The 1930s #vintage diner was known for its #burgers 🍔🍟 #fries and milk shakes and was owned by Sunny Sharma. The TV show "Friends" used Moondance as the #diner where the character Monica, played by Courtney Cox worked. Moondance Diner was also used by the film "Spider-Man" as the place where Mary Jane Watson played by Kirsten Dunst was employed. Luckily the diner was saved from demolition and purchased for $7,500 by Vince and Cheryl Pierce, who moved the structure by flat-bed truck to LaBarge, Wyoming at a cost of $40,000. After some much needed repairs, they reopened the diner in Wyoming in 2008 where it remained in operation until 2012. We especially loved the diner's rotating moon 🌙 #sign and the sparkling ✨ #lettering spelling "Moondance" in an interesting #font. We haven't heard any news on the fate of this diner since its closure a few years ago but hope that it will again be saved. #storefront #disappearingfaceofnewyork

When we took this HOBBY SHOP photo in 2010 for our book, “Store Front II- A History Preserved” we interviewed the manager who told us that the owner built model planes ✈️ and cars 🚗 as a hobby before opening the store but that they “now specialize in radio control cars and sell parts and do repairs but we have a full line of other hobby items too. Many of our customers have been coming here for years and often now even bring their grandchildren in with them.” We not only loved hearing about the history of the shop but also fell in love with this #hobbyshop original #signage with its model train 🚂 and plane.

Marie's Crisis Cafe dates back to the 1850s, when it operated as a prostitutes' den. It became a bar by the 1890s and even remained open during Prohibition when it was known just as "Marie's". The "Crisis" was added to the name from the "Crisis Papers" by Thomas Paine who died in the building. It now operates primarily as a piano bar where patrons can sing Broadway show tunes along with the piano player.
