in the windows. I also used the company logo to represent the 30 years with my employer. Judie Rothermel's novelty fabric with the little dog is for the past and current dog we own.
