120 Pages. (PDF - EBook - Digital Download) This is the fabulous and very obscure companion volume to Butterick's "Art of Modern Lace Making". An amazing collection of Victorian laces worked in every conceivable method. Not only are these laces creative and functional - they are also stunning works of art! Although there are lacemaking instructions in the appendix of this book, the focus is mainly as a pictorial dissection of a multitude of lace styles and designs. The styles are many - there is Flemish Lace, Venetian Point Lace, Battenberg Lace, Honiton Lace, Church Laces, plus much more. The projects are often shown in use in items such as lovely fans, handkerchiefs, bridal appliques, monograms and lovely edgings. There are over 300 illustrations of stunning lace samples, and over 100 additional illustrations of the stitches used to make them. A fabulous book!

Airy and light Linum is a modern triangle shawl that begins from the bottom tip. You knit your way up, alternating garter stitch stripes with mesh lace blocks that change direction. Linum is a beautiful one skein wonder that’s written for fingering weight yarn. But it’s also easy to modify to fit your needs. You can use lighter or heavier yarns. Or make yours larger, if you have more yarn. Simply pick your favourite yarn and cast on! YARN One skein of WalkCollection Linea (50% alpaca, 25% silk, 25% linen; 400 m / 437 yds per 100 g). Shown in colour Jade. Or approximately 344 m / 376 yds of similar fingering weight yarn. You can knit this shawl in any yarn weight and yarn amount. Simply work the pattern repeat until you reach your desired size. NEEDLES Size 4 mm / US 6 needles or size that gives you pattern gauge This shawl is worked flat, but I recommend using 80-100 cm / 32-40 inch circular needles to accommodate the growing number of stitches. As of April 2015 this pattern now includes instructions for a traditional triangular version in a separate pdf As of January 2018 now available in Deutsch. This top-down crescent shaped shawl is a celebration of my favourite Estonian stitches. The stitch motifs include nupps, lace flowers, gathered stitches and arguably the prettiest motif of them all - the lily of the valley. The combination of motifs results in the emergence of unexpected shapes - archways and minarets - and ends with a dramatic nupp encrusted lace edging. Knitting this shawl is pure Estonian lace knitting joy, but in a modern crescent shape. Pattern includes full instructions, including instructions on how to work the lace charts. Required Skills Increases: 1 to 7 nupp, 7 from 3 star stitch. yarn overs. Decreases: k2tog, k4 tog, ssk, sk2p, purl 7 tog. 3 from 3 and 5 from 5 star stitch Lace is largely worked on RS rows, with occasional knit sts on WS rows, and nupp loops purled together on WS rows. Full instructions are given on how to work these stitches Finished Measurements: 48 cm (19 inches) deep at centre and 175 cm (69 inches) wide along top/neck edge.
