I found two pages where I had started the background and finished them up tonight. Love and light, friends. Make it a creative weekend.
You all remember this... ...it is getting full! I have been putting all kinds of stuff in it. It is fun, and addictive. I found the lemon picture in a magazine...I wrote, "When life gives you lemon... ADD VODKA! One night I got my vintage folder with a ton of stuff I collected a long time ago, and did a collage page. I really didn't think about it, just glued stuff down. This is a "to do" list I did for a week. I decided it needed to be in here. The "art" is just a paper I had, and liked it, so it is here now. I cut the "memories" title from a magazine, along with the exclamation mark, and smashed in the packaging from the candles I put on Jake's cake. I have two adorable Dachshund babies, so this page is for them. The picture isn't mine, I found it on the net. More magazine clippings... Here are ideas from the net, from magazines...Here for future reference. That's just some of the stuff I have been doing. I also have been putting all sorts of clippings and such for projects I want to do, decorations and furnishings I love, quotes that are funny, etc. I love to just look through it every once in a while. It has turned into a daily junque/smash/inspiration/art journal. Whatever I like goes in. Stay crafty, my friends!
Pictures of my Junque Journal ;) the original one from youtube! I am by NO MEANS a great photographer but hopefully you can get the gist of it! :D

It's a bit late, but I wanted to share the beautiful pages from the book I received from Karla Nathan's Nature's Blessings Journal Swap a few months ago. There are a quite a few pages so I'll show them in two posts. Karla made the covers which all include a copy of her original angel drawing. She used vintage wallpaper, millinery flowers and lace to make each cover special and unique. Each participant made six "signatures" with each consisting of four pages. Karla compiled them into sets of six that looked lovely together, then bound them into the cover with three blank signatures so that we can add to our books. I won't comment on each set of pages individually, but they are all beautiful as you'll see. I'll list the artist prior to each set. My first set of amazing pages is from Lorraine at Over the Rainbeau. I'm not sure who made the second lovely set of pages, as it just lists the blog name and I've not been able to access the blog. The blog is somewouldevensayitglows.blogspot.com. If the artist sees this or if anyone reading is familiar with this blog, I'd love to know. I'll try to check with Karla, too. The next wonderful pages are by Cheryl Stoneham, who I met at Silver Bella in 2010. I didn't find a blog for her. So much talent and loveliness! I'll be sharing the pages from the other three artists in my next post, so be sure to check back. If you missed the pages I made, you can see them here.
My last post showed half of the pages in my book from Karla's Nature's Blessings Journal Swap. Today I'll share the remaining pages. If you missed the last post, you can find it here. The beautiful pages below were created by Robin at onceuponapinkmoon.blogspot.com. These stunning pages were made by Lisa P. from Texas. And last but certainly not least, these gorgeous pages were created by Nora N. (no blog.) Karla created a doodle page for the swap, and sent everything along with a sweet little blessing. Hope you've enjoyed seeing all the beauty created by these talented ladies. Books seem to be what I've been doing for the last few months, and I'll have a couple of Christmas journals to show soon. Happy creating!

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator Thank you for visiting my blog, I really do appreciate. I am here with another instalment in my Junk Journal series. Today I am trying the paper napkin technique for the first time! I have watched lots of tutorials on this and decided to have a go. I may not have done it the best way but I am loving how it turned out. I bought 2 packets of paper serviettes to try out, i decided not to get the mixed selections you can buy as I wanted to have lots to practice on! I have seen some really lovely ones but to only get 4 for the price I paid for 20 was not the best option for a beginner! I am really enjoying making my first Junk Journal and so excited to be sharing it with you. I take you through the process from start to finish ...not that it is finished yet of course! It is a work in progress and I hope you will join me. I have made mistakes and I have learned from them and I have enjoyed every minute. If you missed the beginning episode 1 you can view it here :-) I will be doing this every Wednesday so do subscribe to not miss any. I have created a playlist on my YouTube channel so you can easily find all my tutorials in this series. Measurements and Materials I normally give you the measurements of my projects, but for this project this will not always be possible as it is often not precise as it involves ripping paper! The signatures in this Junk Journal are me using A4 sheets folded in half to make an A5 sized journal. I pulled apart the 3 layers of the serviette I will use all these layers don't worry about that! I applied watered down PVA to the area I wanted my serviette to stick to I placed the section i wanted on the page or tag or book page I brushed over the top with more PVA I really like the effect of the music serviette on the book page I then added the butterfly serviette on top once it was dry I stuck this directly to a page in my journal I repeated this with a half page and then adhered this to some coffee stained card stock I then used this as a belly band or pocket on a page I also used the serviettes on some tags. Now watch the video tutorial to see how this was made :-) Video Tutorial Click below to see the video tutorial :-) Time for the closeups! Video's & Channels I have watched I have watched soooo many youtube videos about Junk Journalling but these are the ones I keep going back to. They have really inspired me to finally get started. In this article we will find out How to make little Library Pockets for Junk Journals, Altered Books, Cards, etc. - Learn about the concept of FORM for art. Mixed Media at its most fun.
The July Cards, Tags and More Kit from Très Jolie came with a Tim Holtz fabric journal, an 8” x 8” pad featuring Stamperia’s Imagine collection, and a ton of trims and odds and ends, all the ingredients need to make a junk journal. I added a (very) few items from my stash and got started. Here’s what I came up with… I started by measuring and cutting the script paper to wrap around the entire outside cover. After distressing and inking the edges, I glued it on with matte gel medium. (I used this medium throughout the album.) I fussy cut this beautiful image for my front and adhered it to the front, adding a few words cut from another page. I finished with a small piece cut from one of the trims and a button of my own. And now for the inside: Quick and simple: I created a bottom layer from the patterned paper, added a piece of trim, then a cut apart and a fussy cut sentiment. It needed a little “something else”, so I added a couple of buttons to the top and bottom. Another layer of distressed and inked patterned paper forms the base; I’ve added a torn piece of music paper, a cut apart bookmark and a fussy cut sentiment backed with packaging for dimension. I cut a piece of the doily to glue to the edge of the page and sewed a button on the remaining piece before gluing it down. ************ I tore one of the book pages that was included in the kit to fit the pages and inked the edges, glued it down and topped it with a scrap of patterned paper and a bit of the music paper. I added a small bit of trim (cut from the piece that I used on the next page) and a ticket and a bit of Flair that I colored with Metallique wax.Meanwhile, I dug out my long-neglected nibs and used one to color this cute little girl’s dress and bow before sitting her down. Kim aged a lot of the miscellaneous items before packaging them, but I decided that I wanted some of them to look even older, so I brewed a gallon of tea and went to work on the tags and guest checks and a few other items. While I was at it, I dunked the enclosed white lace into a cup of coffee and let it sit for five minutes. This is a piece of that lace glued to the side before adding the guest check. I folded this over at the bottom to form a pocket that I trimmed with the rest of the piece from the previous page.I stenciled an image onto the tag, using the same Distress ink that colors all my edges. The reinforcers came off the tags when I soaked them in the tea, and I took advantage of this by inking them before reattaching them.I finished this page by placing a few small cut apart tags in the pocket. ************ One of my favorite bits of miscellany is the laundry list. (This is one of the pieces that I dunked in tea; I wrung the tea bags out over part of the paper to further darken it.)I cut it to size, making sure that the “dress” line was placed where I wanted. I treated the gold filigree frame with Metallique wax to tone it down and glued it to the page. The dress was fussy cut from the patterned paper and inked around the edges before backing it with a piece of packaging and adding it to the page. The bottom layer here is more of the music paper, topped with the top of that laundry list. I added a very thin strip of music and a fussy cut heart and sentiment. It still looked a little empty, so I created a couple of stapled “x”s in the corners. ************ This is just a few layers of paper and ephemera. The hidden word on the milk cap is “milk”, but I liked it better this way. Again, a quite simple page: a layer of patterned paper, topped with a stenciled tag and a playing card. I added a horseshoe cutout and a charm that’s been looking for a good home for the past few months. ************ I finished the first signature by layering a cut apart over a pretty piece of lace with a piece of patterned paper on the bottom and gluing a button with a jute bow on top. This must be the most beautiful image in the entire collection. I set the frame offside to ensure that the page folds over and added a few cutout sentiments to the borders. ************ Speaking of beautiful: these sewn together layers of burlap and lace are part of the trim package. I placed it down the side of the pattern paper to cover the back of the frame from the previous page and added a few hat pins. I backed the dress with a few layers of packaging and glued it down to allow it to float with the music. The bottom layer here is more of the patterned paper from the opposite page. I topped it from a tea-stained doily from my stash and an image from one of the other sheets. I added a couple of the resin pieces from the kit to the inside corners to finish it off. ************ I created this page by layering of cut apart pieces and ephemera. I used the top of the ticket sheet to edge the page. There were so many cut apart tags; too many to go into the small amount of pockets that I created, so I decided to make a waterfall by backing each with one of the tickets and adding a resin piece as a weight. ************ I covered these next two pages with the script paper that was used for the cover. I added a length of lace and then created a pocket for some of the cut aparts. This image was too pretty to hide, so I glued it to the front. The dragonfly paper is a scrap of leftover wrapping tissue, double layered to let more of the critters show. I’ve attached a few layers of scraps and a fussy cut feather that just didn’t seem to want to go anywhere else. ************ The last of my pockets is attached to a guest check and contains two more of the stenciled tags. I had this last page in mind right from the beginning, from the book page base to the stenciled circle (a piece of stained coffee filter) and ending with the top of a Bingo card. This little cowgirl is smiling because she has a friend standing next to her and now, I need to explain “why” I had this page in mind. I’ve received Bingo cards in kits before and they just accumulate in a pile because I don’t know what to do with them for some reason. This time, I had an “aha” moment for some reason. The “B-I-N-G-O” song started running through my mind and well, “Bingo”! I took out my package of Tim Holtz paper dolls and found the biggest dog in the bunch. Let me flip over that circle and introduce you to Bingo the Dog… *************************************************** *****Supplies***** ***Très Jolie July Card, Tags and More Kit*** Idea-ology – Tim Holtz – Fabric Journal #TH-94029 Stamperia – Imagine – 8 x 8 Paper Pad #SBBS07 Idea-ology – Tim Holtz – Baseboards – Frames #TH93710 Idea-ology – Tim Holtz – Ticket Book #TH94036 Idea-ology – Tim Holtz – Milk Caps #TH93684 Idea-ology – Tim Holtz – Assorted Ephemera Creative Embellishments – Flair – Music Bar Melissa Frances – Resin Embellishments – Garnish #CX705 Très Jolie – Music Sheets – 8.5” x 8.5” Très Jolie – Gothic Frame Très Jolie – Vintage Lace Très Jolie – Lace Trim – 2” – White Très Jolie – Bingo Card Très Jolie – Vintage Playing Cards Très Jolie – Manila Shipping Tags – Unstrung – 4-3/4” x 2-3/8” Très Jolie – Guest Checks Très Jolie – Book Pages Très Jolie – Coffee Stained Ephemera – Assorted ***Other*** May Arts – Jute Burlap String – Natural #SM-10 Advantus – Tim Holtz – Idea-ology Collection – Paper Dolls #TH93555 Buttons Doily Birdcage Charm Hat Pins ***Mediums*** Ranger Ink – Tim Holtz – Distress Ink Pad – Mini – Brushed Corduroy #39884 Ranger Ink – Tim Holtz – Distress Ink Pad – Mini – Fired Brick #39976 Prima – Finnabair – Art Alchemy – Metallique Wax – Aged Brass #963965 Prima – Finnabair – Art Alchemy – Metallique Wax – Bronze Age #964023 Matte Gel Medium ***Tools*** The Crafter’s Workshop – 6 x 6 Doodling Template – Mini Specimens #TCW454s The Crafter’s Workshop – 6 x 6 Doodling Template – Mini Screen Print #TCW525s The Crafter’s Workshop – 6 x 6 Doodling Template – Mini Butterfly Collage #TCW554s Ranger Ink – Tim Holtz – Mini Ink Blending Tool – Round #RIIBT40965 Tim Holtz – Idea-ology – Tiny Attacher #TH92800 Ranger – Inkssentials – Craft Nibs #CND14737 *************************************************** As always, I want to thank you for peeking into my blog; your visits mean a lot to me.
