Singing Happy Birthday I can’t believe I’m even writing about my son’s SECOND birthday party! How in the world do they grow so quickly?! I kept looking at him and wondering how he could already be two years old. He is pretty incredible, and I am one blessed mama! Thank you to Todd and my …
I'm not a crafty person by nature. I don't think I ever made a single thing until Ethan's first birthday party in which case I felt overwhelmed and on the brink of insanity. As time went on, I started to really, really enjoy crafting while hoping that I somehow became good at it. I'm still learning, but this time around, I really had fun making things for Ethan's second birthday party and taking those first small steps into the world of making-not-ordering things! Here's a little glimpse into some of the things I made for his Curious George party this past weekend, as well as all of the little details that went missed in my main party post! THE INVITATIONS: Alright, these I definitely didn't make. The amazing invitations came from Dizzy Design Studio. Aren't they cute?! She was amazing to work with and I loved everything about these invitations, right down to the fact you can customize what your little Curious Baby looks like. In each invitation, I had one of these cards and the stamped envelope. If people wanted, in lieu of gifts, we were collecting donations for the Global Links Nebulizer Campaign to provide nebulizers (or breathing treatment machines) to those in need. (That's who I'm blogging for, too!) We figured Ethan didn't really need anything, but other children certainly did. PARTY FAVORS: Oh man, the party favors. I spent so much time on these, it's not funny. I think my husband breathed the biggest sigh of relief when the party ended and we could get our dining room table back. It was important to me to give the kids some really curiously fun bags without any candy or things like that in them. I ended up making two bags: one for kids over 2, and one for kids under 2. Under Two: The under two bags contained: - Bag of "monkey munch" -A Happy Tot puree pouch - My True Nature natural bubble bath - Crayons and a Curious George coloring sheet Over Two: The over two bags contained: - Bag of "monkey munch" - Two jars of finger paint - Tickle Me Plant seed packet - Container of moon sand (and the recipe!) - My True Nature bath bubbles Both bags had contained Ethan's favorite thing ever - My True Nature bath bubbles in the cutest little bottles. These bubbles are pure, natural and contain plant-based cleansers that leave your little one in bubble heaven! I was so excited to be able to share this amazing product from one awesome company with all of our guests! FOOD DISPLAY STANDS: I made all of the food display stands at Ethan's party, and I was pretty proud of them! I went to the local Goodwill and picked up wine glasses ($0.10!), vases ($0.25!) and candle sticks ($0.90!) as well as other clear plastic or glass trays, platters, plates and bowls (all under $1!). From there, I took some Epoxy and attached the sticks or glasses to the bottom of the plates: Once they were dried and washed for the first time (I let them sit for a full week because I'm neurotic), I spray painted them yellow, red and blue. The plus to using glass or clear plastic is you only spray paint the bottom side to the platters. That way, the entire thing looks painted without paint actually touching the surface that comes in contact with the food! Ta Da! I feel like my nights are now a little too empty without all my party-favor-assembling and spray-painting going on, but it's also nice to no longer have a dining room table that doubles as a moon sand factory.
After Jackson's birthday party I had so many questions about where I got everything for his party. I decided to create a post about it so you can shop all of the pieces I bought to put it all together. Both of his grandpas, both great grandpas, and dad all work in construction so its in his blood and was the perfect theme to pick for his party this year. It's no wonder that he loves going to the construction sites and says that he wants to be a workin' man like his dad! It all turned out so cute and he was so so excited about it! I ordered so many cute little things from Amazon, had balloons installed and had one of my great friends @meganfaulknerbrown of the @sweettoothfairy make the cake of course! It all came together perfectly and I wanted to share all of the details with you here! So… this post is a little late. I blame the cross country move madness!!! This party was our last hurrah before we moved out of the house! So wild. We had a small get together with some of Otis’ good friends outside in our backyard. Of course Blake said, “DONT GO OVERBOARD” but you know… I…

Have a little one that loves trains? I do too! Today I'm sharing my son's second birthday party- it's a modern black and white train themed birthday party. I LOVE how the decor turned out and he loved all the trains. The black and white makes the train theme totally classy and modern, complete with wooden train tracks, train whistles and more.
I'm back with a little update! My baby turned one year old a few weekends ago. And I. Can't. Believe. It. I never really understood why moms would cry when their babies turned one. But now I get it. My baby is a toddler and it happened all so fast. In a flash we sped through breastfeeding, tummy time, burp cloths, and bottles. And now, all that is boxed up as sweet little memories of a year gone by. Shortly after we decided on the name Abraham, I came up with the idea to throw him an Abraham Lincoln themed first birthday. Sure he wasn't even born yet, but that's not too early to start planning his first birthday is it? (don't answer that) We didn't name Abe after the former president but we didn't mind making the connection with one of the greatest presidents this country has ever seen. A couple months before the big day, I came up with the invitation. And it is my favorite. I created the invite by downloading the background image and then layering a neutral backdrop on top in order for me to add the party details. I had some fun with the wording by looking at the Gettysburg Address for inspiration. I had them printed onto cardstock at staples. Then I focused on the decorations. I wanted to incorporate a patriotic, red, white, and blue theme. I also added a bit of copper to keep it from feeling like a 4th of July party. So I bought these fun red, white, and blue fans and secured a print out of a copper penny onto one of the fans. It was a super windy day so we secured them to the siding using Zots. Meijer was selling these fun political napkins and I couldn't resist. Abraham Lincoln was a part of the republican party but I did buy one package of the democratic napkins so everyone would feel represented. We used cute little baskets with red, white, and blue liners instead of paper plates. Fun! Another way I incorporated Abe Lincoln was by creating names for some of the food. For example: Abra-Hamburgers Lincoln Log Dogs Lemon-Abe We also served Corn on the cob (Abe's Ears), fruit salad, pasta salad, and chips. I had made cookies in the shape of Abe Lincoln's hat that I was planning to serve too, but I ended up running out of time to decorate them before the party. Michael suggested I set them out anyway and let people decorate their own. Major brownie points for the hubby for that idea! MAJOR! It was fun to have a little activity for people to participate in while we waited to eat. Not to mention.....cookies as appetizers = winning. After eating we opened gifts. Michael and I talked about different ideas of what we could get Abe for his birthday and we finally landed on the perfect idea. A few years ago we were given a couple of wooden Adirondack chairs that I refinished. We have them sitting out in front of our house facing the river and we really enjoy using them. So we decided to get one just Abe's size and engrave his name on it. We bought this chair on Amazon, burned his name onto the front, and stained it to match. And yes, his onesie does have a shade-wearing Abe Lincoln on it. I made the onesie using my silhouette machine and some heat transfer paper. The suspenders I found last minute at Meijer and the shorts I bought from a secondhand store. While opening gifts, we played a little trivia game. In between each gift we had a little trivia game that we played to keep the adults interested. I called it "Presidents Say What?" First prize took home Lincoln, the movie released in 2012, staring Daniel Day-Lewis (it's SO good if you haven't seen it!) and second prize was a roll of pennies. :-) And before it was smash cake time, we had to do a little photo op with our little Abe. It lasted all of 40 seconds but it was just enough time to get this picture. And finally, it was time for cake. I found this fun red, white, and blue cake mix at Meijer. This birthday party was not necessarily brought to you by Meijer... but it might as well have been. I made a two layer cake and covered it with white frosting with star spangled sprinkles on top. I made a copper "1" for the top of the cake as a nod to the penny and his first birthday. It took him a while to get into it. But he finally dove in once we gave him a fork to hold. He didn't use the fork, but he liked holding it and digging into the cake with his hands and face. The party went by in a flash, just like his first year. But we tried to enjoy every minute. We are so thankful for all the family that helped with the party and all those who came to celebrate with us. Happy Birthday Abraham Mark. We love you so much!

I warn you, you might experience choo choo overload, here. Or, just a whole lot of Little Man cuteness. Cal’s 2nd birthday was such a success, and seeing him enjoy every bit of it was just so special. Being the second born, he tends to take backseat to his sister’s activities, so having a day […]

Hey my friends! I am a bit behind on this post... His Birthday party was in March but I actually forgot to post about it!! Second child problems HAHA! I was looking through my plans for posts and realized I totally forgot about little Rowen's Two Legit to Quit Birthday Party! Better late than never I suppose... I am NEVER one to spend a lot on a party so a lot of this stuff you will be able to make yourself or print off here... My second born, Rowen, turned two! I can't believe how fast time flies. I love hip hop and 90's nostalgia so I went for a TWO LEGIT party. It was super fun and fit his little personality so well! Like I said, I don't like to spend too much money on parties. Some tips I have for saving is pick up plates and napkins and forks for cheap when you see them on sale. All different colors. I also use my printer and print off decor instead of buying it... and another tip I have is save your pizza hut rewards (or whatever local pizza place you have) to get free pizza for your parties! I got 2 medium pizzas for free for this party so all I had to buy was the snacks and a couple cheap decor items off of amazon (linked below) but otherwise, I was able to pull off a cute little party for next to nothing! LINKS: Shirt: The color he had is out of stock but here is a darker blue one https://amzn.to/3cr9PkD 2 Balloon: https://amzn.to/3fF2vnn Radio balloon: https://amzn.to/2LjevND Popcorn cups: https://amzn.to/2LmlOnF Glasses: https://amzn.to/2LlqASl PRINTABLES: To print simply right click on the picture to save and print! Signs on the cabinets: (just taped on the cabinets) Food signs: (Grab some cheap frames you probably already have and put the signs in the frames for the table decor!) Cake toppers: (I just cut these out and tape them to toothpicks and stick them down in the cupcakes). That's it!! I do this same thing for every party and it saves me so much money in the long run. I hope you enjoyed and got some inspiration for your next upcoming party!! Stay safe and well and I'll see you soon!! <3 Love you, Let's be friends!! FACEBOOK | INSTAGRAM | PINTEREST
