Silence used to avoid a confrontation, or the discomfort of emotions arising, often becomes like a nagging upset that burrows into your day when you least expect it. There will be moments when someone says something, or you see something, that triggers your recall of the person giving you the silent treatment. And that hurts.
“Madonna and Child” by Jeanne Antoinette Labrousse. Now available as a Christmas ornament! I hand cut the glass and sandwich 2 prints back to back and edge it with lead-free solder. It measures 2 by 3 inches, but varies a little as each one is a little different. This gorgeous “Madonna and Child” fascinates us. It was done around 1918 by London artist and illustrator Jeanne Labrousse. Art Nouveau in style, it was first published as a one page color supplement in the February 13, 1918 issue of a magazine called The Studio, which was dedicated to Art Nouveau. Although Labrousse had many shows at the Royal Academy and elsewhere, today this is by far her most famous painting. She was better known in her day as a pen and ink illustrator for British books and magazines. (See sample.) Her work is exquisite and charming. We have spent a lot of time looking at this picture and enjoying it. (source: uni-heidelberg.de) Original panel was printed and partly gilded on gesso. Also available in our shop as a fine art print as well as a beautiful greeting card: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1118316797/christmas-card-madonna-and-child-5x7 (Link to print in the cards description, or search our shop. ) Thanks for your interest! The Trinity is the dogma that the one divine substance of God exists eternally as three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. One God, three persons. Pretty simple right? Actually, it’s a mystery – and one of the greatest and most important mysteries of the faith, since it has to do with the very inner life of God. Artists over the centuries tried depicting, however imperfectly, this mysterious truth of divine revelation. Here are 16 examples. The title for each piece p
