Little Miss History Travels to Independence Hall and the Museum of the American Revolution by Barbara Ann Mojica, illustrated by Victor Ramon Mojica, is a brief history of the American Revolution, its architecture, and the writing of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The character of Little Miss History has been inserted into photographs of historical scenes and buildings. This book could serve as a guide to a future young tourist in the Old City area of Philadelphia. It mentions highlights such as Elfreth’s Alley and some of the statues around Independence Hall, as well as the preserved tent from which George Washington led the revolution. Ever wonder what the chair looked like that George Washington sat in at the Constitutional Convention? This book has a photo of that chair. If you look closely, you can see the sun carved into the backrest that so fascinated Benjamin Franklin. Want to see the “rude bridge” mentioned in Ralph Waldo Emerson’s The Shot Heard Round the World? This book has a photo. I live in Philadelphia – this book is a teaser. Come to Philadelphia and see all these sights and more. The glossary at the end of this book lists many terms you will hear if you take any of the historic and neighborhood tours available here. This is the 12th book in the Little Miss History series. Little Miss History certainly picked a site where history is preserved and loved when she picked Philadelphia.
