Artist Alexandra Kehayoglou (previously) creates exquisite pieces of flowing textiles that reference the rugged landscapes of her homeland, Argentina. In the creation of each tapestry, Kehayoglou transforms surplus carpet fabric into natural elements that range from a spectrum of Earth-colored mosses to clusters of trees and serpentine rivers that cut through the heart of her weaves. Entwined within each piece are fragments of the artist’s own memories, including witnessing waterways slowly recede and the alterations to Argentina’s grasslands. More

Not Slow cloth. Slow-sew-quick-quick-slow-cloth. I love the idea of slow cloth but I am always anxious to know where I'm going quickly and using the sewing machine makes that happen. I slowly when I make the felt. It dries very slowly and slowly slowly I work out where I'm going to machine. Then I have a quick quick time on my machine. Outlining , defining laying down the structure. Then finally I have a slow slow slow time which is most enjoyable, adding hand stitch. I have to restrain myself from doing too much. And here's a piece I'm making slow progress with. Work in progress. I've done more since this picture..and there's more to do.

Forget me not garden , is a wool landscape for your floor. A lush spring garden with fresh grass and newly srung flowers. It features 2 pillow hilld incorporated in the rug, to rest your head or feet on. A soft spot to bring nature and sunshine to you all year round. Alfhild Kulper, a Swedish artist and designer, aiming to create physical representations of the soft spots in our minds. I graduated from Central Saint Martins University of the Arts London 10 years ago. And have since lived in the Netherlands, working as a fashion designer for the dutch brand Viktor & Rolf. In 2019 I started making textile art under the name Alfie’s Fuzzy Friends, and in 2021 I took the scary and exciting leap to become a full time artist. Turning from dressing the body towards dressing our living spaces. Creating emotionally loaded, soft shaped textile pieces. Using a mix of traditional tufting techniques with 3D embroidery, I craft landscapes and figures, out of leftover wool from the textile industry in India. They depicture abstract memories of joy and our guardian angels and selves. Thinking of our new digital habitats, that we create as we change and demolish our original landscapes. A glimpse of a lighter world. And a hopefulness of new beginnings and excitement for what is to come.

Marianne Eriksen Scott-Hansen doesn’t have to worry about her flowers wilting. She constructs enormous bouquets of tissue paper blossoms featuring countless petals and leaves in color-coordinated bunches. The Copenhagen-based artist tells Colossal that she doesn’t keep track of the pieces of paper or number of hours she spends on her large-scale projects, preferring to focus on creating rather than the actual process of cutting and shaping. Each piece is crafted by hand and without patterns or templates, making every petal, stem, and bit of pollen unique. More

Dating back to the Vikings, ryijy is a distinctly Finnish textile tradition that produces thick, high-pile tapestries and rugs. The heavily patterned works, which have shifted from functional to decorative, are made by hand-knotting wool and layering the yarn into lush, textured motifs. Huotari begins every work with a color palette and surface, whether in the form of a wall-based piece or a freestanding sculpture. More
