I'm back from a weekend in the Catskills where we talked endlessly about renovation, furniture layout and colors for the country cottage. Essentially a dream weekend for me. My brother and sister in law are tackling a lot of the critical indoor stuff now like plumbing and roofing (aka nothing you really want to hear about) but the weather is turning warmer and they have a ton of outdoor space so we are looking for outdoor inspiration. This round brick patio with pergola and firepit totally stopped me dead. I've never laid a patio before so perhaps this is just a bit too ambitious for a DIY but I'm smitten. Any master patio people out there? How hard would this be? image via owner builder network + decomanitas Speaking of firepits, isn't this DIY BBQ caddy adorable? The DIY tutorial is not in english but the photos make it easy to follow along. A wood burning firepit is a definitely must have for them which I know is a fairly straight forward. The curved pergola might be out of our depths but the brick laying is a totally new thing for me. Maybe doing a square instead of a circle would make more sense for a first timer? Give it to me straight people.

LRV: 63 Number of Coats: We recommend applying 2 coats of paint for best coverage. Color Disclaimer: It is our mission to solve the number one pain point in paint and shopping for it online: color. We know that selecting a color online can feel like a daunting task. You might even be wondering if the color will ‘actually’ look like it does online when it arrives. This is why we’ve laid it all out in our Mixed Media images where each of our 210 colors are shown as a digital swatch, a color chip and a painted finish. Some colors may vary slightly from the digital swatch, this is common as digital colors are approximations and are not exact matches. Paint colors represented are approximations and are not exact matches as color can vary device-to-device. There is no guarantee colors viewed online will look like the final paint finish, which is why we always recommend sampling. Sampling: As with any paint project, we highly recommend you live with your color selections before making your purchase; as lighting, time of day, sheen, surface and substrate type as well as adjacent colors can have a contributing factor on the color selection process. Dunn-Edwards DURA offers a variety of sampling options: 3”x5” Color Chips, 8”x8” SimpleSample™ Peel & Stick Sheets, and 6oz. Color Samplers that come with an application brush. Please note that all sampling options are only available in our Matte Sheen.

The Epidaurus Amphitheater in Greece still has near perfect acoustics because of the limestone seats which filter low background noises and enhances higher- frequency noises from the stage. The beautiful design concept of amphitheaters has been around for centuries. Meant to be a gathering place of spectators for special events, these venues are an obvious necessity for campsites of all kinds. Large or small, intricately built or simply made- they help bring people together for entertainment, worship, reflection, music and more. Historically, outdoor amphitheaters were (usually) circular or oval arena, such as Rome’s Colosseum. Outdoor theaters in antiquity tended to be more semi-round. Gladiator fights, chariot races, athletics, and live theatrics were among some of the events held at these arenas. Some able to accommodate over 50,000 spectators, ancient amphitheaters were elaborately adorned and often made of precious materials such as marble and limestone. Regardless of material, all of these freestanding structures contained a central showground with tiers of concentric seating and were built for optimal viewing and sound amplification. Today's amphitheaters still mimic the notable characteristics of their historic counterparts. And while some still appear in circular shapes, many contemporary amphitheaters often take on a more semi-circular form. A hilly campsite acts as a perfect, natural amphitheater as seating can be cut or built into steep valleys. Breathtaking views are the perfect backdrop to any presentation, so be aware of your surroundings and pick a picturesque background scene for your amphitheater's location. Asking basic questions about your amphitheater needs will help determine what will work best for your camp. What type of activities will be taking place in the arena? Will you need electrical outlets? What time of day will it mostly be utilized? Will you need to install lighting? Do you need a large stage or a small podium? How many people are you looking to seat? Do you need a covered stage? Is the area easily accessible? Below are several great examples of different types of modern-day amphitheaters- some of which may inspire your very own!
