Math Puzzles are a great option for your early finishers, math centers, enrichment opportunities, morning work, or even intervention groups. Each puzzle focuses on a math skill. There are 10 pieces to each puzzle. Each puzzle piece has a math problem for the student to solve. Then the student assembles the puzzle by putting their pieces in order from least to greatest. These puzzles also come with a student checklist. Each puzzle has a title in the upper right hand corner. This is an easy way for the student to identify the puzzle on his/her checklist. ***UPDATE: There is now a monthly math puzzle student recording sheet included in this bundle! Students write the name of the puzzle and the answers they got on the recording sheet. We've also added an editable recording sheet as well! Great for accountability and quick check assessment of skills!*** Each puzzle comes with four options for printing: Option #1: full color puzzle (laminate, cut, write, & wipe) Option #2: black and white puzzle (print on bright paper, laminate, cut, write, & wipe) Option #3: student template (pieces mixed up for student to solve, cut, and assemble into a notebook or on a piece of construction paper) Option #4: EDITABLE puzzle pieces for you to customize to meet the needs of your classroom ************************************************************************** September Math Puzzles The math skills covered in these puzzles are: addition to 20, subtraction within 20, counting coins, number rounding to 10, number rounding to 100, addition without regrouping, addition with regrouping, domino addition, multiplication, 10 more/10 less, 1 more/1 less, number bonds, number words 0-9, number words 10-19 Take a closer look at the September puzzles HERE! Hi there! It's Lauren from A Teachable Teacher ! Today I'm going to share an oldie (but a goodie) from my own blog. Earth Day is in less than two weeks (April 22). We've been busy creating new Earth Day projects in my first grade classroom. I can't wait to share them with you, but it will have to wait until after open house. ;-) For now, here is what I did with my Kindergarteners for Earth Day last year. These activities are sure to get your students writing about what they've learned! In my ESL Kindergarten class, we focused a lot of energy on writing. Before we write, we do a lot of brainstorming with books, videos, and graphic organizers. Here's a fun cartoon we watched that teaches about Earth Day. My students love this song that teaches them how THEY can reduce, reuse, and recycle. After watching videos and reading books, we wrote in our graphic organizers! There are three to choose from: Earth Day Recycling I Love the Earth The folding and snipping makes writing a lot more fun. ;-) These Earth Day Fold & Snip books are easy to make and even easier to differentiate! Because they are so versatile, they can be used in classes K-2! After filling our graphic organizers with words and pictures, we used them to form paragraphs! All the hard work and brainstorming was done, and it made writing a piece of cake! Click here download these for FREE. I have also created an Earth Day Reader and Writing Activities. You can check them out here. I hope you have fun foldin', snippin' and writin' about Earth day and nature next week! How do you celebrate Earth Day your classroom?
This Doodle Vocabulary resource will introduce your students to 50 words associated with geography. Students will not only learn the new vocabulary words associated with the 5 Themes of Geography, they’ll also showcase their learning with doodles! You can use this resource in a variety of ways! You might: Create a single packet filled with the doodle vocabulary pages that students can reference all year long. Select specific pages that relate to particular units that students are studying and highlight words. Teach all the words at once as in introduction to geography. Have students add definitions to their doodle vocabulary all year long. Everything that you’ll need to use this set of Doodle Vocabulary is included in this resource! You’ll find: Instructional tips and tricks for teachers A Doodle Vocabulary cover page (This is great if students will be creating a vocabulary packet.) Vocabulary Mini-Quizzes (6 different quizzes to test students’ learning.) Vocabulary Test for all words Teacher Keys (vocabulary, quizzes, and test) There are two versions of the Geography Doodle Vocabulary pages included. This way, you can find the set that works best for your class or for individual students. Doodle Vocabulary Guided Notes – In this version, students will complete the words’ definitions by filling in some notes on the lines provided. Doodle Vocabulary Blanks – In this version, students will need to write out the entire definition for each word. The words included cover the 5 Themes of Geography. The words are organized under each theme of geography. This makes it easy to break up the words into meaningful chunks. Why doodle? When students doodle or create sketches of something, they’re activating different parts of their brains. This helps students to make connections. Simple sketches or doodles are also powerful mnemonic devices, so students will also be able to remember the words and their meanings longer. Plus…doodling in class makes learning instantly more fun and engaging! Special Features of this Resource: Besides the 7 different doodle vocabulary pages (provided in two formats for easy differentiation), you’ll also find these pages included in the resource: Blank Page – There’s a blank doodle page for students to add more words, create study guides, or practice their learning. Mini-Quizzes – Instead of a long unit test, there’s also 6 mini-quizzes. This makes it easy to assess students as they learn the words. Unit Test – If you would prefer to assess students after learning all of the words, there’s a unit test, too! More Social Studies Resources Ancient Civilizations Bundle filled with interactive projects – Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, Ancient India, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome Europeans Come to New York Other Doodle and Do Resources… ELEMENTS of FICTION Doodle Vocabulary - Students learn 36 words associated with fiction and doodle along the way! I did it. I said goodbye to the owls and chose a new theme for my classroom this year. I was a little nervous about it because it took me forever to make a decision on a theme. But I love all my chalkboards and neons and am pleased with how it turned out. Welcome to my 2014/2015 Classroom. The view from the door... Ready for Open House...even though I wont' be there. I am in OBSESSED with this bulletin board. I cannot wait to add their pictures from the first day of school and then change that hashtag out throughout the year. I usually despise bulletin boards. Last year my board was blank all year. But I am super happy about this turned out. This shelf holds supplies for students and is where they will turn in their work. I bought these solid black panels but they were too short so I extended them with the green fabric. My space... Filled with work ready for the first week. A few special owls got to stick around. The view from my desk... Table Caddies I think I'm going to add a cushion to my stool. The front of the room... My other whiteboard.... That's the full tour. What do you think? Think it will make math a little more fun for my students?
