Blue Hydrangea 2 was photographed in Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard. The near three dimensional quality of this photograph has the effect of being able to reach out and touch the blossoms. The painted feel and the perception of depth are achieved through the digital process. The rich blues and deep greens are accented with a single pink rose. This piece makes even more of a statement when paired with Blue Hydrangea 1. Blue Hydrangea 1 & 2 remain two of my most popular pieces at my fine art and flower shows. This a signed open edition giclee print on matte paper. It measures 7.5 inches by 9.5 inches and is presented in a standard size double 11x14 inch white over black mat. Originally $35... On sale for $30. Blue Hydrangea 1 and 2 are available matted in standard sizes and on canvas to almost any size. Presented on high gloss tiles with a faux coral frames these pieces are perfect for indoor or outdoor decor.

Your order is for 2 Blue Hydrangea Shrubs . Plants are guaranteed to arrive alive healthy and unbroken. If otherwise I will issue full refund or send replacements immediately. True blue is a challenging color to find in a low-maintenance plant, much less one that comes back year after year. Then to find one that thrives in your shade garden? It may seem almost impossible. But along comes the Nikko Blue Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Nikko Blue') and this shrub is the standard for blue flowers in your shade garden! The white pompoms form in summer and soon transform into a solid blue as the plant matures. The mophead can grow up to 6 inches long, and as the blooms age, they change colors as they do while remaining on the plant until they dry and become a winter interest. Expect these to grow well in zones 6-9. They'll grow rapidly and can add up to 24 inches of height a year. Nikko blue hydrangeas grow to be around 6 feet tall, with a similar spread. The more shade the bush receives, the shorter it may remain—in extreme cases, the plant may stay short enough to resemble a large perennial in size. The shrubs are multi-stemmed and grow in an upright habit.

My bedroom could use an overhaul and I'm drawn to using some kind of carved, gilded headboard. I have a plain, upholstered headboard with a peach damask linen fabric and the peach is passé these days. Actually, the peach fabric was probably passé when I bought it, but that was before I discovered design blogs. Nate Berkus designed this room. Unfortunately, I do not know what publication this is from or the photographer's name. Mr. Berkus' website is being renovated, so I could not find any information there. Please let me know if you have details about this photo and I'll update the post. Of course, I cannot afford an antique, carved, gilded headboard like the one above or this: 1stdibs The price for this is not shown on 1stdibs, so it's likely an "if you have to ask you can't afford it" item. Here's another headboard identical to the one above. They are both Italian, apparently from the 1930s. I wonder if there was an Italian version of Crate & Barrel back then where everyone could go to buy the same thing. The bottom half is a pretty blue-green-gray color. 1stdibs This headboard is more substantial than the others. It's also Italian (I know you're not surprised). This is beautiful, but even if I wanted to buy it, it's too over-the-top for my room. Surprisingly, the price is not over-the-top for an antique. 1stdibs My taste is more simple--think jeans with flats---so I'm not sure these headboards are really "me", with the exception of the Nate Berkus room, which I would be happy to have as my own. But the room could use a "wow" or two. I've been thinking about the concept and could make my own headboard with some supplies I've found, but I'm concerned that it will look too faux, too Disney-Italian. So, I'll continue to ponder and maybe one of these days I'll take the plunge and make my own. If I do, photos will follow for sure.
