I'm with you today to share a card with some of the new Tim Holtz products coming out for Creativation. The dies are sizzix chapter 1, the first release for 2019, there will be three more to come. I've put this card and post over on Country View Crafts project blog too. Process steps Dip and dry the die-cut cottontail in a watery wash of burnt umber and dry. Repeat with burnt sienna, then raw sienna finishing with raw umber. Darken the edges with ground espresso distress ink. Cut another cottontail and paint him black and copper. I just love the shape of this cottontail and there's a bow to go with him too. Take a piece of worn wallpaper and give it a watery wash of white gesso and dry. Repeat if necessary. Stencil with a mix of cerulean blue mixed with titanium white and another stencil with sap green and titanium white. Brayer a couple of layers of titan buff over the whole background .... and then dip and dry in the light blue, light green washes with a tiny drop of raw umber in them to vintage them. When dry splatter with some titanium white and burnt sienna finishing with a tiny amount of monoprinting with watercolour paper using titanium white and titan buff mixed together. Cut some of the lovely new Tim Wildflowers Stems from media paper and paint/watercolour using fluid acrylics and a water spray. Make a greetings embellishment and dye some cheesecloth using watery raw umber and titan buff. Assemble the card. The Beauty is in the Details Once I had put the main pieces together I then played with some flat backed glass domes and a mirror star. With some white gesso, raw umber paint. metallic lustres and mate medium I altered them to look like these. I also used Tim's new 'bone' mixed media powder to die. cut the bow. I sanded the edges and blended in ground espresso distress ink. Yep I'm really happy with that now. xxx Supplies Dies - Sizzix Bigz - Tim Holtz - Cottontail. Discovering Curiosity - explore and inspire I am so pleased to be joining in Tim's remix this month as I have had to miss a couple due to deadlines etc and today instead of a tag I have made a stand up card. I don't have all the materials Tim used so it was a real experiment but I did have the plain tissue wrap and stamped my own design using the documented and perspective sets, adding some words to help set the scene. The tissue was adhered to card with the vintage collage medium that Tim used and then the plaid background is a sheet of canvas from a canvas pad and although it bled a little with the inks I like the effects it made. I used peacock feathers and faded jeans distress inks and then when it was all put together I used a gathered twigs distress marker to edge the edges of the boxes and some antique linen and walnut stain with a water brush to add a bit of ageing to them. I also used the sewing machine, Tim is getting much more confident in using it now, and I zig-zagged around the card from word to word. I don't have the dapper die and recently I have been having fun using the mosaic die (that project is not due till late July I am afraid) and using it as a flat mini configurations frame. All I needed to finish the project were some bits and pieces to fill the boxes and to balance the card. I used alcohol inks on the metal pieces, the star and a little on the acrylic blocks over the photobooth ladies. Mounted on covered mountboard (I used a piece from the Wallflower stash) ..... ..... and an easel on the back ..... .... and we have a stand up card for someone special. All the details of Tim's tag and his remix instructions can be found on his blog and if you're ever looking for a dash of inspiration and some ideas to get you motivated then these tags are the place to go. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the comments about my DecoArt project on the last post, also a big warm welcome to my new followers. Ok I will be back Friday with two posts as it's the first of the month and I will also be on my way to Coventry to join the gang for Dare to Create - if you follow on Face Book I am sure you will have heard all about it. A weekend of workshops with Andy Skinner and Tracy Weinzapfel and lots of lovely people I know are going. Off to get more projects made as I am starting to get behind on my schedule - must get a move on, but first I must also link this to Tim's June Remix post on his blog. Take care and huge hugs. Hello friends! The NEW Sizzix Chapter 1 release designed by Tim Holtz is AMAZING. The new line has many botanical dies, some beautiful colorize dies, a little whimsy, steam punk and a little retro. I can't wait to see all the fun inspiration from the makers. Here is a quick look at some pieces I created. Hope, Peace, Happiness and Love panel Budding Love Card Field Notes from the Garden Wildflower Cards Mr. & Mrs. Bunny Card I will be back soon with details on how I created these. Thanks so much for stopping by! Richele Here are my favorites from the release.
For making this card, I used one of my earlier cards as an inspiration. The background was made with Sky Blue embossing powder. I inked the edges with Vintage Photo and Antique Linen. I also spattered the surface with Antique Linen Distress re-inker. For the butterfly and all the gold parts of the card, I used Princess Gold embossing powder. The butterfly was coloured with Squeezed Lemonade and Wild Honig Distress ink. What I used: Stampers Anonymous, Perspective (CMS213) Stampers Anonymous, Vines&Roses (CMS298) Stampers Anonymous, Tiny Text (CMS394) Ranger embossing powders (Princess Gold, Sky Blue) Ranger Distress ink pads (Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Wild Honig, Squeezed Lemonade) Ranger Distress Archival ink (Black Soot) Ranger Distress embossing ink etc. With my card, I would like to join the: Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Lazy Days Of Summer Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Emboss it
I made this tag for today's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers - Audrie asked us to check out Tim Holtz Inspiration Pinterest Board. I made a tag inspired by this tag I made mine in a summer theme rather than winter - but used many of the techniques Barbarayaya used - remnant rub resist, spraying with stains, layering an image over the tag. I started with a plain manila tag and added some Idea-ology Remnant rubs (Elements and Botanicals) - Then I placed the tag inside a used pizza box (to contain the spraying!) and sprayed over it with Ranger Distress Stains in Broken China, Antique Linen, twisted Cintron and Salty Ocean - drying it with my heat tool, flicking it with water, adding more stain, till I was happy with the look. I wiped the stain off the Remnant Rubs (they resist the stain) and then I dried it thoroughly with my heat tool. I stamped a design stamp from Tim's Classics #3 set on the right side of the tag in Archival Jet Black Ink and sponged around the edges of the tag with Ranger Distress Ground Espresso Ink. I stamped the dragonfly from Tim's Classics #1 set on a piece of rustic cream card using Archival Jet Black Ink. I cut out the dragonfly and colored it with Ranger Distress Markers - Broken China on the wings and Old Paper on the body. I sponged the edges with with Ground Espresso and layered it over the tag with foam dots. I die cut the 'summer' from Handwritten Vacation dies out of blue and green Kraft Core Core-dinations paper that I lightly sanded. I put the die green word inside the negative blue die cut and layered it over the tag with foam dots. To finish off my tag - I added green Glitter Gems from Michaels, looped a piece of Linen Ribbon through the tag hole and pined on a Philosophy tag that I colored over with a weathered wood Distress Crayon. I'm also linking my tag to: Just Us Girls (my Summer is an embedded die cut) Mixed Media Monthly #36 Put a Stamp on It Stamps: Classics #1 and Classics #3 - Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Paper: #8 Manila Tag - Ranger, True Black and Rustic Cream - PTI, Kraft Core Core'dinations. Happy Sunday, everyone! I hope you've had a great weekend. Where I live, it has been cold and miserable - I'm so ready for spring! While we wait for that to come, I thought I'd share a pretty, springlike card I made for CHA using Tim Holtz's new Perspective stamp set from Stampers Anonymous. The butterfly is the star of this set and you can see why - it's incredible! And there are so many different ways you can use it. For my card, I stamped it on Wendy Vecchi's Clearly For Art film using StazOn and then cut it out. I applied Glossy Accents to the back side and then covered it with Rock Candy Dry glitter. It's so pretty in person! The card base was made with Ranger's Watercolor Paper and various Distress Stain Sprays. I spritzed them onto a craft sheet and then dipped the paper into the mist. I love the way this group of colors blends. It always makes me happy! When it was dry, I used one of the dies from Tim's Labels set to cut a window. I stamped the sentiment onto the card and then adhered the watercolored panel on top. To finish the card, I adhered the butterfly to the card, heated it gently and then bent the wings up. I added random bits of Tissue Tape and a few embellishments and I was done! All the supplies I used can be found at Simon Says Stamp via the links below. Good morning everyone on this first day of November (how did that happen!) and time for our new monthly challenge at Country View Chall...
It's my turn to post over at the Country View Crafts Project Blog and I have a card today that incorporates some of Tim's new products, Perspective stamps and Mixed Media Thinlits. I have more photos and details there if you would like to see them. Listen to your heART and have a great week. hugs Brenda xxx Updated with details from CVC Isn't it lovely when the postman delivers you one of those pizza boxes filled with goodies that you have ordered from Susan and when I opened a parcel of pre-order products and found the new mixed media dies from Tim Holtz in it, I just had to have a play. Before the idea for this card came about I was in the process of making some journalling pages using the brand new stencils from Tim Holtz and using the reverse of the sprayed stencil on some spare card. When it had dried and I picked it up to put away in a bits box I immediately wanted to use the new mixed media thinlits dies, so I ran it through the Big Shot and cut it down to size and I really liked the effects. I gathered some elements together and began putting things together. I stamped the butterfly using the French Flight Framelits set on the background and on another piece of card, cutting it out and adding it over the other one. You can see the grungy background under the frame below. Some music paper dipped lightly into inks, a ribbon and wishbone finish the embellishing. I also used the new Perspective set of stamps from Tim Holtz for the sentiment, which was stamped in Olive archival ink. The piece I found to use for the underneath of the die-cut area was originally created using distress paints and walnut stain distress ink. I don't throw anything away ....... lol. I really love the effects these mixed media dies create and you get four different designs in the packet. Happy crafting. hugs Brenda xxx Ranger Archival Ink Pad - Olive Wendy Vecchi Archival Ink Pad - Orange Blossom Tim Holtz Distress ink - Rusty hinge Tim Holtz Distress marker - Vintage photo Tim Holtz Distress Reinker - Peeled Paint Tim Holtz Distress Reinker - Stormy Sky Tim Holtz Thinlits - Mixed Media Tim Holtz Stamps - Perspective Tim Holtz Framelits w/stamps - French flight InLinkz.com
