Surry Hills is a very special place for me. It’s not only the first neighborhood I put my feet down on in Sydney. It is also the neighborhood where I got married. It represents so much for me that I had to use the name for this design. This cropped cardigan is knitted seamlessly, bottom up and a seamless set-in ¾ sleeve. The pattern has both charted and written instructions but the knitter should be familiar with following charts. This is an intermediate pattern with some intricate stitches and techniques but they are carefully explained or linked to other resources. Errata: On page 3 under Decrease, Note shall say: NOTE! When decreasing in lace pattern, omit all yo’s on last repeat of the right hand front, first and last repeat of the sleeves and back and on the first repeat of the left hand front unless they are directly followed by a k2tog or placed directly after an ssk. It’s very helpful to have a stitchmarker between each repeat!*

The Design “The perfect first sweater—for baby and for knitter.” There’s something sweet, even naïve, about an all-garter-stitch baby sweater. It’s a perfect first sweater—for baby and for knitter. And, whether it’s your first sweater or your hundredth, you’ll appreciate not having to add front or neck bands when you’re done. That’s the beauty of garter stitch. Blue Sky Fibers’ Organic Cotton Worsted is wonderful for this sweet little sweater. The natural softness of 100% certified organic cotton bounces through this worsted-weight yarn’s loose, 2-ply twist. Learn to knit the classic Turkish stitch, an adorable one-row repeat pattern, so easy that it includes only four steps to be repeated throughout the project!
The first seaming technique that most crocheters learn is the whipstitch. While whipstitching has a time and a place, there are several other types of seams used to join two pieces of crocheted fabric, such as the flat slip stitch seam. The flat slip stitch seam is my favorite crochet seaming technique that's often used to join crocheted squares or hexagons for afghans. Aside from the whipstitch or mattress stitch, the flat slip stitch seam is one of the flattest seaming techniques used and when you use a contrasting color of yarn to work the seam, as I did in my Succulent Spring Hexagon Afghan, it creates a visually stunning effect!
Using short-rows to create colourful patterns is not a new technique. It’s been used by many knitwear designers across many extremely popular patterns. Surprisingly, no one has explained the technique in full detail or taught it on a widespread level—until now. Woolly Wormhead, known for their innovative hat constructions, presents the first book to develop, teach, and fully utilise short-row colourwork knitting. Beginning with an in-depth and illustrated step-by-step section, Woolly teaches the core concepts. With that new knowledge, knitters can then move on to explore and practice from a stitch dictionary of 50+ stitch patterns. To round out the book, 10 accessory patterns from various designers from around the world are included, showcasing the beauty, ease of accessibility, and versatility of this technique

By Danish designer Helga Isager. English language. First the front edge is worked in rib. Stitches are cast on using the Italian cast-on technique and bound off using the Italian bind-off technique. When the front edge is finished, stitches are picked up and knitted along its side and the two sides of the cardigan are worked out from there. Decreases are worked along the top of the shoulders and on the sleeves to create a better fit, and at the same time stitches are bound off for the sides and sleeves. The sleeves are finished with a tight cuff in rib. Did you also learn to work rows of Four-Sided stitches like me – from the front of the fabric and from right to left? Working hundreds of hems using Four-Sided stitches, I discovered a much easier and faster way of stitching. It is worked from the back of the fabric and from left to right. Working this way is going to be the least stressful on your wrist joint, because in two of the needed three stitches it is held straight, and for only one stitch it is bent. Did you test it already?
