What is the “Lucky Girl Syndrome” the new trend on TikTok Tiktok. That’s it, that’s the intro. Ever since 2020, TikTok has become a major trendsetter in food, fashion, parenting, business, and of course lifestyle. With the New year, the resolutions, and vision boards becoming THE most important topics at the beginning of this new year 2023, the TikTok algorithm has once again put in the work with the “Lucky Girl” Syndrome, a new manifestation technique. As I am genuinely obsessed with everything goal setting, manifestation, and any technique that can help us achieve our goals, I just had to address “The Lucky Girl” Syndrome popularized by TikToker Laura Galebe. In her video, Laura explains that since she started believing and saying that she is the luckiest girl ever, the most insane opportunities have come her way. Laura also shares that many people usually tell her that by always expecting the best to come, she creates more room for disappointment. “What if it doesn’t turn out how you want it to be?” , to which she replies “Well, no. Because nothing ever doesn’t go my way. and if it doesn’t go the exact way that I want it to go, then something better comes up after it”. Following Laura, many more young women started sharing their journey and how they started becoming so lucky and open to new opportunities once they switched their mindset to the Lucky girl syndrome. In another viral TikTok by @skzzolno, two friends share how they suddenly become lucky when they genuinely started to believe that everything could work out. one of the girls said how they envisioned their apartment and both wanted bottom bedrooms, as the apartment had 2 bedrooms on the bottom and two on the top. And of course, they ended up getting just that. Their roommates wanted top bedrooms, and they got the bottom bedrooms. Just a product of pure luck? Maybe, but it’s definitely worth the try. And the TikTok community understood the assignment. Thousands of videos have popped up on the app since the beginning of the year, with TikTokers sharing their journey and/or how they will use this new manifestation technique in 2023. but is the Lucky Girl Syndrome real? And if it is real, how to use it? So, what is the Lucky Girl Syndrome?Basically, the Lucky girl Syndrome is a concept where you switch your mindset into thinking you are the luckiest girl (or boy) alive and start believing that great things come to you constantly and easily. You affirm it so frequently that eventually, you genuinely start believing it. It’s all about creating this feeling that the odds are always in your favor and never doubting your luck to get the opportunities you want until those great things happen to you. Lucky Girl syndrome is actually a form of the Law of assumption. The law of assumption explains that when we assume that what we want will happen, we manifest it in our lives. How? Well, Tiktok Taylor Carr brilliantly explains how our brain has RAS - Reticular activating system. “If you repeatedly affirm that you’re lucky, you’re likely to invest time and attention in confirming this viewpoint” - TikToker Taylor Carr Have you ever noticed how when you want something, for example, the Dyson Airwrap, you start seeing it everywhere? No, the amount of Dyson Airwrap hasn’t doubled over the night (well, with the hype around it, might have doubled), your brain just shows you what you want to have. So why isn’t it just called the Law of assumption or manifestation? Well, there is in fact a big difference between those concepts. In manifestation, you manifest things you want to happen, but you take certain actions to achieve what you are aiming for. On the other hand, in the lucky girl syndrome, you just believe you will get it, so you just go on with your life and lived for the universe to take action for you. Another smart thought from yet another TikTok and Therapist Laurnie Wilson, states that the reason why the law of assumption and the Lucky Girl syndrome works is thanks to Self-hypnosis. “if you tell yourself something enough and feel it when you say it, you can create new neural pathways in your brain”. https://www.tiktok.com/@laurnie.wilson How to use it?I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I am a big goal-getter and vision board girl. So no matter what the true reasoning behind it is, we have seen many (many!!) examples of it working that we should give it a try. Especially seeing how “easy” it is. HOW CAN YOU INCORPORATE THE LUCKY SYNDROME INTO YOUR LIFE?STEP 1: Visualise your end goal Although the Lucky Girl syndrome is based on “pure luck” I still think it is important to have a clear view of where you want to go in your life. STEP 2: Change the way you talk to yourself Doubting ourselves is way easier. That’s why we often find ourselves in spirals of negative thoughts. If you want to be the Luckiest girl alive, you have to stop thinking negatively about yourself. I know it’s easier said than done. Start by replacing the way you talk about yourself. For example, you could start enumerating the things you like about yourself instead of focusing on your insecurities. STEP 3: Raise your vibrations Negative energies are more powerful than positive energies. If you want to be the luckiest ever, you will need to strengthen your positive energy and that starts with your thoughts. Not only the way you talk about yourself has an effect, but also the way you see life in general. Start by practicing gratitude and celebrate all the little things that are worth celebrating. STEP 4: Use positive affirmations Positive affirmations are a great way to raise your vibrations, better the way you talk about yourself, and switch your mindset. On TikTok, you can find hundreds of positive affirmations you can use. Here are a few examples: "Everything I want always wants me more." "Everything always works in my favor." "The universe always has my back." "I am lucky." "Things are always happening for me." "I'm always in the right place at the right time." "Things happen easily, effortlessly, naturally for me." STEP 5: Do the work long enough for it to become a habit Apparently, it takes about 30 days to create a new habit. If you do not genuinely believe you're the luckiest girl alive, it won’t happen. It’s not with one day of affirmations that you will be able to switch your entire mindset. It takes time and a lot of practice. Stay focused on that. STEP 6: put yourself out there and get uncomfortable Opportunity will not end up sitting on your coach on a random Tuesday. You need to go out there (as an Introvert myself, trust me there’s nothing I’d rather do than stay at home). Basically, the Lucky Girl syndrome is about believing the universe got your back and switching to your main character era. And that is exactly the mood we’re going for in 2023. Remember, things don’t happen in a blink of an eye. Be patient and gentle with yourself. Don’t get frustrated if things don’t happen immediately, some things need time to be prepared, and so does your luck.
