I did say I wouldn't be doing a red lip this Christmas... And I'm technically keeping my word because I've got another look coming up very shortly that's something a little different - but today I'm sticking to just about every Christmas Makeup cliche - a classic red lip and pin up eye #sorrynotsorry! After a generous helping of Banila Co Flower Honey Essence Oil (so good) as a primer/glow-giver, I'm using Nars Sheer Glow to even out my skin (it actually feels pretty full coverage after using BB creams and glowy cushions for the entirety of summer and autumn!) and block out any redness that might be brought out by my lip colour of choice. My Bourjois concealer is my go-to lately, it really behaves like a high end product for me. I'm powdering, both for longevity and to get a seamless blend with my cheek products later, with the Dior Nude Air loose powder which I've absolutely been loving using. It's one of those magical powders that fills in pores and fine lines and makes you look airbrushed - I actually compared it to La Prairie's powder in store the other day and they're utterly comparable - a chance to save some dolla'! For cheeks I'm just using a little of my favourite Innisfree contour shade and Burberry's Earthy blush for some natural shadow and Rosie For Autograph's loose highlighter which is just gorgeous - you all need to go out and get this one. I'm usually a gold-over-silver girl, but this year has seen me favour the cool tones of pewters, greys and gun metals, so a silvery eye it is. I'm smudging a little of No7's Metallic Eyes pencil along the lash line and outer corners for a base/some depth. No7's Pewter Shine is a beautiful metallic grey with a warmth to it that makes it uber flattering to wear - it's one best tapped in with fingers. Obligatory winged liner time and I'm using Rimmel's liquid liner, which if you read my Scandaleyes Reloaded Range post, you'll know is excellent. Just some Burberry mascara (yes maaaaam, this is excellent) and some lashes because it's Christmas and more is more. S H O P T H E P O S T JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. There are countless red lipsticks around - and picking just one is quite the task, but, as it's impressed me so much, I'm plumping for Rimmel's The Only One Matte in Take The Stage this year. This red is a firmly neutral, primary red with lots of zing and a great formula. Not too matte, really comfortable, even, rich pigment and long lasting, it's the obvious choice to get you through Christmas - and all at a steal of a price. I then went in with a little bit of Rosie's LOL lipstick just in the centre of the lip for some subtle dimension, not a necessary step but adds a pretty detail. Well this makeup turned out to be rather drugstore friendly! On my hair, all I have on is 5 drops of the Grow Gorgeous Strengthening Oil (you can read my review here - I love this stuff!) and have otherwise left it air-dried, wild and free. Hello my lovely pumpkins! Today i am sharing with you my Natasha denona bronze and glow palette review. This review has been quite requested so here it is!
A few beauty, lifestyle & fashion favourites throughout 2019...
If your makeup doesn't withstand the day Try: Max Factor Facefinity All Day Primer For the most part primers do a good job of making my makeup last however come that hormonal time of the month or on particularly hot summer days I need something more. Which is how I came across Max Factors All Day Primer as I'd heard good things about it and their base products had always worked welll for me in the past. While the dry feeling serum primer doesn't seem like it will do much for your makeup staying power on application it surprisingly works above and beyond, extending makeup wear time by hours and keeping everything in place! On days when I want to ensure my makeup stays put this is the one and only primer I reach for. Panda eyes by 11am? Try: It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara Raccoon eyes have never been on trend and never will and although waterproof mascara can solve the problem they really aren't ideal for everyday wear due to the heavy duty formula that can not only put stress on lash roots but also be harder to remove at the end of the day! So a normal formual mascara it is and thankfully I feel I've found one of the longest wearing formulas that is still easy to remove. This was an instant purchase for me after trying out a sample size and being beyond impressed by the volume it gave my eyelashes and the fact it didn't smudge under my eyes - at all. For someone that does have a problem with oily eyelids that always results in racoon eyes this is a big deal and I had to simply share my budge-proof find with you! When all setting powders make your skin look too matte Try: Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder While I always set my makeup with face powder I've never been a fan of that flat matte look that powders can often give even when wearing a dewy foundation underneath. I've tried countless setting powders now and although some are better than others it's easy to apply a little too much and you are stuck with an over matte finish that you then have to try to rescue with highlighters and blotting with tissue. However, towards to end of last year, I found one of the lightest pressed powders to have ever graced my face. This delicate powder is almost like a veil or dusting that perfectly diffuses the skin and while mattifying allows the dewiness of the skin to still shine through. An ideal powder for dry to normal skin types. Ridges nails you don't want to weaken by buffing Try: Butter London Nail Foundation Priming Base Coat With age comes ridged nails and although this problem can be solved with an inexpensive buffing tool this will lead to a weakened nail bed and isn't a long-term solution. However, a topical remedy is a ridge filling base coat that you can wear alone or under nail polish to create a smooth surface. Butter London is my opinion offer the best one as it not only looks natural on bare nails but creates a perfect base under even metallic finish nail polishes which are often the worst finishes for highlighting ridges in the nails. The base coat also benefits from preventing the nails been stained overtime with nail polish. Definitely a nail product I couldn't be without! If you're still seeing regular breakouts in your 20's Try: La Roche Posay Effaclar Purifying Cleansing Gel If you have blemish prone skin then you may have tried something from the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo range before, however it may not have been your first thought to try out their cleanser. It looks pretty basic and I think most of us like to stay clear of astringent seeming skincare products these days. But you would be wrong to think this cleanser from La Roche Poshe was similar. The cleansing gel which you can use to cleanse bare skin in the AM and after removing makeup with an oil cleanser in the PM is formulated for oily sensitive skin types being importantly soap-free (not SLS nasties here) and PH balanced (why I initially bought it). The light foaming gel eliminates impurities and excess sebum from the skin while leaving it feeling comfortable yet clean. A perfect cleanser to remedy blemish prone skin. Oh, and it can also be used as a body wash! Never found a daily facial sunscreen light enough for oily skin? Try: The Body Shop Skin defence Multi-Protection Essence SPF 50 If you care about your skincare routine then you should also care about protecting your skin with a high SPF on a daily basis. Tthis can be tricky if you have oily skin that is prone to breakouts as a lot of sunscreens aren't light enough in formula to be used on the face. But thankfully there are a few brands that have come out with some amazing offering in the last few years. Namely, The Body Shop Multi-Protection Essence SPF 50 which is a Korean inspired sunscreen perfect for all skin types especially oiler ones. This high SPF is a light milk consistency that soaks into the skin with ease giving not only protection to the skin but providing a nice base for makeup to be applied onto. The only facial sunscreen my combination skin isn't affected by and doesn't even feel like it's there! Do you have any products that have problem solved for you? Fee xo.
Boy has it been a hot July. And when the heat and humidity rises, my beauty routine becomes ever the more streamlined. And I also bring in some of my summer favourites that are as efficient and/or multitasking as they are enjoyable to use - so read more for this year's summer beauty edit! S K I N Honestly, there are so many days I go without really any skincare at all in this kind of weather. Perhaps not the best thing to admit but in the spirit of candidness ;) On the days that I do bother to treat my face, hydration and simplicity are essentially all I look for >> Caudalie's Vinosource range is just gorgeous. The SOS serum has the same gorgeously light texture as the Vineactiv serum I've repurchased a number of times, and the Moisturising Sorbet (only a hair over £20 might I add, which is incredibly good value) keeps my skin feeling and looking plump - it's so light and hydrating, just perfect for summer. Cult Beauty recently sent over some Disciple skincare and I've fallen in love with the brand. Their Balancing Mist (last mentioned in my current skincare routine) in particular is a beautifully clean, simple formula - only three ingredients - and is the perfect size to throw into your bag for on-the-go hydration. Really affordable too. The Venn Skincare All-in-one Concentrate is a product I'm really excited about. It's a single-step powerhouse of great ingredients, which you can use morning and night, cutting your routine to just a couple of products by the time you've cleansed - a godsend for me right now. With the look of a moisturiser and the feel of a lovely, silky serum, it might just be Korea's latest skincare secret (I've been using this almost 2 weeks now so I'll update you as time goes on!). Top to bottom: Charlotte Tilbury 'pretty glow', Bobbi Brown 'nude pink', Dermalogica primer M A K E U P My cheeks are getting all the attention this summer. My Bobbi Brown blush in Pale Pink has been (almost exclusively) all I've been wearing on my cheeks for the last few months. I've really pushed the boat out and have invested in a slightly different shade ;) Nude Pink is a little lighter, and gives my cheeks a lovely, subtle glow - another beautiful addition to my growing collection. Another beautiful, natural cheek product is Charlotte Tilbury's Glowing Kit (UK | US)- the highlighter-y shade in Pretty Fresh gives this gorgeous, rosy-peach glow with a sheen more than a shimmer - I love it. Summer is the only time I dare wear bronzer as I don't think it suits my fair, wintery skin in the slightest. Bobbi's Shimmer Brick (UK | US) will never see you wrong - the individual strips of colour work beautifully as eyeshadow too for a multi-tasking product for vacationing. As far as the rest of my face goes, there are two staples that immediately come to mind. Dermalogica sent over their Skinperfect Primer, and I'm thoroughly excited about it. It has a balmy, pore-refining texture akin to Benefit's Porefessional but also includes an SPF 30 (again, the fewer products I have to mess with, the better). In the eyeliner department, I've gone from favouring a black wing, to no liner, to a brown non-wing, the latter of which I'm sticking with (for now). Charlotte Tilbury's Barbarella Brown (UK | US) is perfect. Dark and rich in colour, it stays put all day on my notoriously difficult eye shape, I couldn't recommend it enough. JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Reactivate it to view this content. M I S C I must say that Estee Lauder's yearly Bronze Goddess offerings are always a reliably lustworthy release. Their Heatwave highlighters are wildly coveted, but it's the BG fragrance that I've been reaching for this summer. There's a 'warm sand', 'Sorrento summer nights' feel to the scent (more accurately described as bergamot, amber, tiare flower and vanilla..) which lingers in the background throughout the day. I last mentioned the Living Proof Humidity spray in my haircare routine and I'm reaching for it even more in the latest spate of humid weather. For me, no other anti-frizz product works better. I spray liberally throughout my hair in sections (it doesn't weigh it down or make it crunchy) to try and tame my incredibly frizzy flyaways. Eye masks are a great option to block out unwelcome light, especially if you're a really light sleeper (I'd like to sleep past sunrise thank you..) and what better than the Slip Silk Sleep Mask (UK | US) (currently 15% off if you're in the UK!). One of the silkiest, softest things I've felt and such beautiful quality - great for your skin too. JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Reactivate it to view this content. Anddddd, I'm going to round things up there. I'd love to know what your summer beauty favourites are! xx

January might seem like the most obvious time of year for new resolutions but in practice it's quite possibly the worst! You feel the pressure of 'New Year New Start' and 'ruining' that if you slip up, you're mourning the festivities and comfort of the festive season and you've got a to-do list the length of your arm. I don't know if it's a school thing but I've always felt a natural opportunity to reconvene and reboot in September, so today I'm sharing 6 tips for making the most of the rest of your year. Take an opportunity to let go. If you think about this as a new start, now is the time to draw a line on the past, things or people that have bothered you, and any excess baggage you can afford to offload. Letting go of negativity or even projects that have been on the backburner for months, which you secretly know you'll never finish, allows you to start things afresh and be more productive, motivated and organised. Take the time to clean the slate. Implement a self care plan. It's important to take good care of yourself, and I think we all know that - even more so as our immune systems get a knock from colder weather and our moods are affected by the waning daylight hours. But when we're busy, stressed or down putting yourself first can sometimes fall by the wayside. September is a great time to overhaul your mind and body, and keeping a list of self-beneficial ideas handy to throw into my routine gives me things to be happy about when the chips are down, and gets me charged up for autumn, winter and the new year. Your list will be personal to you but it could be anything from a 5 min yoga session in the mornings, indulging in some facial massage, complimenting yourself, having a healthy breakfast, buying yourself something frivolous or indulgent, taking the dog to the park or giving yourself a new, creative project. Learn a new skill. It's easy to have gotten bogged down into a mundane routine over the last 8 months, especially with the responsibilities of a mortgage/rent/work etc. Now that summer is coming to an end, why not take this as a chance to do something new? Whether it's a new skill or experience, something you've always wanted to try, or something really spontaneous, it could be just want you need to stop things feeling humdrum. Gather some fresh inspiration. The winding down of summer and beginning of a new season strikes in me a chance for change, development and a change of path. Something I find really helpful is to gather up a fresh batch of inspiration, whether it's for my home, my diet, my blog or my life goals, to help me figure out where I want to go. Book a holiday! I always like to go away in October. Yes it happily coincides with my birthday but sometimes it's a break you need to properly reconvene and come back to the rest of the year afresh. Reassess your goals. If you made any resolutions in January, look back on them now that we're in September. Are they goals you're a) sticking to? and b) even still relevant? 8 months have passed and things could be quite different now than you might have imagined, so take the opportunity to think about where you want to be, and draft out some new ideas. Do you feel more motivated for change in September? What are your favourite ways to reboot? P.S Have you seen my High End Beauty Picks Worth The Splurge? Don't forget to follow on Bloglovin!
