“You’re such an agoniser, Bradley. You romanticise art. You’re a masochist about it, you want to suffer, you want to feel that your inability to create is continuously significant.” ― Iris Murdoch, The Black Prince Roland Topor understood his surroundings because he wasn’t of them? When you’re a stranger, everything is strange. And … Continue reading "The Masochists – A 1960 Study In Extreme Pain"

Hello Magenta fans! Mariëtte here with some playfull Nuance creations and to help you to go play with Nuance yourself I have some step by step instructions as well. Some step by step instructions I am working on A5 size watercolor paper of 200 grams. Sprinkle a color of Nuance on your craftsheet and add a spritz of water. Dip in your paper on several spots into the Nuance. And than dry your paper. Than do the same with another color and repeat the above process. This way you can add layers on top of each other. I have used the following Nuance colors: Jade, Purple, Golden Yellow, Coral, Berry and Ocean Adhere white ink thru a stencil to create some white circles Now I cut the A5 size background into a regular card and ATC. Make some highlight spots onto your background by adding a bit of distress ink (mustard seed and abondoned coral). I have also used some distress crayons for some little accents. Take some background stamps and randomly stamp them with distress oxide inks onto your background. Use colors that matches your background. Stamp some butterflies on your left over from your original background. I also added some more color to them with distress inks and coated them with a layer of thick embossing powder. Add some lines in black and gold with the use of the sideback of an old credit card. I also added some splatters. Last step is to add a sentiment and adhere the butterflies. The final card is at the top of this post, and below is the final ATC. I hope I have got you inspired and if so please share your creations with us on the Magenta Facebook fan page: Magenta Style Passion Studio Mariëtte van Leeuwen - DT Magenta ***** Produits Magenta utilisés: Magenta products used: Link to boutique Nuance H.0104 D.0047 N.0485 18.073.D 41.059.I 07.683.I 07.684.G TM24

The original painting has SOLD ! However, prints of this painting are available here. Summer Goddess is a Dryad, a tree spirit. Not only sensual and graceful, she embodies gentle beauty, power, and strength of the divine feminine. She is grounded in the earth through her roots and connected to the heavens through her uplifted branches. This image of the Goddess in the form of the Tree of Life expresses the abundance in the summer with lush green leaves and grass. The purple cloudy sky in the background conveys the promise of rain to bring soothing nourishment to her roots. This exploration of the trees in and around the Blue Ridge Mountains is radiant with primary colors of green brown purple and red with accents of blue and yellow. She is inspired by my love of Pagan, Shamanic, and Metaphysical art. My prints are standard sizes, making it easy to find mats and frames at any art supply or frame shop.
