It’s Saturday and time for another fun challenge here at Send a Smile 4 Kids! This time our challenge is Happy Mother’s Day (From the Kids). Create and link any card for Mother’s Day that a child could give his or her mother and you could win one of our great prizes. As always, we start early with our holiday challenges so if you wish to send in your card for one of our kids to use to give to their Mother or Grandmother or any one special on Mother’s Day if they are in the hospital on that day, we will get them in time to get to the children’s hospitals we serve. You are not required to send in your cards to participate in our challenges, but our kids sure love when you do. We also will be collecting and distributing cards for Father’s Day from the Kids, so keep the Dads in mind when you are making cards as well. That challenge will be May 3rd-May 16th. All upcoming challenges are listed on the side of the blog so you can plan your card making ahead of time if you wish. We have three very generous sponsors for this challenge: Doodle Pantry is giving their winner a $10 gift certificate! A Day for Daisies is giving their randomly picked winner a $12 gift certificate! And Stitchy Bears Digital Outlet’s winner gets 2 digis (a $6 value)! TEAM S.A.S will also be choosing their favorite cards for our top three and the winners will receive a blog badge and an opportunity to be a guest design team member on a future challenge. We are happy to welcome a previous Top Three winner today as a guest design team member. Dawn Frost shared this sweet card with us using a Doodle Pantry image: Now for some more great inspiration, here are the cards created by TEAM S.A.S. for this challenge using our generous sponsors’ images. Welcome back to another hop. There are so many stamp options for our theme this month… But I stuck with the beautiful Forest Butterfly kit for my cards. Finally got around to creating some cards the last few days, as, I must admit, it’s been a busy month again - my master bedroom and bathroom had major renovations! The only major thing left…painting will be done in June! And my husband finally retired from a long career, so I’ve been busy with him, enjoying our grandchild, decluttering the house, and gardening. So, crafting has taken a backseat as we settle into a new rhythm of life. This month, I, along with others, will be giving away a new stamp set from my stash. I will pick and announce a winner next month from the comments received on this post. So be sure to provide feedback on the cards or the kit before you leave my post! For the first card, I matched colors on a paper from a Somerset Studio magazine to watercolor the butterflies from the kit. To add a sparkling effect, I used some Brea Reese Metallic inks over the top. I fussy cut them out and used some Tim Holtz papers for added trim. I white embossed the sentiment, added coordinating sequins and twine, and called this one done. For the second card, I used Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink with a stencil to create a background for the butterfly. I then used a combo of blue and yellow inks to add colors to the butterfly. I then fussy cut the butterfly out. Finally, I used Chic Script Salutations with white and colored paper to create the sentiment on this one. I added large crystals and declared this one done. Hope these cards provide some simple ideas and inspiration for you to use on your cards! Till next time happy crafting! Now on to the hop! To get to my blog, you may have come from: Kim’s blog Next up is: Dawn’s blog And to start from the beginning, check out: Crystal’s blog
Yikes! Made a list of all the cards I need to make this month, for this and next month, realizing between birthdays and anniversaries I have a slew to make! So, to begin, decided to make a card for my son and DIL who are expecting their first child next month! For this card, I used last month’s Unity LOL kit, called Notice Moments (8/18). To begin, I pulled out a Spectrum Noir Aqua paper and cut it down closer to size. I sprayed the sheet lightly with a light peach/orange Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. Using my Misti, I stamped the image in Coffee Archival ink and, then, restamped the clock face in Potting Soil and the flower in Monarch Orange. I then pulled out peach, orange and rust colored Distress inks, 2 greens, and Vintage Photo. I began painting the image again moving between areas and lights and darks, drying when needed. I added shadows to the image and spattered droplets of the paint. I also added a few white drops. Finally, I added a few stencil additions to the paper and then diecut it. I then turned to the sentiment. I decided to use different kits here. I pulled out a vintage gridded paper for this. First, I used the family words from Bitty Backgrounds with the red ink to coordinate colors. (They probably won’t notice it, but I know it’s there!) I then clear embossed the sentiment from Unity’s Loving Today kit with Olive Green Archival ink. To complete the card, I used a coordinating background paper, added color to the edges, used a brad with a clock face on it (!), added raffia, sticky dots and some sequined flowers! Inside it will say Happy Anniversary! Certainly is a special time in their life...where every moment will count! Hope you like this one! Remember, I am participating in a #papercraftersfollowloop, wherein, I will reciprocate following you (even your blogs) if you follow me. It’s meant to encourage fellow crafters and to acquire some inspiration for myself! If you’d like to participate, follow me and just leave a comment with your blog name! Thanks for visiting!
Early this morning, for a complete change, I decided I wanted to paint a quick floral card. My eyes just happened upon the 2017 Penny Black Kit, called Berries Delight, that I had used a sentiment from on yesterday’s card. I started by stamping the small vase image on a paper I could use as a mask and fussy cut it out. I then stamped it on watercolor paper using InkOn 3 Fadeout Noline ink. I masked that area and stamped the spray “behind” the first image. I then watercolored the image using my Schmincke watercolors. I used a loose style of watercoloring keeping to a yellow/green/brown palette... a big needed change from all the Christmas cards colors and larger floral images. Once done, I lightly spattered yellow/gold and green paints on the image. Pulling out my Perfect Pearls, I added small gold spatters. Finally, I added Dylusions white spatters. When all the paint was dry, I stamped and clear embossed the sentiment using Versafine Clair Pinecone ink. I die cut the watercolor paper and found a great matching patterned paper from the My Mind’s Eye Wander pad (came in a Simon Says Stamp! year end mystery craft box). I never would have picked this pad because of the images, but the colors are great! I used the leftover patterned scraps inside the card. To complete the card, I added sparkly crystal dots. Thanks for stopping by! Hope you enjoyed this change as much as I did! Remember, if you are interested in following me, there are 2 ways: add your email address or click follow! Have a great day and, till next time, happy crafting!

Wanted to make at least 1 Halloween card for the Season. So, after pulling out Unity’s Spooky Girl, I also grabbed Pink Paislee’s Spellcast paper pad. I also pulled out an Oct. 31 stamp, from That’s Creepy Kit, that I received in a grab bag. I originally thought I’d paper piece the girl, but instead ended up using the image I stamped on the gold flecked paper and used my Prismacolors directly on her. I stamped and black embossed the October stamp on an orange sheet. I then decided to use Tim Holtz Idealogy Halloween Remnant Rubs to add some fun details. I pulled another sheet to use as the base, stamped a script stamp from Make Today kit. I fussy cut some hexagons from the same paper and used a non-Unity kit to add a bottle and fly. I stamped and embossed the sentiment on another scrap. I inked up all the paper edges in black, added web and spider embellishments, Trick or Treat washi tape, sequins and black and white twine. Not how I envisioned the card, but you have to give your creativity free reign...no matter where it leads! Wishing you a Happy Halloween and happy crafting!

This is my first attempt at making a bendy fold card. I love the softness of the Ariana paper. I used the cricut to cut out the shapes to help accent this card. Here is a close up of the flowers I made to hide where the tab fits into the card. The cards below show how dull a card looks when you take a picture without enough light. They still show you the mechanics of the card. Below I will give you the measurements, so you can make one for yourself. Below is the card when it's open. Start with: 2.... 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 pcs of cardstock (whatever you want the base to be) Take one of those pcs and cut it the long way at 2 1/4" so you will have 2 long pcs, Score those long pcs at one end at 1/2". On the other end make a tab (see above picture) Cut background texture paper to cover cardstock in the following sizes. 2 ....4x 5 1/4" 2.... 4 1/2 x 2 1/4 2.... 4 1/2 x 1 1/2 Glue large b&t to one side of cardstock, measure 4" from the left side on the 5 1/2" length. Line up the 2 1/4 strip along the bottom edge, so you know how long to make the slit. Cut the slit so the tab fits in it and the strip in flush with the bottom edge. Glue the scored 2 1/4 strip on the left side with the scored pc on the back. On that strip, measure 2" from the fold, line up the other strip so you know how long to make the slit. Put top b&t on wide strip and re-cut the slit from the back. Glue the narrow strip on the right side. Put b&t paper on the rest of your project, don't put glue near the slits. Decorate the card, if you want the card to fit into a regular envelope be careful not to put the back decoration to high. Choose 3-D flowers (cut with cricut) or flat flowers to put on side to cover up the slit. Anything can be used to decorate. Let me know if you have any questions! Enjoy!

Happy Weekend Everyone, Today's post is for the Dynamic Duo's Challenge this week and our colours are Basic Grey and Regal Rose plus Neutrals. I decided to go with Apothecary Art as my focal point and build around it with the new Labels Collection Framelits and some Twitterpated DSP. I embossed the Regal Rose panel with Provo Crafts Textile EB Folder and sponged it with Regal Rose to highlight the embossing. The satin ribbon and pearls are my finishing touches. Supplies: Stamps: S/U's Apothecary Art, Card and Papers: Basic Grey, Regal Rose, Whisper White, DSP Twitterpated Ink: Stazon Black, Regal Rose Markers: Regal Rose, Basic Grey Finishing Touches: Basic Grey Satin Ribbon, Pearls Tools: Big Shot, Sizzix Framelits - Labels Collection, Sizzix Edgelits - Adorning Accents, Sizzix Petals -A-Plenty EB Folder, Provo Craft Textiles EB Folder, Aqua Painter, Sponge, Dimensionals, Dble Sided Tape After much cleaning and sorting of our goods and shackles we are finally starting to see some progress in re-organising our home after decorating. Still a little bit to do, but that might be put on hold for a while. We have been planting a lot of our garden with seedlings for Spring and tidied up the rest of the yard around the house. Unfortunately last week my computer decided to crash after much frustration on my part for months with everything constantly locking up, but hopefully some of the issues has been solved. I hope to be back soon creating for the challenges I love to do and have missed. My craft area is coming together slowly with quite a few changes, now I just need to tidy up those items I don't use much and find a home for them. Hope your having a fabulous day creating. Hugs,
