With a decidedly Victorian twist, Olex Oleole puts together images that don’t quite fit together. A phonograph emerges from a heart while what look like animals behinds are sliced off and held together by two strings. Eventually, themes begin to emerge. A Nike logo appears over a cryptic figure with the snarky title Throw caution to the wind and just do it. Another shows a woman’s head turned into a vintage camera with the words Maybe you should consider keeping your selfies to yourself? Each piece feels surreal even while it looks familiar. The juxtaposition of human and machine or modern logo and mysterious character feels like a puzzle waiting to be solved. Once you put the pieces together — mostly with the help of each biting title — the other little details make the joke that much funnier. The conflation of time works just right, as the men and women in Victorian dress remind us of the age-old folies of vanity, consumption and more.

John Everett Millais : Joan of Arc (1865) Canvas Gallery Wrapped Giclee Wall Art Print (D6045) Canvas Print, Types: ➤Archival Paper Print (rolled) ➤Canvas Print, Gallery wrapped (mirrored edges) on 2cm depth pine wooden frame (stretched), rolled in a tube, or framed (wood floater frame). Options: ➤Archival Paper Print (rolled) ➤Rolled Canvas Print ➤Stretched and Ready to Hang 1 Panel Canvas Print ➤Stretched and Ready to Hang 3 Panel Canvas Print ➤Canvas in Black, Brown or White Wood Floating Frame (2'' | 5cm thick) ★★★WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A ROLLED CANVAS PRINT AND AN ARCHIVAL PAPER PRINT? ★★★ Whereas our canvas prints come with that typical characteristic texture own to canvas, our archival paper prints come on cotton rag paper without texture. A rolled canvas print is normally stretched on wood stretcher bars, whereas archival paper prints are not. Additionally, a stretched canvas can be framed, but it doesn't need to be. Thus, our rolled canvas prints come in their advertized size + mirrored edges by default for easy stretching. Prefer a cut to size rolled canvas print instead, because you want to frame it in a traditional fine art frame behind glass? Then just type ''cut to size'' in our personalization box (listing top right ''add your personalization''). Note that our rolled canvas prints do not come with stretcher bars or frames. Either take it to your local framer, or stretch/frame it yourself. Other sizes than listed in our drop-down menu available upon request! Have something in mind that you don't see in our shop? About The Artwork Cristina Troufa want to consolidate the idea of a self-portrait and/or self-representation but for other hand wants to reflect on a spiritual, emotional, and psychological inner self-portrait, that may be done conceptually. In her recent works, she uses her own image in autobiographical paintings that explore her life and spiritual beliefs. As a form of self-knowledge and self-questioning, her work explores an inner world in a symbolic way, which remains inaccessible to the voyeur that can only guess what each painting represents. About The Artwork My ink painting technique is like our world. The predictable, planable and the unpredictable, unexpected happenings make it complete. It means I allow ink and water to create miracle on the paper. Man too is like this, a unity of rationality and emotion. Though in different share, but they create the wholeness in everyone.
