This guide contains photographs of Lepidoptera species displayed in the Florida Museum’s Butterfly Rainforest exhibit since it opened in 2004. Note: This identification guide only features butterflies that have been included in the exhibit. It is not intended to cover all species worldwide. Ranges
This is a 12" x 18" poster of a series of watercolor butterflies & moths, that I did recently, with each insect identified at the base of the print. It has been professionally printed onto lovely matte 100 lb card stock and initialed and dated on the reverse. The generous top and bottom margins are perfect for framing using a wooden poster hanger (which also makes it very easy to change out posters every now and then). This listing does NOT include the wooden, magnetic poster hanger used in the photo. Your poster will be carefully packaged in a kraft tube for mailing. ** Frame not included **. I do my best to portray colors accurately, however different monitors (and cameras) will vary in how they display colors. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER AND GET 10% OFF: https://twigandmoth.myflodesk.com/newsletter ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ***Purchase does not transfer copyright. When we look at the butterfly we think of it as such a delicate and fragile creature of the natural world. It is surprising that there are species such as the Monarch that migrate great distances.

Usually when we talk about bugs or insects, we imagine something repulsive and gross, and even scary. Probably more than one of you even has a phobia and can’t stand those little critters. But it might surprise you that there are some bugs that have such interesting forms and colors that you entirely forget they are related to the cockroach living under your sink in your student dormitory.

INSTANT DIGITAL DOWNLOAD (please note, these are large files and may take a minute or two to download) Hi-Res, Editable, Royalty-Free These images are scanned from colour plates in the ten-volume “Children’s Encyclopaedia” edited by Arthur Mee and published by The Educational Book Company Limited, London. There is no date of publication, however the style and content put it somewhere in the 1930s, before the Second World War. The original colour plates were mechanically printed using rotary offset machines, with a separate pass through the rollers for each colour. You can just about see the fine dots of colour and the odd smear of ink if you zoom into the scans. You also see the texture and inconsistencies of the original paper, and a slight shadow down one side where the prints were bound into the book. The original printed pages measure 6.5 inches X 9.5 inches. YOU WILL GET: Four 300 dpi PNG files, each measuring: height approx. 2800 pixels X width approx. 1900 pixels, file sizes vary between 11.5 and 12 MB They can be printed off directly onto good quality archival matt paper to make fine prints to frame. Easily convertible to JPEGs You can also manipulate PNG files on a graphics editor like "Photoshop" or "Paint" to create your own digital artwork, or cut out elements for digital decoupage and scrapbooking without losing quality or resolution. I cannot accept returns on digital products, but if you have any problems or questions, please do contact me.
What are the world's rarest and most endangered butterflies? This quick and easy guide tells you all about these beautiful and critically imperiled insects.
One day I found myself in a dream. I still can't believe that I spent several days among hundreds of thousands of these beautiful creatures in Mexico. This amazing butterfly is called the danaid monarch. It is the only butterfly that migrates. From North America, thousands of monarchs fly to Mexico every year to spend the winter, breed, and fly back. The duration of the flight is much longer than the duration of their life, and the butterflies often return after wintering already in the second generation and flown away. Great-grandchildren.

Glass artist Laura Hart (previously) uses a range of techniques to translate her love of plants and animals into meticulously crafted sculptures. For her “Butterflies” series, the artist has recreated rare species and subspecies from around the world with bright colors and symmetrical designs that perfectly mimic their natural muses. Never recreating the same species twice, Hart casts the bodies of her one-of-a-kind insects using the lost wax molding and pate de verre kiln casting processes. More

Colorful real butterfly, Victorina stelenes from Peru, presented in a handmade 6"x6" wood frame. You will receive the exact same framed specimen that is shown in the pictures. I have prepared this specimen with the wings slightly lowered, in the style that was popular during the late 19th century. Wingspan measures 3.4 inches. Curious Kingdom has been lovingly crafting our handmade insect frames for over a decade. We have provided these natural displays for nature enthusiasts, museums, and television and film sets. Most of our insects are ethically sourced from farming operations located throughout the world. All of our insect frames are handmade from painted birch wood in New Orleans, Louisiana. I personally prepare each insect one at a time and put everything together here at my Bug Studio in Silver City, NM. All frames come with 99% UV protective glass so you don't have to worry about your investment ever fading. (Although it is a good idea to still keep out of direct sunlight.) Combined shipping for multiple purchases is just $2 extra for each additional bug.

This turns out not to be a monarch but a viceroy butterfly. Thank you KevinMHall for your astute observation. Made Explore page for Interestingness
