In case you missed it, Celtic Crossing 2.0 quilt pattern is now available! Ya'll know sharing pattern tester quilts is my favorite part of part of pattern releases! This pattern is a little bit different than a typical release, but it still needed testers none-the-less! If you haven't already checked out the details about Celtic Crossing 2.0, you can read the blog post about that here. Essentially, this a new and improved version of my original Celtic Crossing pattern. There are new sizes, ombre options, and instructions for precuts! Having testers help me tweak and finalize all of these new additions was crucial. I am always forever grateful for the work that they help me do....not to mention, they all make such gorgeous quilts! So let's take a look at them, shall we? First up, we have Jordan of @jordanandjoyco . She made used the Traditional (two-color) instructions to create a beautiful, soft and subtle Square Throw! This shade of pink is just the sweetest, and that backing print is one of my favorites! . . . . Next, let's take a look at Jenn of @jenniekay_quilts ! She created Modern Throw with multiple fabrics to create such a gorgeous rainbow display of colors! I love all of the florals in this one! . . Now let's look at the Traditional Large Throw quilt that Kara of @hollandhomesteaddesigns made! She used gorgeous yarn-dyed wovens, which surely create the most yummy texture! I also love green/teal combo....it was the perfect St. Patrick's day quilt for yesterday! . . Then there's the Large Throw that Laura of @finleyfabric created. Oh my word, these blues are electrifying! She really created such a seamless gradient. Well done, Laura!! . Have you seen a double sided quilt? What about an INVERSE double sided quilt?? Elizabeth, of @elizabethboltenstudios create two baby size quilt tops, which are the opposite of each other...on one side, the floral is the background and on the other side, the floral is the main print. Isn't this cool? She also has kits for this in her shop, which can be found here. . . . Next up, we have Kristin of @watersidehearth ! She made a Square Throw Traditional version that just oozes serenity and calmness. The the perfect quilt for the perfect view! . . . Last, but not least, we have Erin of @lovesewmodern! I absolutely love the pastel solids that you used....so much so, that I bought it from her! (haha) Be on the look out for the finished quilt soon! . . Since . Since this pattern is already well established on Instagram, there are also lots of really pretty inspiration photos over there! Checkout the hashtag #celticcrossingquilt to see what I mean! . It's here! First Gift Quilt pattern is now available! This pattern is a bit unique, because it's the first quilt in a collection of quilts that I will be designing. The Lois Quilt Collection is inspired by the quilts that my grandmother created for me and my family. While she was a very skilled traditional quilter, I am adding a modern spin to her traditional style. First Gift is the first installment in the collection. . . As many of you know, I was inspired to learn to quilt by my grandmother. I (regretfully) didn’t really show any interest in quilting while she was alive, but when she passed away in 2013, I inherited all of her quilting and craft supplies. I was then inspired to learn how to quilt in memory of her. In fact, she is the

Quilt mock-ups are such a nifty little modern invention that really help you visualize what you quilt will look like before you have any of your fabric on-hand. Most of my quilts start as a mock-up because I want to narrow down fabrics and color placement before I get started. This usually sets me up for success so that I'm not wasting time and fabrics trying to figure out how I want my quilt to look. A lot of times I start with a

Alright, friends! I'm so excited to share the second quilt in The Lois Quilt Collection....Model Farm! The Lois Quilt Collection is inspired by the quilts that my grandmother created for me and my family. First Gift Quilt is the first pattern in the collection. I'm excited to keep adding to it! You can read more about First Gift Quilt here. This quilt is a modern take on a traditional log cabin block. This design was inspired by a quilt that my grandmother made... seen below. As you read about in my First Gift blog post, she inspired me to start quilting. We had a sweet relationship and I think about her often! . Her quilt isn't quite finished. There are still a few straight pins and safety pins within the quilt. I've told myself that I am going to finish it one day...but I do kind of like having it exactly how she left it. I don't know....we will see what happens. . I love how she used the negative space within each block to create an overall design. I decided to focus on this element as I was designing Model Farm. I reworked the block to create my own proportions/dimensions, and I decided to leave a lot negative space within the quilt. I put the blocks

My Palette Picks 24 piece fat quarter bundle with Robert Kaufman is starting to ship to stores! YAY! On one hand it feels like i just announced the bundle, but on the other hand, it feels like I've known about it for years! haha. Regardless I still have 4 more quilts (plus one in the works) to share with you! If you haven't read my initial blog post about this bundle, maybe start there! . . I already shared about my Celtic Crossing quilt that I made with this bundle...you can read about that here. Now let's take a look at my Deco quilt! This has been my most popular pattern to date, so I definitely wanted to create this quilt using the bundle. If you have the pattern, you know that the quilt has a few areas that are strip pieced. Because of that, yardage really gives you the best use of your fabric. However, since I would be using fat quarters for this...I had to do some math to figure out what my game plan would be. Lucky for you, I documented exactly what I did, so you can use this PDF with the pattern to create the exact same quilt. You can sign up to download the PDF here. . For this project, I wanted to squeeze as many fat quarters into the quilt as possible. I say that because if you really want to have best use of your fabric, you could totally get by with less fat quarters. Whenever you look at the PDF you'll quickly see where you can consolidate fabrics! However, my goal for this quilt was to create a really fun and different ombre quilt using the gradients within the bundle. I think of this bundle in terms of warm and cool fabrics, so initially, that's how my mind split everything up. Mocking up the pattern with the fabrics on the computer was a huge help for this quilt! It was really nice to be able to switch things around and test out different ideas. That being said, you could also do this with little scrap pieces of fabric. Lay them out on a table and play around with the order that you want your fabrics to appear within the quilt. . . You might notice the smaller squares of fabric in the photos above. Like I mention, then pattern calls for strip piecing, but I wasn't sure if it'd work or not with fat quarters. So for my initial sample of the quilt, I cut all of my squares individually and sewed them together one by one. Thankfully, we figured out *after* the fact that strip piecing does in fact work with FQs and the PDF explains how you can modify the pattern for that! For me, it made sense to start with my warm, orange-y and pecan colors; then fade to purples, when then fade into blues. This is very different from how I initially wrote the Deco quilt pattern....but really it was fun to try something different. Again, the PDF will explain exactly what I did. You do need a copy of the pattern for the PDF to make sense. Having a game-plan is super important (for me at least) when I deviate from the pattern. . . . Once the quilt top was finished, I sent it to Ashley of Henhouse Quilting and she sketched up a really fun custom quilting idea! I love how she played with the negative space. . Similar to my Celtic Crossing quilt that I made with this bundle, I did an ombre binding to mimic the fabrics in the quilt. This took some planning... basically lay the quilt out on the floor and then lay the binding strips around the perimeter to plan how you want those fabrics to appear along the edge. I used Kona Creamsicle as the backing. . . We photographed this quilt in the beautiful space of the Graham Mill in Graham, NC. I've said it once and I'll say it again....that old brick just gets me every time!! . . . . . I'll be sharing about my other quilts with my Palette Picks bundle in the coming weeks. It's now shipping to stores, so be sure to grab one in the shop! . Rhythm Quilt Pattern is now available! This is my favorite part about launching a pattern.....going through all of the pretty pattern tester quilts and sharing them with you! This group of quilters help make pattern writing possible. They check my math, make sure my instructions make sense and create some GORGEOUS quilt samples. I mentioned on Instagram this morning that I love the fact that quilting really brings people together. In a sense, it's like we are all collaborating, which makes the process not only fun, but very rewarding! Let's take a look at their quilts, shall we? . First up is Debbie from @sweetlittlequilts . She created a really sweet baby quilt and even quilted it herself on her long arm. I love that she used lots of printed fabric with this. Adorable! . . . Look at this quilt-crinkle after it's first wash! . Next up, we have Allison of @allison.ramsing! She used fabrics from the Florida collection by Sarah Watts of Ruby Star Society! I love how she grouped her fabrics for this, it keeps the eyes moving horizontally across the whole quilt versus up and down each column. She also used a darker Speckled fabric by Rashida Coleman Hale for the background and it couldn't be more perfect! . . . Moving on to Jenn of @jennbquilts! She used some really gorgeous greens and blues to create this throw size quilt. She also used some Ruby Star Society Speckled fabrics! The cool colors remind me so much of summertime by the ocean. I love it so much! . . . Next up is Cait of @caitgiselle. She also used a cooler color palate. I love that she had her darker colors meet in the middle. It's the opposite from what I did with my Rhythm quilts, but I love how it turned out! . . Next up is this super dreamy neutral color palate by Kelly of @ksfquilts. I am seriously LOVING this!! . . Next, I'm taking you to a tropical vacation to see Tonya, of @quiltandarrow's gorgeous creation! This quilt makes me want to sip some sort of fruity cocktail by the beach! Love it! . . . Now lets travel up to Canada to see Linda, of @bluebarnquiltco's Rhythm quilt! She added a super fun element of using striped fabric as her horizontal lines. I LOVE how the fabric and the pattern play off one another! Linda also has kits for this quilt and she ships internationally! . . . Laura of @finleyfabric made this stunning Large Throw size Rhythm quiltusing Bonnie and Camille's Basic Collection. It's so pretty!!! . . . Erin of @lovesewmodern created another rainbow inspired quilt. She used an arch quilting motif which really adds to the rainbow idea, which I love! These colors are so saturated and beautiful. I also love there its an even mix of prints and solids! . . Laura of @silversstitches used stunning shades of yellow, orange, reds, pinks and purples and they're all SO pretty together! . Jenn of @jenniekay_quilts used subtle shades of coral, purples and pecan to create SUCH a gorgeous small throw quilt!! . . Elizabeth of @elizabethboltenstudio packed a punch with her darker background! Her colors are very soft and soothing, yet the combination of everything makes it very striking! She has kits for this quilt in her shop! . . Kara of @hollandhomesteaddesigns made a gorgeous neutral baby size Rhythm! . Next up, Brittany of @hopscotchcotton made this STUNNER of a quilt. Just look at those colors! It's also another example of how the background color can really add to the effect of this design! Next is Kristin of @watersidehearth! She used some of my favorite Kona pinks & purples, with a super pretty light periwinkle background. It's perfect! . . Last but not least, we have Nuria of @fabricstork. She knocked it out of the park with her fabric choices. I also love how the quilt has a
