Margaret Sampson George’s Dodecagon Quilt Pattern, templates and papers packs are all included in this purchase ! The iSpy Template Set makes the cutting out of this quilt very easy and the papers can be used over again if you are careful with them and stitch them rather than using glue.

This is the first time I have offered Free Wheeling as a paper pattern with all 3 packs of some of Margaret Sampson George’s favourite go to blocks for making borders or corners They have been offered previously as digital patterns only I used these blocks or a selection of them to make the tablecloth that we presented to Marg for her special birthday last year, so many have admired it and so this is where the blocks for it came from So in this purchase you will get all 3 packs of the patterns to use as you wish, but you may also want to explore making your own tablecloth customised to fit your own table It’s simply a matter of measuring your table, adding the hangover required and then choosing the blocks to use, it’s a fun process Give it a go and create your own design
This year QITB featured the quilts of Margaret Sampson-George and her talented students. The Barn was overflowing with hexies, birds, fruit, flowers, baskets, crowns and hares. This was the raffle quilt 'Out of the Blue' which raised money for Beyond Blue. You can purchase the pattern from Liz's Broderie etsy shop. We can't post photos of whole quilts so here are some snippets. I'll just let the pictures do the talking... It was an over-whelming experience to see these quilts en masse, it made me feel as though my own quilts are quite boring. Really makes you think about fabric and colours and how everything can be combined from repro to Kaffe Fassett to Aboriginal prints. Thanks to Linda and her helpers; and Margaret Sampson-George and her students for this wonderful opportunity. Wishing you a safe and peaceful Easter.
This quilt was absolutely beautiful and i would love to make this quilt myself, but as you will be able to see by the photos there was an issue with an excess of fabric. With some clever quilting t…

Early in February I shared the start of a new project -- Marge Sampson-George's lovely Dodecagon pattern which is now available in this Etsy shop -- pattern, templates, and papers! Click HERE. I didn't make as much progress on it while vacationing in Florida (all the birding and fresh air left me pretty tired at the end of the day), but I've been chipping away at it since my return and a more concrete plan for my version has begun to evolve. I started with a set of Andover reproduction style fabrics purchased at Mary Koval's shop in Bedford, PA. The one on the left is from Di Ford and I think the one on the right is one of Mary's lines. I've added lots more pieces to the assortment from my stash -- the number of yellows has grown as I love the pop that color brings to the individual blocks. Isn't this one great? I started with quite a few greens and . . . reds but have been adding to the assortment whenever I come across another piece that will add some texture or an unexpected element. I've added more grays and blacks to enrich the palette. Plus a few interesting browns. The first audition together felt a little blah -- especially when one looks at the versions of this quilt on Instagram coming out of Marge's workshops in Australia. One of the lasting lessons I learned from Mary Ellen Hopkins was black always fixes "blahs". So I put together a ring of black hexies for one of the setting necklaces and have been auditioning it with some large prints I want to incorporate to replace four or five of the dodecagons. I took photos of all three so I can study them side by side to decide whether to just use one or two of them or all three. At this point, it's a real toss-up. They all look great to me! More staring and contemplation are required. Here's more close-ups of the individual units I've assembled so far. I've decided against doing any really tightly managed fussy cutting but am controlling the directional prints to they don't distract the eye. So far this is the most somber one -- I'll have to be sure to make one or two more that are similar so it doesn't stand out. I'm finding the little binding clips helpful to hold pieces together once I get them aligned. I can get one basted in an evening and the next evening, I stitch it together. I'm making it smaller than Marge's suggested plan -- there are too many other EPP projects waiting for me out there so cutting the size down helps me hurry towards those faster! Last weekend of winter here in Northeast Ohio! Hope you are having lots of stitching time this weekend! Mary

My one monthly goal this month is to make the EPP blocks to finish my Smitten Quilt. This quilt has been started and stopped so many times that I’ve lost count. At this stage, I’ll be happy to have to blocks out together, but wow, wouldn’t it be nice to have a completed quilt top by the end of March? Linking up with Elm Street Quilts

Apologies for those following my journey waiting with baited breath for the next instalment of my take on Jen’s Circle Game. (Well that’s mum apologised to, and even then, I have my doubts!) For everyone else I am sure you know and have experienced the best intentions of BoMs and how time slips by. There have been several competing factors, one I’ll blame Jen for, the others are just life. Some of you may have seen my journey through Jen’s Delilah ToM on my Instagram page (@live.breathe.create). I was determined to get this finished and quilted and into the NSW quilt show, along with my second entry which was a wedding ring quilt I designed for my eldest daughter. This was only 5 years late, but as I am led to believe as wedding (ring) quilts go that’s pretty standard and probably ahead of the game!
This wonderful quilt is called Mirabella and now the template set is available to purchase with the pattern. This quilt can be handpieced or machine pieced, whichever is your personal choice. It’s a great way of using pieces of your favourite fabrics to showcase them in this wonderful scrappy way ! Finished size is 64 inches square ( I personally am making my third one )

Excitement is growing here at Quilts In The Barn!! Its only 3 weeks till we open the barn doors on what is shaping up to be an amazing exhibition. Featuring the quilts of Marg Sampson-George ( an amazing teacher from the Blue Mountains in Sydney) and her students, there has been many sneak peaks flashing around Instagram and other social media, as many continue to progress towards finished quilts to display. The lovely Jean, and Liz, along with Marg are the main organisers behind this exhibition. These 3 ladies have stitched their little fingers off over the Christmas break to make a stunning raffle quilt, which was hand quilted by Trish Harper, that one very lucky person will win. Raffle tickets are selling fast, and they can be found in many quilt shops, both here in Victoria and other states. The list can be found on the back of the flyer. ( photo from Broderie Blog) If you haven't seen the flyer, here is the front, Proudly supporting Beyond Blue. And here is the back of the flyer with a little more info. Here are a couple of sneak peak of just a few of the quilts we will have on exhibit. Just to wet your appetite! This one is Marg's. This one belongs to Denise. These cute rabbits, which is one of Marg's signature shapes, belongs to Gaye. This one belongs to Kerry. This one belongs to Liz ( who is one of the organisers) This belongs to Moira. And this one belongs to Verity. We also have the event below planned for a few nights before the exhibition opens. This is an amazing opportunity to see inside the mind of an incredible artist. So, hope you can join us at one or all of the events we have planned. Its going to be so much fun!! Be sure and say hello!! Thanks for visiting. Linda.
