A 2"x3" fridge magnet print depicting my original intarsia wooden art-work of a hollow right-hand surfing wave, reef-break and tidal pool. I'm a self taught artist specializing in colorful pet portraits and wooden intarsia pieces. Often depicting Ocean or wildlife scenes, I build these original intarsia pieces from the finest birch wood, coming all the way from Finland. *** I hold both South African & Canadian citizenship & my subject inspiration stems from happy memories of my youth in Africa, many adult years in Canada & random adventures whilst travelling the world as a surfer / adventurer & working on offshore oil-rigs. This colorful piece reminds me of my teens and warm Ocean water and Summer days and flirting with girls on the beach. I share my life with my rescue dog, Teddy. Ted is a medium size Chow-mix who loves kayaking, beach-combing, howling out the car window at pedestrians and belly rubs. He is sleeping at my feet and loudly snoring and farting as I type this. ***Intarsia is the art of fitting various shapes & sizes of wood together to create a mosaic style picture & the process dates back to the 7th century. Traditionally, different types of wood were selected according to their grain pattern & color to create display & variety within the artwork. I have chosen to break away from the traditional form of the discipline & have added paint as an additional bold medium to provide a whimsical yet contemporary feel whilst still embracing the more nostalgic traditions & craftmanship of Intarsia. ***I start the process by drafting a picture to form the pattern which is then transferred to the wood & individual pieces painstakingly & precisely sawed out before sanding. After this, the wood pieces are hand painted and sealed before being glued together to form the finished installation. ***Each Intarsia piece is fresh, vibrant, unique & a once off design which will create a talking point displayed in your home or office. Add a touch of character on any metal surface with these button magnets. Available in 1-packs or 10-packs, these rectangle magnets feature a metal shell front with a magnetic backing.
