Parisian interior design duo Hauvette & Madani, who we interviewed a few months ago, just completed a new project — a former farm turned holiday home outside of Paris — and it has everything we could possibly want in a vacation house. The interiors of the stone farmhouse are bursting with the warm touches and earthy palettes we’ve come to love about the duo’s work: pale wood-clad accent walls; arcade-like arched walls in the joint living room and kitchen; patterned tiled floors; and a glossy white ceramic hearth that looks like it’s going to do numbers of Pinterest. The four bedrooms are even full of vintage pieces that you can take home, at a price, including ’70s chrome side tables, Art Deco chairs, and brass Jacques Biny appliqué lamps. The outside isn’t too bad, either. The complex, in Cogners, near the wine producing Loire Valley, sits within two hectares of private parkland complete with rolling hills and a quaint waterfall, as well as the idyllic surrounds of the French countryside at your doorstep. And the best part? You can rent it all yourself.

Hi all, I thought I would share with you my latest project. I saw this great picture online from the Brambly hedge series of books and loved the over sized dresser. I had a dresser which had lost its doors, sorry but I didn't take a photo of it before I started to take it apart. I must remember to do that in the future. I used 2mm card stock to build up the height and used a lot of the original shelves as well as building in some more of my own. I painted it in matt ivory emulsion to match my previous shabby display cupboard and used the same pins as door knobs. All of the drawers were made by me and all open. I found a great online tutorial by Lesley Shepherd for making a mouse which was really easy to follow. http://miniatures.about.com/od/makeminiatureanimals/ss/Sew-A-Miniature-Felt-Mouse.htm I hope to add more to the dresser and mouse. Hope you like them ;0) Natalie

My mother and grandmother made sure I took piano lessons starting at eight years old. I liked playing but not necessarily practicing. Then my folks moved and the piano did not move with us. I found myself in a strange school far from my friends and cousins I missed my piano exceedingly. In Sixth Grade music classes I wanted to touch the piano, but was too shy to ask. Then m my grandmother bought me a used upright piano, painted white. Mom painted it a light green, a trendy color in 1964. I resumed lessons. In 1966 I had six months of guitar lessons, then dropped lessons all together. But I continued to play, teaching myself. I have an antique quarter sawn oak, planck front music cabinet full of sheet music. The oldest pieces were given to me when I was a girl: Deep Purple and Symphony. In the early 1970s in Philadelphia we came across a collectibles shop that sold sheet music and I started collecting it. I do play the music. But sometimes I buy it just for the cover art. Exotic women abound Fashion trends War and music seemed to hand-in-hand in the last century. That kind of musical patriotism has vanished. Couples are a perennial theme. What great art I even love the fonts used on the old music, like Dromedary More girls If a famous singer performed the song it is likely they appeared on the sheet music. Sometimes the gal became famous later.
