Rondle West is mostly self-taught. His assemblage sculptures reflects a fondness of found objects and consists of metal, wood, toys and spray paint, as well as different types of adhesives. He uses cartoons characters, pop culture references and science fiction or technological elements—all forged into one statement on religion, evolution and science—and the result is often so overwhelming that one struggles to comprehend the different levels of texture at play. ’You never quite know where to direct your eye first,’ he says. ‘For me they’re like little mini stage sets. They tell a story. It’s like looking at a theater production.’ West lives in Cincinnati and Palm Springs.

My older daughter has been living and working in Korea for over a year now, and soon my husband and I will travel there to see her. A couple of her Korean co-workers have been so wonderful to her, and I wanted to bring them each a little gift. We like to travel light, so the gifts had to be small and easy to pack. I asked my daughter for hints as to what they might like as far as colors and themes, and decorated an Altoids tin for each of them. One of her co-workers loves children's literature, and works as an English translator, so the tin with the kids and the alphabet around it is for her. Another really loves teal, so the butterfly tin is hers. The third tin is for the parents of one of her friends, who I hear is going to invite us over for a traditional Korean meal. Mmmm! Since I don't know them, I just went with sort of neutral papers I like. When I get there, I'm going to put some delicious Dove chocolates in each tin before I give them. Look how perfectly they fit inside! I hope I can find some great ephemera in Korea to use in future projects!
Kids are naturally wired to play and imagine. But when we (I'm guilty of this myself) give them tons of toys that do everything, they don't need to imagine anything. So give your kids a cardboard challenge - to find the hidden objects in the boxes like Michelangelo did with blocks of granite. The boxes require imagination. They won't do anything without it.
"Chisnall creates art that references such things as structure, time and Modernism as they pass through a very contemporary mindset that focuses on humor, transience, functionality and futility.” D. Dominick Lambardi, 'Repurposing With a Passion', The Huffington Post.

Morning Crafters, Well I'm back from my little holiday. We had a lovely time, riding through the woods on our bikes, even a bit of off-roading, thanks to the men, typical. We tried our hand at Archery, which I enjoyed but wasn't very good at, I just got it right one shot before the end as the Trainer advised that I was holding my hand too low. My younger sister was a dab hand at the Archery, hitting the bulls eye several times, I think she must of done some training before we came away, lol. Thank you to all that have visited my blog whilst I was away and leaving me comments, I know it takes time and I really do appreciate each and every one. The theme today at LLC is the lyrics from "It's a Wonderful World". I have chosen inspiration from "Trees are GREEN" and "red ROSES too", so I have used green and roses in my lace book as well as the papers. I'm sure you are all familiar with the new collection by MayaDesign called Sofiero, aren't they beautiful and how can they make this collection a limited one, are they mad. Anyway it will come as no surprise to you today that I have used 3 papers from this collection to make my lace book. I have been dying to make one of these books ever since Elin posted hers, soooo gorgeous and inspirational, thank you Elin. Hope you like my version.... I found the vintage pages on Pinterest, aren't they fab and if you want to print them too, head on over to my Pinterest where you will find the link. I printed several and cut the front and back of the book out of mount board and made the pages for the lace out of cardboard so that I could pin the lace in if necessary. The dress is made out of 3 of the MayaDesign Sofiero papers, links at the bottom of the page. I used 2 inch book rings so that I could put all those scraps of lace somewhere handy too. Here's a picture of the book before I added all the little scraps of lace that come in handy to tie on tags. You will also notice the Melissa Frances resin corner on the right hand side, love these. Here's a picture of the back of the book and I added the Maya Road sewing kit. I coloured the scissors and the needle with a silver leaf pen. And here's a peek at some of my lace collection. I would like to enter my lace book into the following challenges:- Bastel-Traum - Shabby Chic/Vintage Card and Scrap - Anything Goes Just for Fun Challenge Blog - Anything Goes TokboBok - Vintage Crafty Calendar - Anything Goes Hugs Tracy x

Hi Everyone, I am here today to share with you a special steampunk project. This project has been created using the OTP which was included as part of the May Flying Unicorn Kit. I decided to decorate my book box with a number of different items, but the base I have used comes from the STUNNING new papers from Marion Smith called Timekeeper. I love myself some steampunk style and I love myself some over the top, as per usual when I thought I had finished, I hadn't. I kept on adding a few bits and bobs here and there. Again I ask you all, is too much ever too much? no, never!!. A lot of the metal you can see below are Flying Unicorn Adornments, man of which has been cut up (especially the ones you can see lining the wings of Mr Timekeeper).
