Divine Mother Lalita, the beloved Hindu goddess, represents play, bliss, and love that is pure. She is the wife of Shiva, whom she married only after gathering interested parties and announcing she would only consent if they would accept that she would remain independent. Lalita then trusted destiny to make the final choice about whom she would marry as she tossed a garland of flowers into the air, which landed on Lord Shiva. Lalita was the leader of an army of female warriors which was one of the most feared in the land. However, one day when they were under attack, she found that all her female soldiers were asleep and could not be woken. When she realized the predicament they were in, Lalita opened her mouth, not to scream, but to laugh, and it was then that Lalita gave birth, through her laughter, to the Hindu God Ganesh.
