I´m trading used postage stamps with Pam from Canada and thought I wanted to put a sample in her envelope to show her what I usually do with postage stamps - and as I´ve read in our group´s database that she likes Steampunk, I let Nofretete from Ancient Egypt visit the "Ruhrgebiet", the industrial area just around my corner ... doesn´t she look like an Industrial Queen? Hello all! I am here today to share my latest Art Journal page with you. I have worked with the 'Tag Page' from my Park Ave Penthouse Journal from Bad Girls Couture This is how my page looks with it's tags in their homes :) This is how it looks with them out. I have used a bit of a fortune teller theme to this page. I have started with some Molding Paste to stencil some texture onto my tags. I have then added some colour with my Haute Mess Acrylic Paints. I have used 'Dive Bar', 'Distortion' and 'Bad & Tatted' I have then added some elements from the 7 Dots Studio 'Fortune Teller' collection. I have then given the same effect to my page, using the same colours and elements. I love the natural feel to this collection. I have also used some lace in co-ordinating colours. Some more close ups :) I hope you like what I have created. You can watch the whole process in the video below. Thanks so much for stopping by! Lisa xoxo I have used the following products from Bad Girls Couture Haute Mess Clear Gesso Haute Mess Molding Paste Haute Mess Acrylic 'Dive Bar' Haute Mess Acrylic 'Distortion' Haute Mess Acrylic 'Bad & Tatted' & 7 Dots Studio Fortune Teller collection.

I've been having a wonderful time creating my first gluebook. Mary of Green Paper has made many of these...and they're so gorgeous that she had requests to offer a workshop on them. So, what's a gluebook? Here's the answer in Mary's own words: Vintage Gluebook? What’s a glue book? It’s a book containing art made with paper and glue. A freeing way to play and practice, a gluebook strips away paints, inks, rubber stamps and embellishments. It focuses primarily on collage. What’s a vintage gluebook? It’s a gluebook made with vintage imagery and paper, creating antique-style collage. I'm creating my gluebook in a 3.5 inch by 5.5 inch moleskine sketchbook but there are really no rules...you can use anything you like. It's been so much fun to gather some images (Mary has shared tons of her gorgeous images) cut and glue. Here are the first few pages I've completed. You have to try this!
I love the beautiful creations at Be... Dream... Play... This creation inspired me to make my own little bundle book. I bundled some pages and sticks, a tea bag decorated cover and a strip of sewn fabric to create this little book. The pages were decorated with splashes of walnut ink, bits of ink and pieces of decorated paper. The tea bag cover is actually two tea bags glued together for strength, with layers of paint, ink and stampings, a photo I took a few years ago, and finished off with a layer of wax. A whole bundle of inspiration wrapped together. (thanks eb)

The journal I've been making, my largest ever, is now in it's new home. I enjoyed ever minute of the process and am soon about to start some smaller ones for my etsy, first though I have to complete another order for a junk journal, it's all assembled, just waiting for it's covers. I'll post photos when it's complete. Here's some more shots of the 'big' journal. This is the cover and spine. I created a pocket inside the cover with a piece of embellished felt, I then added one of my owls. These pages are similar to what I will be teaching in Sydney next year, see here. As are these. and these. I also have a workshop coming up at home this weekend. I will be teaching the foam printing plates again. We will be printing on tissue paper and also on fabric. I made some more foam plates and did some fabric printing on calico with them. There are still a couple of vacancies if anyone wishes to attend, just email me for details. Foam printing plates. Printing onto fabric. Next time I hope to have some photos on my new entrance into my studio. I can now access my studio from my work room where I teach my classes. All of the students who attend my classes at home know how I've been hanging out for a doorway to connect the two rooms. Previously I had to go up and down stairs to get from one to the other.

Over the years I have received lots of emails and messages with questions about journaling, different types, styles, what to write about, etc. However, the one type of journal that always prompts the most questions is the junk journal. What Even is a Junk Journal?A junk journal is typically a book made up of all different types of papers and material, that might otherwise have ended up in the bin - hence being called a "junk" journal.
