Inlay by Larry Robinson, Guitar by C.F. Martin & Co. This guitar commemorates the milestone of Martin Serial #700,000 and was done completely by hand. The image in the central and lower area of the peghead is a ‘bi’ or ‘pi’ disc, often found in tombs of Han Dynasty emperors. The image on the fingerboard is based on a painting from about the 1st Century B.C. The dragon on the pickguard is similar to an inlay on a tray from the 14th Century. The two inlays on the tailpin strip are Buddhist vajra, symbols of deep awareness and mental clarity. The calligraphy on the heel cap translates to ‘harmony,’ specifically the musical kind.
