My life is filled with little altars everywhere.
So here’s the thing about Capri. It is actually pretty difficult to go to the beach. Most of the island action happens in the Piazz...
I saw this beautiful little shrine as we left Cortona….

Sacred Space Aromatic Traditions 2015 “Sometimes I wonder if any of us are cut out for the lives we lead.” ― Rebecca Wells, Little Altars Everywhere Really! If you told me a two years ago that I would be where I am now - living on a floating home in Portland Oregon - I would have felt a little overwhelmed (to say the least). It was a real push to pack up my home, lab and part of my family and move across the country. As soon as we unpacked, we began to renovate from the water up. Yes! We replaced the float system of old growth logs underneath or home, put in a sub-floor, later flooring, electricity and plumbing. I am also living a bi-coastal relationship. There is nothing easy about it. You miss the cues, the little things your senses pick up about your partner. There is nothing physical about it. Today was a really difficult day. We all have them. Sometimes we have them more than we care to. Today the sun came out and shown through my kitchen window illuminating my greenhouse and statue. A gentle reminder to stop, slow down, and take the moment IN. Ahhhhhhh.... It is time to be grateful to everyone and everything that brought me to this moment. Sometimes I feel like I am not cut out for the life I chose because I forgot to be grateful for everything that got me here in the first place. Thank You! I am grateful.

After the Miniature Masterpieces show at the Wilson Arts Council, I was still obsessed with small-format painting and did a couple more cat pieces. I still have 4 little canvases left, so I expect I will probably do some more (after Easter - working like crazy on getting a bunch of Pysanky done right now!!). They don't always turn out the way I had envisioned (!!), but I'm trying to stay in the process instead of being highly invested in the product. It's a journey, for sure!
A pocket altar, lucky altar o miracle altar, this piece is completely made using recycled materials, old vintage pieces of fabrics, old medals and broken jewelry's. I don't use a sewing machine in my creations, my pieces are handstitched so you may notice some imperfections, but they are very beautiful and unique. l made each piece with love and positive energy. You can use your pocket altar to carry it with you in your purse for protection. You can also hang it on your wall for decoration, hang it in your car or use it on your door to keep off evil spirits. Each pocket altar comes with a plastic clear pocket that you can use to include the pictures of your love ones or any personal token. Some of them also include fabrics pockets that can be use to carry your rosary, or any other personal objects, all; the medals used in the altars has been blessed by the father of San Pablo's religious library. This is something to keep you safe or a lucky charm. It is about 11 inches unfolded.

The Arts Council in the city where I live has decided to do a visual arts fundraiser entitled "Miniature Masterpieces", where for a flat fee every attendee gets to go home with an 8x8 piece of artwork donated by a local artist. I was asked to donate a few canvases for this project, and I had *so* much fun painting them!!! Usually I am frozen solid at the sight of a blank white canvas, but the small format really made it easy for me to experiment and just have fun. Painting has not been my "thing" for many years (and even then it was always watercolors!), so this has been a learning experience for me and has sparked a real passion for small format acrylic work. Here are a few examples of recent paintings (a couple of which are available in my Etsy shop): I learned some valuable lessons during this process about having patience, having FUN, and not being discouraged if things don't turn out exactly the way they were in your head... lol I also figured out that sometimes a painting really only comes together at the very end (although I suppose that is probably true of everyone - if it hasn't come together yet, it's not done! hahaha)
Miniature prayer gardens, or miniature meditation gardens, have been a favorite theme for me for almost as long as I've been working on the hobby of gardening in miniature. Here are some photos from our miniature garden archives and from a display at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show in 2011. It was called the "Eat, Pray,
