I've been called out of control. I don't really care. My parents(divorced) aren't around much, and they don't even care. I have fun though. I always have a party to go to and friends to hang out with. Yet, I feel so alone and hopeless. If things keep going this way I don't know where my life is gonna end up. What should I do? Sincerely, Out of control Dear Out of control, It's always hard when you are feeling alone and hopeless. Your parent's divorce has likely left you feeling isolated from both sides, making it difficult to cope with the constant changes in your life. Fortunately there are resources available for teens in similar circumstances to yours, such as your school counselor. They are used to working with other teens experiencing similar issues. The important thing is for you to process your feelings and develop coping skills for living through challenging times. (Try going through your 5 senses anytime you feel disconnected. List 5 things you see, 4 things you hear, 3 things you can touch, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste. This will help you reconnect with the present) Additionally, talking about your worries with an adult who is supportive can often be very helpful in working through tough times. Please remember that no matter what happens or how isolated you may feel right now, there is always hope for change and healing ahead. Take care of yourself & best wishes!Jason

When being invisible is all they've ever known, a genius kid from Brooklyn changes their world. Everyone has a secret. Mine is a little different because it involves academics. My teachers think I'm uninterested in school. The truth is, school is BORING! I doodle through my lessons because I know everything they're teaching. My secret is? I'm a bona fide genius. Don't tell my mom because she doesn't know yet. The problem is, even twelve-year-old geniuses have bullies to deal with. My friends and I are not just bullied, but put in nerd zone and ignored. On a positive note, I'm going to change all that with a message that will put us in front of the world. So listen up. There's a lot more to us than the color of our skin, disability, looks or anything else you try to judge us on. But will the message get to the one person who needs to hear it most? | Author: L. B.
