Cuadros de los 33 grados del R.·.E.·.A.·.A.·. (I) del 1º al 15º. Durante el rito de instalación y apertura de los trabajos, el hermano Experto, a petición del Venerable, extiende en el centro del templo el llamado «cuadro de la Logia», exactamente en medio del tapiz cuadrangular del pavimento mosaico y delimitado por las «tres pequeñas luces», o pilares, de la Sabiduría, la Fuerza y la Belleza. A su vez, la clausura de los trabajos se produce instantes después de que el cuadro sea recogido, de lo que se deduce que éste desempeña un papel de vital importancia en la sacralización del ritual masónico, el cual únicamente adquiere plena validez cuando el cuadro de la Logia está presente. El origen de este cuadro, y del rito que lo acompaña, se remonta a la antigua Masonería operativa, mas en ella, y a diferencia de lo que ocurre en la actualidad, el cuadro era dibujado directamente en el suelo al iniciar los trabajos … De hecho, es suficiente la sola presencia del cuadro -y de las tres pequeñas luces, as&í como de las tres grandes luces, el Libro de la Ley Sagrada, el Compás y la Escuadra- para que una tenida pueda celebrarse con toda legitimidad, aunque faltaran los restantes elementos simbólicos que decoran la Logia. Para entender todo esto, en primer lugar habría que tener en cuenta que el cuadro de la Logia «recapitula» lo que de más fundamental hay en el propio templo masónico.[1] 1º Aprendiz Cuadro del grado de Aprendiz (Rito Escocés), por Jean Beauchard. Nótese la presencia de la rosa y que las manos unidas están en la posición del toque del Aprendiz. Cuadro del grado de Aprendiz en el Rito de Memphis. Notar que en los cuatro vértices del Cuadro hay sendas borlas, lo que es muy habitual en todos los Ritos. Estas cuatro borlas se hacen corresponder a cuatro signos: gutural, pectoral (que se da en el Grado de Compañero), manual (el toque) y pedal o pedestre. Y por medio de los signos se asocian a las cuatro virtudes cardinales: templanza, fortaleza, prudencia y justicia. 2º Compañero Podemos distinguir en este grado, básicamente, dos “estilos” diferentes de Cuadro: el correspondiente al Escocismo (Ritos Escocés, Francés, etc.), y el correspondiente al Rito York. En el primero, se reproduce el Cuadro del Aprendiz, con las modificaciones correspondientes al Templo del Compañero, es decir, la Estrella Flamígera, la letra G, las cinco gradas, etc. En los Ritos York y Emulación, el Cuadro se basa en la escalera de caracol, y muestra a un Candidato a punto de ascender por la misma hacia la Cámara del Medio. A esto hay que agregarle: los Cuadros muy antiguos, que no hacían distinción de grados y mezclaban símbolos del Aprendiz, el Compañero y el Maestro y, los Cuadros muy modernos, en los que algunos Hermanos han dejado volar su imaginación y creatividad artísticas. Durante el siglo XVIII, el Cuadro en sí mismo era llamado «Logia». «El Gran Maestre, seguido por sus Oficiales y algunos dignos clérigos, formaban en orden alrededor de la Logia, la cual está colocada en el Centro, cubierta con satén blanco» (Preston, Sobre la Consagración de una Nueva Logia, 1861). «Entonces, la Logia es colocada en el centro de un almohadón de terciopelo carmesí» (Preston, Sobre la Dedicación de las Salas Masónicas, 1861). «En la procesión había cuatro Tejadores portando la Logia cubierta con satén blanco» (Libro de las Constituciones, 1784). Usado en los Estados Unidos hacia 1870. Es muy extraño, porque contiene símbolos del Maestro y de los Altos Grados. Quizás pertenezca a la fraternidad de los «Old Fellows» («Viejos Compañeros») y no a la Masonería propiamente dicha. En versión antigua y moderna, que incluye símbolos del Aprendiz y del Compañero. Nótese que sobre el piso en que se apoyan las columnas está representada la marcha del Compañero. 3º Maestro Como dijimos, se coloca entre el Altar de los Juramentos y el ataúd que se encuentra en el centro del Templo. En general, podemos distinguir para el grado de Maestro tres grandes estilos de Cuadro: los más antiguos, que combinan símbolos de los tres grados; los Cuadros que se elaboraron a partir del siglo XIX, en el que todo está centrado en el ataúd de Hiram y los símbolos asociados (la escuadra y el compás, la acacia, etc.) y; los Cuadros actuales, en los que los artistas despliegan a veces gran imaginación. Un Cuadro muy bello, con símbolos de los tres grados. No aparece el ataúd, pero la escuadra y el compás están en la posición del Maestro. Un Cuadro de gran calidad artística, y profundamente simbólico. Nótese la insistencia en el número cinco (por los Cinco Puntos del Compañerismo) y, hacia abajo, el círculo con el punto en el centro y sobre él un círculo con cinco puntos que forman un pentágono. Algunos símbolos, como la piedra clave, anticipan el Arco Real. Es de 1819. Un Cuadro moderno, en forma de vitraux, en el que se destaca la “columna del medio”, lo que parece remitir a un simbolismo Cabalístico (sefirótico). Cuadros del Rito Francés, contemporáneos. 4º Maestro Secreto Cuadro del Maestro Secreto, en la colección de la Gran Logia Regular de Inglaterra El Cuadro del Cuarto Grado, Supremo Consejo de Brasil, 1925 5º Maestro Perfecto Según Lavagnini. Cuadro de la Logia “La Perfecta Unión”, Mons, Francia, Siglo XVIII 6º Secretario Íntimo 7º Preboste y Juez Cuadro de un grado no determinado, pero que parece representar la Leyenda del Secretario Íntimo. 8º Intendente de Edificios Cuadro de un grado no determinado, pero en el que aparece la Triple I del Intendente de Edificios. Obsérvese la semejanza con el Intendente de Edificios. 13º Arco Real Un Cuadro muy antiguo del Arco Real, obra de L. Dermott (1783). Cabe aclarar que en esta época los “Ritos” (Escocés, York, etc.) todavía no estaban constituidos. En este Cuadro, del año 1753 (Rito York), vemos que, a través de la Piedra Clave, desciende La Iluminación. Por ello, la piedra clave, esotéricamente, es el centro psíquico más elevado del ser humano. Cuadro del Arco Real según el Rito York Cuadro del Arco Real, Grado 11° del Rito Primitivo de Namur en 33 grados (1770). Imagen en la página de la Gran Logia Regular de Inglaterra. En una de las variantes de este grado, se dice que, antes de la llegada de Hiram, los trabajos del Templo habían sido dirigidos por un pariente de Salomón llamado Cavellum. Cuando se intentó levantar una puerta al Norte del Templo, Cavellum pretendió equivocadamente cerrar el arco con una piedra cúbica. De forma tal que las dovelas del arco cayeron sobre él y lo mataron. Por eso, al Norte del Templo no había puertas. Y cuando Hiram fue asesinado, no pudo escapar por ese lado. En otra variante, un Compañero encuentra casualmente una piedra de forma extraña, y la presenta como propia. Los Supervisores del trabajo no pueden aprobarla, pero encuentran en ella una “oculta belleza”. El Compañero tampoco puede justificar que sea su propia obra. Finalmente, se descubre que era una piedra clave tallada por el propio Hiram Abiff, y que contenía su marca. 14º Maestro de la Bóveda Sagrada Logia de Perfección de Mons, Bélgica, siglo XVIII. Pueden apreciarse en él símbolos de todos los grados anteriores. Cuadro del Grado de Maestro. La idea de este toque es demostrar que se está culminando y, a la vez, superando, la Maestría Simbólica.
