Heidiandfinn's newest release The Veritas Cape is now available in the shop. Available in sizes 12m thru to 14y, this will easily become a 3 season staple for you and your kiddos. For boys and girls, with endless options to make this your own, you will have lots of fun making this one What better way to use up the scraps than making a matching Veritas cape for your doll!?! You don't need much fabric (about 1/3 yard depending on the width and print) and a coupe of buttons, to make this adorable 18" doll cape (perfect for small baby dolls and stuffed animals too ;) ) Make sure to use fabric with stretch though as there is no back opening and it must stretch over the doll head. Sweatshirt fleece, french terry, interlock and fleece all work great. Lets get started - Grab your fabric along with the printed pattern - you can download the pattern here Assemble the pages as shown below and cut out your pieces You only need to cut out the hood OR the cowl depending on the style you want Mark the center of all the body pieces (top front , bottom front, top back and bottom back) Start by laying the Front top and bottom open with right sides up, flip the top onto the bottom so right sides are facing each other and line up the center pins. pin the together along the rounded edge, sew/serge together along the rounded edge Open up and press the seam well so the seam allowance is pointed towards the top neckline. Topstitch (optional) along the top edge of the seam REPEAT this process with the back top and back bottom Take your front and back pieces and lay down on top of each other with right sides facing each other and top shoulder edges lined up. Sew/serge together along the top shoulder edges Open up the cape and you can serge or zigzag the entire outer edge of the cape - This is optional as this edge will be somewhat visible. Fold under the entire edge towards the wrong side about 1/4" - Press well Sew the folded edge down, set aside to make the cowl or hood Take your cowl/hood and lay the lining and main on top of each other, lining up all the edges. Sew along the top edge of the cowl or the inner rounded edge of the hood Open up the cowl/hood, fold together so the seams match up, pin together if needed along the lining and main cowl/hood. Sew together from one end of the main all the way to the opposite end of the lining. Turn right side out and mark the center front, center back and side centers with pins Mark the center front and center back of your neckline with pins. Matching the pins mark the center sides of the neckline (these pins will not line up with the shoulder seams, but should be about 1" in towards the front neckline) With the cape body wrong side out and the cowl/hood right side out, take your cowl/hood and slip it into the cape so the raw edge lines up the raw neckline. MAKE SURE the front side of both the body and cowl/hood are facing up so that you are pinning correctly. Pin the cowl/hood to the neckline and sew/serge together - MAKE SURE to sew with a stretch stitch if you are using a sewing machine Fold in half along the shoulder seams and create the sleeves by sewing on a small button through both layers on each side just above the curved seam That's it! Now your doll is ready for Fall Don't forget to grab your full copy of the veritas cape for your little one :) Adult sizing coming soon too :) Follow us on facebook to keep up to date on new releases and tester info www.facebook.com/Heidiandfinn ~Christine

It's a beautiful day here in Chicago. The cardinals are singing their little hearts out and that makes my heart happy too! In the spirit of just having a little fun, I thought I would do something a little over the top and call this post, Fashion Overdone. Actually, when fashion, art, creativity in general is pushed, it can inspire the most wonderful ideas. So yes, most of us would never wear many of these things just as they are, but I hope you'll have fun taking a look and maybe they will spur a idea of your own. Although this is way too much for my taste, I would love to be able to see this jacket in person. Are the bows tacked on, or are they a part of the design lines? Big buttons and a big band. Rather fun! I see you!!! And from every angle :) Interesting cuff design Love the collar on this coat. Geometric shapes on a sheer ground. Interesting. The hobo look. Great cuffs and I'm intrigued with the wrap. It looks as though it is a coat wrapped around the waist, but look at the huge pockets. Is it a bow, or is it a collar? Who cares, it's pretty! Love the high low jacket. A different take on trim. Lots of layers, but pretty. Look closely at the pants. They have a huge pleat that will give them the look of a skirt. I love a billowy sleeve. A little more gingham. Not as pretty as some of the other pieces I've found, but I do like the mix of the sizes and the addition of the red. Yes, I know this looks like an afghan, but to me it somehow works Mixing prints and stripes. I have to give this a try. It's just a piece of fabric draped around the body. The trick is figuring out how to do the drape so that it works! For all you biker jacket loving chicks out there. Fabulous trim. I saw this scarf and I immediately thought of ripping some wool strips and zigzagging them together. Might be fun. A little graffiti like, but fun And finally, a little too sheer, but wouldn't this be fun to wear to a musical event! So that's that my little dog and pony show for today! Wishing you all a lovely week and I hope you find something to make your heart happy as well! Rhonda

Elegant, inspired by Belle Époque and Gilded Age, 19" wide brimmed hat. For my first sample, I used a vintage straw Nina Ricci hat, trimmed with false 11" wide crown, covered in Golden silk taffeta, draped over with Burned Orange and Cream tulle and adorned with silk flower garland. Showstopper! Amazingly light, easy to wear. Constructed with respect for millinery tradition and with contemporary wearer in mind. Great for Mr. Selfridge, Downton Abbey or even Gatsby-inspired theme parties, as well as for any serious theater production. Because the first sample is SOLD, please go for the Custom Made. You custom order will be made either as a straw hat similar to the shown sample, or as a buckram wired hat structure, covered in the fabric of your choice. Any size of course. Buckram false crown is draped in silk taffeta, and trimmed with different color tulle pieces. Ostrich feathers, shown in some pictures, can be added upon request: $5-15 each, depending on the size of the feathers. Some pictures show the Lavender version, made for a very special customer this summer. The Belle Epoque mini collection of new and refurbished vintage hats was created for "Maurice Ravel and Belle Époque" event, held in National Opera Society in December 2017. Feel free to visit IDHatShop page on Pinterest and Facebook to see more pictures and the sources of my inspiration, vintage photos and hats from Met museum collection among them. Second order discount, more pictures/videos are available upon request. This shop is not my first project. IDHatShop on Etsy had made more than 400 customers happy since 2010. Last Summer, when my designs from the 90s became a major part of Ukrainian Fashion Retrospective in Kiev, success of that exhibition inspired me to venture into this new colorful direction, quite unexpected for those who knew me for my sharp cut-and-sew headwear.
