I created this booklet to supplement teaching CKLA Listening and Learning Domain 10: Colonial Towns and Townspeople. I wanted something to use with my students after teaching each lesson, where we could write about what we learned in the story that day. Some students can write their own ideas, where others will write what we come up with together. Students will help me come up with what to write with prompting and support and copy my sentence to their own paper. Each page has a blank box where students can draw a picture to go with their writing. You could staple these together as a book, hole punch them and put in a prong folder, use the writing pages individually, or whatever way works for you! It includes: -cover page -table of contents (4 styles-so you can choose how many pages you want to include) -Writing pages: --All About the Country Family --All About Trips to Town --All About Millers and Bakers --All About Spinners and Weavers --All About Dressmakers, Tailors, Hatters, and Cobblers --All About Dressmakers --All About Tailors --All About Hatters --All About Cobblers --The Elves and the Shoemaker --All About House Builders --All About Bricklayers, Masons and Carpenters --All About Bricklayers --All About Masons --All About Carpenters --All About Blacksmiths --The Little Gray Pony --Stone Soup --BLANK Writing page so you can add your own topics Thank you so much for checking out my product! As a primary teacher, it can be very difficult fitting in grammar instruction into your day. I also have a little secret you might not know about me. I used to loathe teaching grammar. Can any of you relate? It's so difficult to even WANT to teach grammar when we have so many other things we could be doing with our day. Plus, many of us are expected to "spiral" it in with the many other subjects we are expected to teach throughout the day. Although all school districts, programs, and teachers are different, I have found something that students love doing, and that is applying new information into something called an interactive notebook!! And so I created these for grammar...and the students loved them!
This presentation contains a 22 slide PowerPoint lesson in editable PPT format with a worksheet and teacher’s notes. Nightmares are intercultural and therefore make for a fantastic topic to discuss with ESL students. We all have nightmares. They are colorful, elaborate, interesting and in order to describe them, we need to dig in and make use of a large amount of unusual vocabulary which is usually dormant. During this lesson you’ll find that students are delighted to discover other students who share their same nightmares and there’s an overall good atmosphere with everyone airing out their hidden fears. This lesson includes: · The definition of nightmares · What is a false awakening? · can nightmares make you feel better? · the main reason you have nightmares · situations that could cause nightmares · Can you have a nightmare about someone you have never met or seen? · The common themes that come up in people’s nightmares · what fears are most often manifested in people’s nightmares? · Most common work-related nightmares · Most frequent nightmares by gender · can You make them stop? This lesson incorporates some fascinating research about the most frequent nightmares we have and how nightmares are divided between the genders. This last year our family went through something hard. I looked everywhere for what I wanted and couldn't find it so I created this little devotional that we did a few times. I was great for validation, acknowledgement, learning and communication. There are multiple games and prompts. Each activity could be it's own lesson and used in multiple ways. It includes: *Raindrop Pictures & Word Feeling Recognition *Printable Quote on Recovery Suggestions *M&M Feelings Discussion Game *Cloud of Control Game to recognize things you can and can't control Again, this really helped our family get through something hard and become prepared for another trial down the road. This can be adapted to all ages. Enjoy!
Managing time at the beginning of the year can be a little tricky. What if you finish early and have time to spare? We can still make this time meaningful! Here are ten things you can do if you have ten minutes to spare during your day or at the end of it:

Close Reading Point of View Compare and Contrast Should all the sharks in the world be removed from the ocean to protect people from shark attacks? Explore this topic in two different nonfiction articles! View the Video Preview: Preview I wrote this lesson because I wanted an interesting topic that would catch my students' attention. I also was frustrated trying to find articles that showed a clear point of view about a similar topic. I wanted non fiction articles that would be easy to teach with; but would challenge my students at the same time. Point of view, compare and contrast, and supporting answers with evidence is all over the common core standards and PARCC testing. I created this lesson as a fun way to teach and learn these skills. This lesson is focused around two non fiction articles about sharks. The goal is to close read for the author's point of view, find supporting details (text evidence), compare and contrast the author's point of view, and finally write an essay. Included are close reading steps, four pages of directions with explanations, two non fiction articles, graphic organizers, assignment options, and a rubric. This lesson is designed to be taught as an I do, we do, you do model of teaching and learning. It can be modified to fit your needs and your students' needs. You could use it as a whole class lesson, mini-lesson, shared reading, partner reading, independent work, etc. I included directions for how I used it in my classroom last year. I taught fifth grade last year; but this could easily work in sixth grade or even fourth grade. I plan on using it with my sixth graders next year. Enjoy! :) Do you need a FREE main idea lesson? Level: This is suited to B1 but can be used with extra support at A2+ level or as revision with B2- level students. Time: 1 hr + (depending on level, and conversation development). This 'Make & Do Collocations' lesson starts with an introduction to the general rules for when to use make or do in collocations. Students then focus on common categories which use make or do before moving on to some practice exercises. Next, the lesson looks at some make and do collocations which don't obviously follow the category rules. In the next phase of the lesson, the students will learn some further uses of do in collocations. Finally, they are given lots of opportunity to consolidate and practice what they have learned by asking and answering questions featuring the phrases. The lesson ends with a quick revision section. We have a teacher's copy (including teacher's notes, a pronunciation guide and an answer key) and a student version which you can email to your class for online lessons. For best results when printing our PDFs, open and print them through Adobe Acrobat. https://get.adobe.com/reader/

Using Whatever in English, Example Sentences with Whatever Using Whatever In this lesson we will examine the word ‘whatever’. Let’s start with the uses of the word. These kinds of words have several different uses. For example; They can be used to add the meaning of “how / what / why / where it doesn’t matter” according to the word. They can be used to highlight questions. They can be used to be unclear or to indicate that they are not clear. Let’s take a look at what happens when “ever” is added to these words.
