Editorial note: This is a personal story of how two women came to join the Church. It's important to remember that every person's journey is different, and we acknowledge that gay members of the Church should find the solution that best works for their situation. This story was shared as part of a series called Splitting the Sky, a YouTube documentary series featuring stories of predominately LDS women.
It's a scripture most missionaries know by heart. It's the scripture that led to the Restoration of the Church. It's also the scripture that is the Mutual theme for this year.
This article originally ran in LDS Living in 2015. In celebration of the 70th anniversary of Charlie Brown's first mention in a comic strip on May 30, 1948, we wanted to share Charles M. Schulz's legacy of faith with our readers.

I recently had the sacred privilege of escorting a friend through one of our exquisite temples as she received her endowment. A few weeks later, I listened to a well prepared and beautifully delivered church
The days leading up to June 1978 offer a classic illustration of the pattern leading to much of revelation—an urgent question, an intense consideration, a prayerfully formulated tentative answer, and a spiritual confirmation. Few have fought as hard for an answer as President Spencer W. Kimball in this matter.

According to Alexander, Emma seemed to sink away, but then she raised up and stretched out her hand, calling, “Joseph! Joseph!” Falling back on Alexander’s arm, she clasped her hands on her bosom, and her spirit was gone. Both Alexander and Joseph thought she was calling for her son Joseph, but later, Alexander learned more about the incident. Sister Elizabeth Revel, Emma’s nurse, explained that a few days earlier Emma had told her that Joseph came to her in a vision. She then told the following to Alexander Hale Smith. Elizabeth Brierley Revel’s account given to Alexander Hale Smith: “Well,

In 1838, Phoebe Woodruff, the wife of Mormon apostle Wilford Woodruff, became seriously ill and apparently died. Wilford recounted: “The sisters gathered around her body, weeping, while I stood looking at her in sorrow. The spirit and power of God began to rest upon me until, for the first time during her sickness, faith filled my soul, although she lay before me as one dead.”
Gail Miller, owner of the NBA’s Utah Jazz, says that everything she is today is related to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but during the first six to eight years of her marriage to her first husband, Larry H. Miller, she was not active in the Church. She explains in her book Courage To Be You that she began bringing her kids to Church by herself after her son asked, “Mommy, where does God live?” Eventually, Larry began joining her, but she says that the way her family was treated upon their return to the Church made an impression that has remained in her heart in the years since. There are few, experiences more painful than losing a child. Even though we as Latter-day Saints know we will one day be reunited with our family members again through the sealing power, there is still an intense grief that comes from no longer having that family member with us on earth.
The solemn testimony of the Three Witnesses has appeared in every edition of the Book of Mormon since 1830. Each of these specific men—Oliver Cowdery, Martin Harris, and David Whitmer—sacrificed much to help with the translation and publication of the Book of Mormon, and it’s likely this is a significant part of why they were chosen as witnesses. Importantly, throughout their
