Sometimes in music class its...well...its a very noisy place! So, what's the difference between music and noise? Organization and intent. First graders organize sounds (sometimes silly sounds!) into Sound Songs to explore the art of composing. Using a simple template that asks students to design a symbol and designate a sound for the symbol to represent, students organize their ideas and perform for each other. Check out their creativity: Students work on their projects by designing symbols and cleverly figuring out ways to spell the sounds they want to use. Once the projects are completed they share them with a friend. Its important that others can decipher our "music" so that we can share it! ____________________________________________ ____________________________________________ ____________________________________________ ____________________________________________ ____________________________________________ ____________________________________________

Promising review: "This is a 'can't miss' joke gift for anyone with a sense of humor! I bought this for my best friend for her birthday — they were making a lot of changes at her job and everything and everyone was driving her crazy. She would call me just about every day to vent her frustrations and when I saw this while surfing Amazon, I couldn't pass it up. When she opened it she nearly fell off the chair laughing, mission accomplished!! She said she took it to work to keep in her desk and when things start getting under her skin, she looks at it, laughs, and the day goes better." —Happy GalGet it from Amazon for $9.99.

I am a terrible housekeeper. I'm also terrible at saving money. And talking about my feelings. And cooking (because I don't plan ahead). And making time for my husband. At least, I WAS terrible at all of these things until… family meetings! I found a print-out somewhere in the depths of the internet called "Peek at the Week." I showed it to my husband and he was mostly indifferent about it until I told him all of my amazing plans.

My memory is not what it used to be. And I’m finding the more family history research I do, the more I’m duplicating effort. In the process of researching one person, another person will pop into my mind. I’ll look for a record for that person, rejoice in finding it, then realize I’d already found […]
