"TINA" This XL piece was originally commissioned in December 2017 by a therapist in my hometown of Montreal for her office. I thought long and hard about the feeling I wanted this piece to add to her space, and it took me three months of sketching and hair pulling to finally produce it. Last year was a really difficult time of transition for me. Actually, it had felt like the last decade had been a never-ending flow of UPS and DOWNS. For every great move in my career or my personal relationships, it felt like there were three big blows that were just waiting to hit me in the face. I often dwell on the negative things that have happened in the wake of the choices that I've made. It's hard for me to acknowledge that while my life is completely different from what I thought it would be, I actually am happier. Progress is slow and I don't have all the answers, but ultimately I know in my heart that I'm moving in the right direction; I'm MOVING UP, because for every struggle, there's GROWTH. ------ ***FOR LOCAL PICKUPS, enter code PICKUPTORONTO at checkout.*** Materials: natural unbleached 3mm 3 strand twisted 100% cotton rope and a wooden dowel Size: width 42in (wooden dowel) x height 36in This item is MADE TO ORDER. How much macrame cord do I need? Learn how to estimate length of macrame cord needed for any project with our handy guide. Below, we have methods for estimating how much cord you need based on a variety of factors such as thickness of the rope and how many knots the pattern calls for. In general, your macrame cord needs to be about four times the length of your project. If the cords are doubled, meaning folded in half to create two cords, then aim for eight times the length of your project. So, if you are making a wall hanging that is about a foot long with doubled strands, figure eight feet of rope per strand. When in doubt, ALWAYS cut more rope than you think you will need.

The basic idea of macrame is to use different types of knots to create patterns and designs. The knots are formed by crossing, looping, and tying cords in specific ways. You don't need any special tools or equipment—just some cords (usually made of cotton, jute, or other natural materials) and your hands! There are several common knots used in macrame, including the Square Knot, the Double Half Hitch, and the Lark’s Head knot. Combining these knots and varying their placement and direction allows you to create intricate and unique macrame designs. Some popular items made with macrame include wall hangings, plant hangers, keychains, bracelets, and even clothing. You can experiment with different colors, textures, and cord thicknesses to add your personal touch to the creations. Macrame is a fantastic way to unwind and be creative. It allows you to make personalized gifts for friends and family or decorate your living space with beautiful handmade pieces.
