Good Afternoon Everyone! Last night I played in my journal again! Love it! This morning I got up to finish it up. Now in the mood to cut some chipboard and get 3 dimensional! It's funny how you can be away from it for a couple of days and have this absolute need to get back to it...But first I thought I would share my art journal pages with you. I was trying to find a way to incorporate more tags into a page. So, I thought of something easy...folding the pages into pockets. With a little adhesive tape it was a breeze. Here's what I did....First, let me apologize for the darkness of the photos! I couldn't get the Aviary editing software to process the pictures! Go figure! Hahahaha! Me and technology! Good Grief Gertrude! You will need two journal pages to make this work. On the first page, I used my ruler and a stylus. I scored from the center of the journal over to the right 1-inch. I then scored over from that score line to another 3/4-inch. Last, I scored 1/2-inch in from edge of the page. Fold on all the score lines. Now for a little tape....I used some score-tape on the backside of the mountain fold and taped the page together to form a little flap. Then I placed a small strip of tape on each inside end of the flap forming a narrow pocket. Next, I adhered the 1/2-inch edge down to the backside for a clean edge. Last, I sprayed the edge of the second page with inks. I then placed three #8 tags down to the backside of the folded page to get an idea of where I needed to place tape to form three pockets for the tags. Now, I normally wouldn't use tape for pockets as the tags will inevitable get stuck to the tape. However, the space between the tags and the tape were wide enough so I just did it. LOL! I pulled the tape backing and adhered it down to the second page and inserted my three tags and a larger #12 tag to the pockets. Here's a few pictures of the finished pages... OK, off to get crafty with some chipboard...See y'all in a bit! By The Way...Happy Saturday Everybody! Jim The Gentleman Crafter Pin It
Hello! On Wednesday I shared with you the first pages of my SMASH words book, inspired by word prompt flair from {a flair for buttons}. You can see that post here. Today, I am sharing the rest of the "loving..." pages: I went with an orange/navy/pink color palette for this page spread about Spring. Not typical Spring colors, but I still love the combination. I used a die-cut card by Dear Lizzy as the focal point on the left side. The right side features a glassine bag by SRM Stickers, as well as some SRM sticker sentiments. I added bits and pieces to the outside and placed my photos inside the bag. The next page has a very different color palette - light pink, teal and tan. I wanted this page spread to be especially girly. I used some things I'd been hoarding in my SMASH stash, such as a clothing label, vintage wallpaper, and a paint chip: On the other side I wanted some semi-private space for journaling, so I adhered a card that you can open to read. This beautiful flair is by {a flair for buttons}. I thought it was a perfect match :). I'm adding more close-ups and views of these pages to my flickr photostream here. Join me next Sunday for more pages. I haven't decided which book I'll be playing in this week, but I'm itching for some SMASHing time and will definitely have a lot to share. Thanks for stopping by! Tessa
It's a bit late, but I wanted to share the beautiful pages from the book I received from Karla Nathan's Nature's Blessings Journal Swap a few months ago. There are a quite a few pages so I'll show them in two posts. Karla made the covers which all include a copy of her original angel drawing. She used vintage wallpaper, millinery flowers and lace to make each cover special and unique. Each participant made six "signatures" with each consisting of four pages. Karla compiled them into sets of six that looked lovely together, then bound them into the cover with three blank signatures so that we can add to our books. I won't comment on each set of pages individually, but they are all beautiful as you'll see. I'll list the artist prior to each set. My first set of amazing pages is from Lorraine at Over the Rainbeau. I'm not sure who made the second lovely set of pages, as it just lists the blog name and I've not been able to access the blog. The blog is somewouldevensayitglows.blogspot.com. If the artist sees this or if anyone reading is familiar with this blog, I'd love to know. I'll try to check with Karla, too. The next wonderful pages are by Cheryl Stoneham, who I met at Silver Bella in 2010. I didn't find a blog for her. So much talent and loveliness! I'll be sharing the pages from the other three artists in my next post, so be sure to check back. If you missed the pages I made, you can see them here.
kept it kinda clean and a bit monochromatic this week but played with a few patterns across the bottom. the butterfly is my new stamp with unity. i just love the butterfly stamped partially off the page. i even dripped...

where paper meets passion

Hello friends... Welcome to a brand new week over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog and also, a brand new challenge! This ...
Hello friends, Lots of behind the scene work has kept me busy these past few weeks and blogging seems to be the first thing to be scratched...

hello and happy Saturday to you! I meant to post this before I left on vacation but there was way too much to do and so, here it is, on a Saturday. :) This months Color Challenge with Crate Paper ~ the details of the challenge are posted on the blog. I knew I wanted to make a mini for the Fall season and even though this month is all about orange I was determined to create a color combination that wasn't expected. No orange for this month! This month's colors are Peacock Green ~ Mustard Yellow and Wheat ~ I think these colors are so complimentary to Autumn photos or Fall themed projects! I created this mini album using coaster sized chipboard, Hambly transparencies, lots of Crate Paper Chipboard accent pieces and Patterned Paper. It's called Autumn Plans - think December Daily except geared towards Fall - It measures only 4x4 inches, large enough for photos & journaling and yet small enough that it's completely manageable. I think I made this entire little book in one afternoon! I filled the album with a combination of photos, to-do lists, quotes, ATC's (from last year) and I plan on adding more photos as I take them. I still have lots of baking to do with the kids, our annual Autumn hike in Sedona, some arts & crafts time and the kids' Fall festival at school. busy-busy! What are your Autumn Plans this year? This month is going by entirely too fast but I am happy to say that I have the house and yard all decorated for Halloween. I just need to pick up one bag of every possible candy available at the grocery store and I think I'm all set! I'm off to finish up some laundry and then it's on to making a candy garland! Hope you're are having a lovely weekend!
I do make an effort to try new techniques and materials ... though isn't it funny how some things simply don't FEEL right, as if they don't belong to you?? Just me then? Anyway, I have a love/hate relationship with gesso - I love what I can do with it, but hate the chalky feeling. I'm also a bit peculiar about tearing up books, even when they're complete nonsense like this one purchased at a car boot sale and entitled "children of the archbishop"!! You can see why I couldn't resist buying it .... So there I was determined to be brave so I tore up text pages and stuck then on randomly (also not like me) and gessoed over the top - a breakthrough! I disliked it intensely at this stage but was hopeful that it would improve. You can see below that it did, with the application of paint (with which I also have a cool relationship) - I watered it down quite a bit so that you could still see the text through the colours. So I had this OK(ish) sort of page that I wasn't liking all that much, and I didn't know what to write on it. I have a box of clippings from magazines, newspapers and all kinds of stuff - so I started dragging out words that spoke to me, and this is what happened .... I'd grab a word or phrase and stick it down, and then it would tell me what the next bit was, and so on, and all this stuff came out that I didn't know was in there let alone needed to get out! Oh the power of journalling! If I'd known what I was doing at the time I might not have done it all in such straight lines, but what the heck. I am a known and unreconstructed straightist - I can't help it. You may also notice that Pollyanna has been around here again (quite an annoying person at times) but you have to talk yourself into positive thinking somehow, right? Am not particularly enjoying the Olympics (I don't do sport) but its impossible not to get somewhat caught up in it all, and I was so chuffed for Andy Murray yesterday. Have got my two older grand-daughters staying (aged 7 and 5) which is a distinct challenge for a person of limited energy. Fortunately for me they are currently out at the supermarket with Grandpa "helping" him do the shopping!! They may be gone some time .....

Hello and happy Friday!! Do you ever get inspired while cleaning up the random pieces on your table? That's how this ATC Ticket Journal came about. While I was cleaning up the aftermath of previous projects I ran across a photo with red stitching alongside a ticket and piece of floral ephemera from there the layers started to flow. The ATC Ticket Journal is the perfect size for a quick project you can complete in an afternoon. I also love that the chipboard is thin enough to stitch on your sewing machine. I kept my layers simple using 3-5 pieces of ephemera. I love how the red stitching pops and adds so much detail. The Ticket Journal is the perfect size with 5 panels. Enough to tell a story but not overwhelming when it comes to decorating. Washi tape adds just the right amount of detail in the background. That pop of red sets my heart aflutter. I didn't decorate the back of the tickets yet so that I can have another reason to clean up the piles of inspiration that accumulate on my table. What's currently on your table? Happy Creating ~ Jennalee
