The smaller deer (in front) seemed very nervous by my presence, alternating between a frozen staring position to turning away and pacing a few steps--then starting over. The larger deer (doe) approached and rubbed against the yearling, then licked its face, and finally...this pose. They both lingered like this, then returned to rooting in the snow, and ignoring me.
