I'm whizzing around the house getting ready for a little vacation, but I have some loot to show you from the Mackenzie Childs Annual Barn Sale. I had to take pictures quickly because it started to rain. It hasn't rained in weeks! Let me tell you that it is NOT in my blood to ever wait in line for anything for THREE long hours.....nooooo sirreeee! But I am happy to report that I survived the barn sale. Thinking back, it was fun meeting all the nice shoppers. We chatted for THREE hours so we were practically family at the end ;o) Most of the shoppers I chatted with had flown in from other states. This was our fourth annual trip to the barn sale, and we have always gone on a Saturday except this year. No lines and no waiting on a Saturday, and I find everything on my list. Did I have fun? YES YES YES YES. But that's easy for me to say now that I am sitting in an air conditioned house sipping my tea and eating a brownie. The first group of shoppers to get into the barn sale had been there for 20 hours. Die hards! There were also personal shoppers there. I might consider that when I retire ;o) On with the loot..... To welcome you into my home, I fell in love with the Torquay Vase Rug for the entry hall. It has a little bit of the Courtly Check in the pattern which is my thing. Another view of the rug which includes Mr. Mountain Breaths and Kiki ;o) Next up is Courtly Check enamelware to add to my collection. Two large serving bowls, cups and saucers, vase, napkin rings and knobs for a dresser I am refinishing. Herb pots, small colander, soap dish and vase. Rimmed dishes, Flower Market dinner plates and a tea kettle that is a gift. The Flower Market enamel dinner plates in the new color "Plum" pair well with my existing Courtly Check chargers. Glass Ornaments...an oh-so-sweet shopping bag! This next photo is a page from the Mackenzie Childs catalog, and I love the white petunias they used with the Courtly Check. Pure and Simple. This pretty plant (a Sedum?) was growing in their garden. Does anyone know the name of it? And last, but certainly not least, is the Courtly Check Pedestal Base. I don't have the glass top on it yet, but it is a great piece that we plan to use every day in our sun porch. With eight windows and two skylights in the room, it is a cheery room to enjoy breakfast and then to relax in the evening. When I entertain outdoors, it can easily be transported to the backyard. Thank you for stopping by! Debbie

Have you seen the new Mackenzie - Childs catalog? Every page is full of gorgeous eye candy. I love the whole Courtly Check line. Every single piece!! You can describe MacKenzie - Childs products as gorgeous, fabulous, beautiful, unique, original, definitely high quality. Affordable, budget friendly, inexpensive??? No, you would never use those words to describe MC products. This little black and white check pot was inspired by MC. First off I painted a few coats of white acrylic paint onto a terra cotta pot. Making sure to let it dry between each coat. I used a pencil to sketch the pattern onto the pot. I scribbled with the pencil a bit to mark the sections I wanted to paint black. After I painted the black and white check pattern, I edged everything up with a metallic gold acrylic paint. When the paint was dry I did a few layers of gloss Mod Podge. Then I ran over to Home Depot for a plant. It was slim pickins at the end of February. Winter be gone! Succulents and a few cacti.....mmmm how Nevada I thought. So I bought six. I am on the fence about my MacKenzie - Childs inspired pot, I do love it, it is eye catching across the room. It was easy to paint and I will probably make a few more. But I still dream about ordering so many of the gorgeous pieces from the catalog. Thank you MacKenzie - Childs for the inspiration! Thank you for stopping by.
