Crafting with Kay - the Carley Way
Innovative creativity from PaperArtsy. Paint, stencils, and techniques galore for any mixed media enthusiast to enjoy.
Today I thought I'd share with you the card we will be making at my next class at The Craft Barn (Sunday 24th April 2016) using my new EKC01 stamp sheet for PaperArtsy along with a mixture of PaperArtsy's brand new Infusion range (consisting of a powdered watercolour stain along with Walnut Crystals) and Fresco Finish paints. There are just a couple of spaces left if anyone fancies it? Click here for details on how to book.
A couple of weeks ago I took my first class at The Craft Barn in over two years!! As most of you know I had to take a break from teaching due to my 'naughty back'!! However I am now back and I am teaching again but only in a limited capacity. My thanks to everyone who came on the class a couple of weeks ago - I hope you enjoyed it!! You were certainly a lovely and lively bunch!! This is the card that we made which had a lot of techniques to it but I think that they all mastered 'the challenge' admirably!! I have just updated my 'classes/demos' page as I have two more classes coming up at The Craft Barn - one in a couple of weeks time and another in October and that will be all for the rest of this year. So if anyone fancies joining me please visit my 'classes/demo' page where you will find out more about them :)

Every month I like to make a special card to give to my downline who rank in my Top Ten for Sales. In May, I chose to use the stamp set called Crafting Forever and I picked a new Designer Series Paper to work with called Follow Your Art. Oh my, what fun!! When you watch the Facebook Live Rebroadcast below you will notice that I used a different pattern for that card because I'd already used up all the sheets I had featuring the one I picked for my Top Ten Cards. All the paper in this paper pack

Eclectica³ Collection {Kay Carley} May 2020 New Product Announcement A note from Leandra: Kay's amazing houses first presented to you earlier in the year have proved such a hit that we just had to get her to make some more for you. We love how the step-by-step stencils guide you to add colour with precision and the resultant detailing is superb! Hi everyone, Kay here I'm super excited to share with you my newest release for PaperArtsy consisting of 3 stamps 4 layering stencils and 2 ordinary stencils. This release continues with some more flower/fairy houses along with a magical tree house! Because they have been drawn in the same style as my previous 'house' release you can now have a whole village! I really like to use these new sets to build up entire scenes. But if you prefer clean and simple you can achieve this too. With the imagery contained on each of the stamp sets it is really easy to achieve a 'layered scene' especially when utilising stencilled imagery. My 'accessory stamp set' EKC37 (from my last release) works perfectly with with these new sets too :). If you want to buy these stamps, they are available EXCLUSIVELY from PaperArtsy approved stockists for the next 6 months. PaperArtsy will not compete with retailers, so if you want to get your hands on any of these products, you will need to source them from a stockist - check out the list at the bottom of this post! Let's check out these new stamps, some ideas from each set, a stepped out project and some sneak peeks of my future online workshops. New Stamps Price: RRP £18.74 +VAT Size:5" x 6" (13 x16.5cm) All stamps are individually trimmed onto cling foam, presented in a clear hanging bag with a laminated storage/index sheet. Eclectica³ Kay Carley Set 38 (EKC38) When I was designing this particular house I really wanted to call it 'Bluebell Cottage' but in the end I didn't as I thought it would limit the colour palette that you could use with it although I still went ahead and painted it in 'bluebell colours' for this sample! This house was drawn in the same style as my daisy roofed house from EKC35 so they will make great 'companions'! Eclectica³ Kay Carley Set 39 (EKC39) This stamp set is dedicated to my Dad as he always used to say that he could live in a shed in the middle of a wood! I'm not too sure if he would have shared it with the fairies, pixies and elves though! With regards to the 'tree house stamp' I thought long and hard about whether to put in windows! As you can see the 'windows' won out in the end as you can always blot them out when using opaque paint! Eclectica³ Kay Carley Set 40 (EKC40) I haven't done it as yet but I am just dying to decoupage all the different parts of this house especially the flowers on the roof! As you can see for the accessory stamps on this set I chose to go with small and large flowers that were the same shape as each other as well as two different sizes of grass so that depth can be achieved very easily to a scene. The only trouble is that I keep wanting to use the grass with the other sets too! New Stencils Regular Size: 6.5" x 7" (16 x 18cm) Price: RRP £4.60 + VAT Large Size: 6.25" x 9.5" (16 x 24cm) Price: RRP £5.40 +VAT PaperArtsy Stencil 192 (PS192) This stencil has been designed to allow you to easily add paint to colour your image. As you can see each step of the stencil masks off other areas of the image. Full instructions are contained within each of these 'layered stencil' concepts. Like my 'layered stencils' from my last release they perfectly match their stamped counterparts and are best used within a stamping platform if you want to be able to re-stamp all the detail back in afterwards. PaperArtsy Stencil 193 (PS193) When I am using the 'layered stencils' I tend to use small stencil brushes to apply the paint (as you can see from the photos). To add interest I also normally add more than one colour of paint to each area. In the photo immediately above I had used French Roast and then lightly stippled Snowflake here and there on top to add highlights. Instead of applying paint to the roof you could also opt for Grunge Paste to give dimension ;). PaperArtsy Stencil 194 (PS194) When applying my paint through the different steps of the 'layered stencils' I only pick up a small amount of paint at a time and tap/work it into my brush before applying the brush to the stencil. This allows me to gradually build up the intensity of colour and gives greater control. Depending on the look I want I either stipple with the brush or lightly swipe. PaperArtsy Stencil 195 (PS195) This stencil is really versatile as it can be used just as a 'stand alone' stencil if you so desire and would look great combined with Grunge Paste to add dimension and texture. So far I have only used it to create subtle background imagery for scenes but as it is quite large it can be used for foreground imagery too to give depth to a scene. PaperArtsy Stencil 196 (PS196) The last of my 'layered stencils' for this release - this is the simplest of the layered stencils as it only contains 4 steps or if you choose not to have the windows it only contains 2 steps! PaperArtsy Stencil title (PS197) This stencil can either be a tall grass stencil or a flower stencil depending on what colours you choose to stencil it with. As you can see from the first photo above I use the smaller 'grass clumps' repeatedly to create larger more realistic clumps of grass or flowers. Very easy to do but quite effective. Project One: In the Country I wanted to make a dimensional card that I could have given to my Dad being that he was a 'country boy'. EKC39 works seamlessly with my PS170 tree stencil from my last release. As you can see below, the stencilled trees are the same style as the 'Tree House' contained on EKC39. (The grassy clumps are from EKC37 - also from my last release.) I have now added more stamping. Below I only used the top part of the tall sprig stamp in order to 'sink' it into the ground and painted pink berries/flowers onto each of them before stamping and colouring my main imagery. Do you recognise the larger trees? The windows have now disappeared making this stamp really versatile :) Next I added more interest into the ground area with more stamping plus I've created light and shade into the grass area. You can see what a difference this makes from the previous image. Lastly I added some foreground imagery with the grass/flower stencil, added blue and pink colour into the sky before assembling it into a dimensional card. Proposed Workshops Below are little peeks of some future (online) workshop projects that I have been working on for this release. All of these projects will contain techniques in how to create a layered scene using a mix of stamps and stencils and how to use the matching layered stencils. Each of these proposed workshops contains it's own unique element! Fairy Bell Cottage includes decoupaging, The Wood Cabin concentrates on creating a woodland scene and how to change the look of certain stamps to give more variety and with Wisty Hollow you learn how to create dimensional looking flowers using Grunge Paste for some flowers and paint for others. (If any PA stockist would be interested in hosting any of these workshops please do get in contact with me - I'd love to hear from you!) Fairy Bell Cottage The Wood Cabin Wisty Hollow I hope that this has given you a few ideas and has sparked your own imagination as to how you might combine and use products from this new release. As always I ran out of time for all the things I wanted to create with them but hope to bring you some more ideas soon either through more online workshops or via my social media. Kay xxx Socials... Welcome to Club Scrap's monthly blog hop featuring the beautiful Trees Collection! If you are following the hop, your last stop was Hetty's Craft Chaos. If you'd like to start at the beginning, go to Club Scrap Creates. My 8x10" wall hanging features the 8.5x11" prints from the Trees Club Stamp Paper Collection. Click HERE to see how this simple paper quilting technique is achieved, step by step. I began this wall hanging by placing the folded 2" circle punched squares onto my trimmed 8x10" print. After embellishing, I used a grid ruler to keep things lined up during the assembly process. If you pop over to the Club Scrap Creates Blog entry, you'll see this technique also works well for embellishing cards and scrapbook pages. Next on the hop is Cathy at the Artful Gamut. She always has something fun to share. Thank you for hopping by! Kay

Eclectica³ Kay Carley Following on perfectly from her successful releases at the start of the year, Kay brings us more glorious flowers, and I can see the new stencil is going to become an oft-used staple in my stash! Let's take a look! EKC08 (Eclectica³ Kay Carley: Set 08} PS061 (PaperArtsy Stencil 061) Over the next 3 nights we have Kay Carley and 2 of our talented bloggers presenting these fabulous new products to you in totally different ways. All these new products are available from your PaperArtsy stockists now. See the list at the foot of this post. ~ Leandra Hi everyone, Kay here to show you my newest stamps designed for PaperArtsy. I am sooooooooo excited to be releasing another stamp set and stencil. This time my focus for the stamp set was foxgloves and bees combined with a leaf stencil. With this stamp set I purposely designed a couple of delicate flowers which I felt would provide a good contrast to the bigger flowers on this sheet. You'll notice on my samples below that the delicate flowers can be stamped multiple times to make taller versions, multi-headed versions etc... I also incorporated some twirly tendrils again - a left one and a right one, in two different sizes - these can be added to any of the flower stems or they can double up as 'bee trails'! Talking of the 'bees' I have given you three different sizes to help with 'creating the illusion of depth' as well as having them flying in different directions! As for my leaf stencil.................you have got four different sizes of 'sprigs'!!! When using them with paints, ink pads etc... think about joining the sprigs up. (Just like I'm always saying to do with the flowers.) They have all been designed with a 'slight curve' so that when you flip the stencil you can have them leaning either to the left or to the right. The large sprig would also make a great tree or tree branch!! I know that I will be using this particular stencil a lot - not just with this particular stamp set but with all my others too!! Tonight I wanted to give you a sense of what I might get up to with these stamps, but over the next 2 nights, you'll get plenty more inspiration from 2 other fantastic bloggers in their preferred style. Pretty in Pink using EKC07, EKC08 and PS061 by Kay Carley With this stamp set I chose to add a few different sizes of bees but in 'my world' they have to be 'friendly bees' so you'll notice that mine do not have 'stings'! I often add elements to a sheet that I feel can be stamped multiple times to create multi-headed flowers etc.. The blue spikey flowers here were stamped three times to create that taller, multi headed version. I was lucky when I stamped mine as I got all the stems to join together perfectly but if you 'miss' just use a black multi-liner to fill in any gaps and no-one will be any the wiser! The soft foliage along the base of my panel was achieved using my brand new stencil (PS061). I am thinking that these leaves would look fabulous used with Grunge Paste which I can't wait to try out!! The 'twirly tendrils' allow you to change the look of the flowers - these can be added to any of the flower stems or you could make a border with them. (The tall white flowers in the background are from EKC07.) This whole panel was created to give the impression of a lovely summer's day. 'Dusk' using EKC06, EKC07,EKC08, PS059 and PS061 by Kay Carley For my second project I wanted to show how well my February release of stamps (in particular EKC06 and EKC07) and my PS059 stencil work seamlessly with my new stamp set and stencil. I feel this is because I drew all these sets at the same time so I had it firmly fixed in my brain how I wanted all these stamps and stencils to work together. You can see how I really like to build up 'layers' of stamping and stencilling which was why it was important for me to have stamps and stencils that would all complement each other. My EKC07 stamp set (from my February release) was purposely designed with imagery that I felt could be used time and time again to support all my other stamp sets. For the first time I actually stamped and embossed my background flowers (from EKC07) - I wasn't too sure how it would turn out and if I would be able to successfully stamp on top of them - it turns out I could!! Another 'first' for me was painting a whole A4 sheet of cardstock!! I thought it then gave lots of possibilities!! The image above was taken before I added words and 3D elements and to be honest I very nearly stopped at this point as I really liked it how it looked at this stage! I even thought about cutting it up and making it into a triptych as that would have worked well or I could have cut it in half and made two cards/pictures out of it. (See......lots of possibilities!!!) Having different sizes of the same image, I personally feel, makes the whole composition come alive........... what do you think??? You might also have noticed how I stamped multi-headed flowers again and angled some of the smaller flowers so that they weren't all upright - this gives a more relaxed appearance to those flowers which I think makes the whole composition look more natural. Now all I need to do is find a deep box frame to put my picture in!! I really hope that this has given you an insight as to what I was thinking when I was designing this release and I would honestly love to hear your thoughts. Do you think it is a good idea having smaller and larger imagery contained within a stamp set or would you prefer to have different imagery altogether??? I am now super excited to see what treats we have coming up over the next two nights using EKC08 and PS061 from two of our super duper bloggers!!.............. Love Kay xx Blog: http://kaycarley.blogspot.co.uk Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kaycarley.designer/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/carleycards Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kay.carley/ Pinterest: https://uk.pinterest.com/kaycwilson1/ You can find me teaching at the following venues over the next few months: Lingfield Community Centre for The Craft Barn - 25th June 2017 and 27th August 2017 Oh my goodness!! It's really is a joy to see more from Kay. Her attention to detail is always such a joy, and I really think the combination of stamps released this year offer so many creative options and layers. Lots to explore! Congratulations Kay! ~ Leandra New Products will not be available to purchase from PaperArtsy until late 2017. This means the only place you can purchase is from an official PaperArtsy approved stockist. Crafting with Kay - the Carley Way
Welcome to my "little" stop on the Club Scrap Constellations Blog Hop. Miniature books made using Club Scrap Constellations papers and stamps. Miniature handmade books displayed in a matchbox. I seem to be a "little" obsessed with miniature handmade books this month! It's like I'm "seein' stars" when I think of these mini book projects. The small scale galaxy print on the Constellations 8.5x11" White Text Weight Print (CST) was ideal for wrapping the covers. The smaller images on the Constellations Unmounted Stamps worked well for decorating for the front covers and inside pages. Each mini book has its own special features. It all started when I made this mini pamphlet stitch book to fit inside the 2-1/2 x 1-1/2" matchbox I had in my stash. (If you're interested in assembly instructions, check out the link for details.) I don't want to bore you with duplicate info, so I'm going to let the pictures do the talking. I guess it just wasn't in the stars for me to create only one mini book. For book #2, I created the world's smallest spiral bound notebook complete with a tiny library card holder attached to the inside cover. Spiral binding created with needle, waxed linen thread, and wooden dowel. Last, but not least...how cute is this tiny book with a nook built inside? I even got to incorporate the Constellations theme with a tiny bottle of glitter "star dust" inside! Below, a few visuals of the mini nook book construction. Wrapped outside book cover. Nook made with matte board cut to fit inside. Wrapped book nook piece is glued to the inside back cover. I think the Nook Book may be my favorite! It looks like I have a good start on a mini matchbox library. It will be fun to make more mini books with other Club Stamp Prints to add to my collection. Talk about "light" reading!!! Ha! Next on the hop is the lovely and talented Shona at Shona Scraps. Be sure to check out what she is up to with the Constellations Kit. Thanks for looking.
2016 Topic 8: White Space Hi everyone Anneke here. I'm happy to be back here tonight with a blogpost about stenciling and stamping on a white background. When creating cards, art journal pages, book covers...I usually start by painting/collaging a background before adding stencil work and stamped images. For this project I grabbed my stencils and paint and decided to work on a white base instead of a colored one. I love this technique and the effect it creates. The white background makes the bright colors even brighter. I've created a notebook, let me walk you through the steps. Front cover Back cover I bought a cheap exercise book and removed the cover by taking out the staples. I folded a new cover from white 300grs paper. I used the inside papers as a ready made signature for my new notebook. I started by decorating the cover. I sponged Mermaid paint through a flower stencil (Stencil Girl Products S296 Bautista). Then I stamped circles using a glass (2 different sizes/diameters) and Caribbean Sea paint. I added green circle squares using a stencil (TCW: Mini Circle Squares) and lime paint (Dina Wakley Media: lime). I continued by adding text with a ledger stencil (TCW Mini Ledger) using Archival Ink Watering Can. The plusses were made with Zesty Zing and the Tim Holtz Layering Stencil Plus. Time to add some pink accents. I created circles with Candy Floss paint and the Mini Cut Circles stencil by TCW. The tiny dots were made with the PaperArtsy Clare Lloyd PSO23 stencil using Sherbet paint. I colored the flowers using a flat brush and Zesty Zing, Candy Floss, Limelight, Caribbean Sea and Snowflake paint. I made circular motions with my brush, started with Caribbean Sea at the outside and worked towards the centre. I blended the colors using Snowflake paint. I stamped the flowers from the PaperArtsy EKC02 set on top of the painted circles with Archival Ink Jet Black. EKC02 I created leaves by using the PaperArtsy Clare Lloyd PSO23 stencil. Did some random black stamping with a small flower from the PaperArtsy EKC02 set. I added highlights to the pink circles and the flower centres with a white Sharpie. I glued green handmade paper to the inside of the covers. Instead of adding new staples I used some cord to attach the signature to the covers. An easy way to transform a simple exercise book into an eye-catching notebook. Working on a white background is not as forgiving as working on a colored one. When I make mistakes with my stencils on a painted background I use a baby wipe or I just add a fresh layer of paint and I can restart the stenciling. Here I had to work more carefully and precisely. I cleaned my stencils with a paper towel before replacing them and I had some scraps of paper on hand to mask off where ever necessary. Despite all my efforts I ended up with a few spots of paint were I didn't wanted it. So I took the circle stencil and added an extra pink circle on top of the unwanted spots. Problem solved :) I hope you'll try this technique, I would love to see what you come up with! Have fun! Anneke Blog: http://somefiddlingonthekitchentable.blogspot.be Beautiful, zesty, zingy colours that pop right out. That large flower stencil is so very effective wrapped around the spine, and is a great supporting piece for the smaller elements. Brilliant use of the White Space as it leads the eye around the whole cover. ~Darcy We would love to see how you interpret this White Space topic by linking what you make to our 2016 Challenge #8: White Space, on this page HERE. All of our bloggers love to see your twist on their ideas, particularly if you were inspired directly by their post. All links go in the draw to win a £50 voucher to spend on products of your choice from the PaperArtsy online store. The White Space link will close 17:00 (London Time) Sunday, May 1st 2016. The winner will be announced 2 hours later at 19:00.
Season's Greetings! Hoping this busy time before the holidays is going well for you. I've managed to get a few more ornaments made for the tree that I'd like to share if you actually have the time to look. Every year, I make an ornament using a pic from the prior Christmas. Using the current year's picture would be just to proactive for me, I'm just glad to get something on the tree from every year, up to last year that is :) The "mini album inside the tin" is the photo ornament I made this year. Last year after Christmas I found a handful of these mini lunch box tins at Home Depot in the after holiday clearance bin. Well of course I thought they were cute and that I could make little albums for the insides. Using waxed linen thread, I kettle stitched this mini album together that easily fits inside the tin. Of course after I rubber stamped the inside pages with my collection of holiday themed stamps from Club Scrap. The mini album is filled with little pictures from last Christmas (Walgreens collage prints work well for this purpose, putting several little pics on the same 4x6, cheap and easy). The mini cookie cutters tied to the handle is the perfect finishing touch. The tin will keep this mini album in great condition over the years, I'm hoping my family enjoys looking through it each year we get out the Christmas decorations. This blog is turning into a long one - hope you don't mind more and more pics! Moving on to the matchbox ornament, I think it's so darn cute. I had the premade matchboxes from when Club Scrap sold them in GHM with the Fossils kit (but that was a long time ago), for now one could certainly make their own or find them in the craft stores I would think. As you can see my first step was wrapping with old dictionary papers. It's so cute just like this, covered with old book pages, but thought I should add an acrylic paint wash. Blue for the sky and white for the snow. Then I folded and cut up some of my little paper scraps (no large sheets of uncut paper were injured in this project) to make tiny houses. I used the "Peace On Earth" stamp from Club Scrap's 2012 WOW Holiday stamp sheet for the little banner above the houses, attached with foam squares to add dimension. Of course, glitter glue was a "must have". Then adding a ribbon on the top of the outside sleeve works for a hanger. I would love to make more of these cutties, but need to get a little Christmas shopping done first LOL. Now, this "Christmas wish in a bottle" only takes a couple minutes. Just roll up the stamped or handwritten Christmas wish... ...put it inside the bottle. I used waxed linen thread for creating the hanger. Easy one :) Oh, and one other little tidbit. At Club Scrap we just put this 12x19 Ivory Text weight paper online (in my opinion, one can never have enough ivory text weight paper for projects) heheee. One side is printed with the Club Scrap logo, but the other side is great for stamping on and creating your very own altered wrapping paper. I had a little fun with it here wrapping a gift. The possibilities are endless with this ivory text weight paper, and you can get 5 sheets for only a buck, enjoy! Thanks for stopping to look during the busy time of year! Hoping you find a little time for crafting this holiday pre-season.
Welcome to my stop on Club Scrap's Picnic Blog Hop. I used the Club Stamp Picnic Text Print to wrap this storage box. It's a hinged lid box that holds 5x7" cards and mini albums. Club Stamp Text Print Paper Wrap The lid lifts and allows the front wall to drop down. The first step was cutting the book board pieces using a grid ruler and utility knife, then gluing them together to form the box and lid. Once the lid and body of the box were assembled, it was time to wrap the lid, body, and side door. Play some "wrap" music for this. Paper also served as the hinges for the door and lid. If you took my Clock Tower Workshop at the 2013 Retreat, you know all about this. This box provides lovely storage for my set of Picnic Greetings To Go cards. Next on the hop is the talented Cathy at The Artful Gamut. Thank you for stopping by. Kay at Club Scrap
2017 Topic 8: Assemblage Kay brings a fantastic 3D element to her stamps with this idea, which must not only involve a fair bit of fiddly cutting, but a heck of a lot of patience! The results are certainly worth it, so if you've got some tiny scissors about, here's the challenge to get snipping! Hi everyone Kay here. Lovely to be here on the PA blog tonight. I've chosen to share with you a 3D picture of buddleia type flowers made using my EKC05 stamp set and co-ordinating PS058 stencil. On EKC05 there are two tiny flowers which were included to be used either to add to the background of your piece or to add to the two large flower heads to create a 3D flower which creates such beautiful dimension. (I also designed my EKC02 stamp sheet in the same way with two tiny flowers that can be stamped out multiple times, cut out and added to the larger flowers.) I won't lie...........it really is quite time consuming cutting out lots of the tiny flowers but it honestly is worth it as it gives the flowers a more rounded appearance plus if you do your cutting out whilst watching some telly it's not too bad! I always try to add 'layers' of colour, stamps etc... and I very rarely begin my 'creative journey' with just one solid colour instead I like to add interest to my background from the start by choosing a few different colours and applying them with a sponge as I like the 'random look'. Of course my paints of choice are the lovely Fresco Finish paints! Nowadays I like to 'map out' where I think my main imagery will sit on my panel before adding my background imagery as so often I have stamped/stencilled some background imagery and then ended up covering most of it up with my main imagery! Annoying!!! Now that I know where my main flower heads will sit I can begin building up my background imagery around them. Here I used Snowflake and Caribbean Sea Fresco Finish and my brand new stencil.......oooohhhhhh!!!! (I like to add touches of white into my project to bring some 'lightness' into the finished piece but if you prefer 'drama' go with a darker colour instead.) The wavy stem on this leaf stamp is just perfect to create 'flowing background imagery. I think that Snowflake is my 'must have' paint as I use this on practically every project! This is always the 'slightly scary' bit as black stamped imagery always looks a bit harsh against a pretty pastel background. You just have to keep your fingers crossed (and maybe toes as well - just to be on the safe side) that it will all look ok in the end!!! Sleight Blue Infusions were very lightly sprinkled and spritzed as a base to begin my multi-coloured flowers but there are 23 other colours to chose from :). I like to give these type of flower heads texture by using a few different colours of Fresco Finish paint (Blue Oyster, Zesty Zing, Dolly Mix, Eggplant) applied with a small paintbrush in a dabbing motion and then I've found an embossing tool is a great way to apply perfect dots to flower centres etc... Recently I've been combining dye-based/watercolour based ink with Fresco Finish paint as this enables me to add soft translucent colour over the top of the chalk based paint which I really like the effect of. I nearly always take some time to apply 'finishing touches' to my project. In this instance these 'touches' consisted of using a circle die to add 'a hole', gluing all my cut out flowers and butterfly into position with Pinflair, stencilling the words with Snowflake paint and writing over the top with a black multi-liner, applying white dot accents with a gel pen, adding some rhinestones, matting and layering the panel to black and grey cardstock and of course applying touches of glitter glue! (Phew......just a few finishing touches then!!!!) For me it is all these 'little touches' that make a difference to the overall look of the finished piece. See what I mean about how those tiny little flowers make such a difference to the flower heads ;). I really enjoy creating projects like this with lots of 'layers' and 3D elements. I was working on a 7x7" Smoothy cardstock panel for my picture but the beauty of this stamp set is that you could make a much larger picture if you wanted which I think would look spectacular especially if you had lots of the large flower heads embellished with 'loads' of tiny flowers - it may take you a while though! Also a tall slim panel of these flowers arranged in a vase or jam jar would look good :). I really want to create a set of table mats using this stamp set when I have a minute along with some matching coasters using elements from EKC07 - I just need to find some time! I really hope that some of you will be 'brave enough' to try adding the little flowers to create dimensional flowers in this way and if you are please let me know as I would love to see your creations :). Love Kay :) x Blog: http://kaycarley.blogspot.co.uk Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kaycarley.designer/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/carleycards Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kay.carley/ Pinterest: https://uk.pinterest.com/kaycwilson1/ What a beautiful idea Kay! I'm so glad you shared how to use the stencil to create the great layers, and the infusions add a pop of contrast too. So many gorgeous little dots of paint really seem to bring it all to life and those 3D flowers really are an assemblage of love! But what a stunning effect! Worth it for sure! ~Leandra We always hope that you learn something interesting from our blog.
