As we come to a close of this wonderful competition of Refashion Runway, I’d like to thank Beth for hosting and answering my endless emails. I was probably the most high-maintenance contestant with my incessant emails! But she was always so quick to respond and patient in answering each of my questions. I think she’s …
Thailand's Queen Sirikit celebrated her 76th birthday on August 12. It is a national public holiday as well as Mother's Day. She continues to play an active role in the country's development. The Queen is known for reviving many of Thailand's ancient arts and crafts which has expanded immensely since 1976. With her encouragement and financial support, many women have been able to help support their families by producing handicrafts. She is also recognized as one of the world's leading conservationists. In 1986 she was awarded the certificate "Distinguished Conservationist - Forestry and Wildlife" from the World Wildlife Fund for her work in conservation. She has initiated several programs to carry out plans for reforestation by rehabilitating several forest areas, as well as a watershed conservation project. This remarkable woman is respected and loved by her countrymen. Long live the Queen!

I’m in love with pleats. So I was ecstatic to find this when I was rummaging through my mom’s closet. a white pleated skirt! My mom’s out of the country for 6 months so I’m just hoping she won’t notice it missing when she returns. I’m so kidding! I found this in the “old” …

Back at it again refashioning on another piece I inherited from my sweet Grandma Metta. I like to take breaks between refashioning her pieces and thrifted items because it’s so emotional to work with her things. It’s also a lot more stressful, because making a fatal mistake means one less piece I have from her. […]

Have you ever seen a piece of clothing at a thrift store and thought, “This would be perfect if it were only my size!” Or maybe if it didn’t have these weird puffed sleeves or a glittery collar. Most of us simply turn down a piece like that because we don’t have the skills or resources to do anything about it, but some particularly innovative individuals can actually take a piece of clothing that leaves much to be desired and transform it into something they will proudly wear for years to come.
This week, I transformed two frumpy floral dresses - one missing a few buttons - into vintage-inspired pieces perfect for spring! Essen...

after years of looking for a skirt like this with the right elastic waist, color, length, I finally found it!!! Would you believe it takes less than 10 mins? I actually found it several months ago and I have a huge stash of half finished and need-to-start piles but I just can’t find the will to do it.
One of my passions is making something new from something old. There is so much potential when you refashion something unwanted into something loved.
A free refashion is just what I needed this week! Not long ago, my church had a clothing swap. We all brought clothes that, for various reasons, we didn't need anymore. Then we all went through them and took home what we wanted. It was so much fun! It was quite funny because one lady and I went home with almost all of each others' clothes! I did end up bringing home this dress as well. I debated about what I should do with this beauty. Ultimately, I decided to try a dress. If that didn't work I could always cut it off and make a skirt. I also knew that I wanted to turn it around backwards so the buttons were in the back. The first things that needed to go were that collar and the sleeves! Then the pockets After that I just took in the sides a couple inches, cut off about 8 inches and hemmed! This dress screams for layers! Where am I looking here? No idea. Which of the 3 looks is your favorite? Before and After

From mom at the park, to date night This is a Lularoe Ana that I got at Goodwill for $4. I used a pattern from ‘Patterns for Pirates’ called the Gala Gown to refashion the bodice. And I sewed an entire strapless bra into the dress. Seriously, why aren’t more dresses made like that!?
