The Mercy by Beverly Lewis ‘Tis a gift to be simple. The Amish people have always fascinated me and I loved this book, which is book 3 of The Rose Trilogy. Unfortunately, I hadn’t read the first two books, but that didn’t really matter as this book stands on it’s own and enough information was given about past events to be able to understand what is going on with the characters. Rose is the main character, a devout Amish young woman, who feels she might end up never marrying. The Amish usually marry in their late teens and she must be around 20 to 21. She is happy living on the family farm with her parents and grandparents and she handles a lot of the household chores as her mother is paralyzed from the waist down due to a buggy accident. Eventually, her brother and sister-in-law introduce her to a nice eligible Amish man who lives five miles from her and they start going out on buggy rides. She wants to stay true to her Amish beliefs and is unhappy when she finds out that her boyfriend is enjoying some worldly pleasures such as owning a car. Rose and her family go through many trials and tribulations during the course of this book. The simple life can become as complicated as the life of the English people. The story comes together nicely and I don’t want to give it away, so I will just recommend this book to you. I received this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for writing a review. Sunday morning we discovered that someone had smashed out the driver's side window of our truck and stolen a tool box and our camera. What a bum deal! At first we didn't realize that our camera had been in the truck also, but it dawned on us the next day. So, I scanned these pictures. We have been busy looking for a 5th wheel camper and Monday we found one! Yesterday, we picked it up. In the mean time, I decided it was about time I used this camping fabric (which I bought in California in June) and I made new pillowcases for our new (to us) 5th wheel. I had found a piece of some other camping fabric, so I am making a table topper with the camping fabric in the center. I scanned it below so you can see what the fabric, corners and borders look like. You can see 2/3 of this little item. It is a toilet tank topper! I made one of these for my bathroom earlier this year and now I made this one for the guest bathroom, which is decorated in a patriotic theme. I also made several other sawtooth stars - they and the ones above measure 4" from point to point. I love these stars. Today will be another busy day. We're going to take a bunch of stuff out to our new camper and try to figure out what other things we might need. I plan to make new curtains for the bedroom. The colors in the camper are grey and beige, so I need to look at my stash to see what I can come up with for curtains. Maybe something with a little color to it! We want to give it a test run next week for a few days. I can't wait to see Jonah's reaction when we take it to his house!

This Giveaway is now closed. ***************************************** I got an itch the other day to make new pillow covers for the couch. When I started thinking about it, the old covers I made have been in our living room for about a year now. Once I got over the shock of realizing that was an entire YEAR ago...seriously it feels like a few months at most, I figured no time like the present. I decided I wanted to go a little simpler than all that intricate piecing like last time, and just find some complimenting prints, to whip up a few super simple easy covers to spruce up and summer-ize the room. In perusing the home dec section of Joann's, I came across a few fun prints that worked well together, and after realizing they were 50% off I knew it was meant to be. These seriously took about a half an hour per cover, my kind of project. Like I mentioned last week, I accidentally bought regular zippers instead of invisible zippers, and after getting home, realizing my mistake, and muttering a few curse words, I decided to make the best with what I had, and searched my favorite blogs for how to use these zippers without them showing. I came across this zipper flap tutorial from Sew Mama Sew, and decided to give it a go. I must say, I absolutely love these zipper flaps, and may go this route more often, especially when working with a super simple pillow front. I also picked up about a yard and a half of this natural linen-y looking fabric, that really is a home dec weight fabric, and thought it was far too boring to just make a simple cover out of, and consulted with my pinterest pillow board for what to do to spruce up this boring neutral color. I have been wanting to try this V & Co Faux Pleated Pillow tutorial for some time, and thought it would be perfect using the neutral, with a strip or two of color from one of the other pillows, instead of varying the color. I like my pillow covers to be nice and snug (I cut my fabric pieces at 19 1.2" square for a 20" form), so I ended up having to use a little fusible web on the pleats on either end to help keep them in place. It worked like a charm, and this is one of my favorite favorite pillows ever. While I was at Joann's I also picked up a pretty greyish nylon-y fabric (because I can never buy just what I went in for), with the intentions of maybe making this fun ruffle pillow at some point. Well in my pillow making madness, "at some point" turned into now. This pillow took far more material than I had thought it would, so my only regret is I didn't have enough fabric to make the "base" square out of the same material, and at some spots you can see the material under the ruffles. I'm sure I'm the only one that would think to notice that, but it bugs me a little. Oh well, live and learn. I have enough material to make 3 more pillow covers to go on the opposite couch, but I am really loving how this nice and simple, quick and easy project makes a big change in the look of the room. I don't think I've quite gotten the "pillow bug" out of my system, so stay tuned for more!
I wanted to put my Valentine's pillow covers away now that February is over. I decided to make a few more pillow covers using my Central Park charm packs. I usually don't do super matchy, but I just really like this fabric. It's surprising to me how much I like it considering I'm not super girly, and I consider this fabric reasonably girly. Sometimes it's nice to have something pretty. I do think the purple makes it girly to me. The second pillow which I only used blue, yellow and orange is much less girly to me. I like them all anyway. This one is based on Shelley's design from The Rebel Homemaker.

Skidding in at the last minute! Time got away from me - I wanted to make another card for the Moxie Fab World's Mixy Matchy challenge. For this one I used papers from Basic Grey's Mint Julep and the text paper is from October Afternoon's Thrift Shop. The sketch is one I've used before and saved on my Pinterest sketches board. Stamps are Hero Arts Let's Garden Silhouette and Verve's Bloom & Grow set. I added a die-cut doily (MFT Die-Namics Decorative Doily) and some roses from Michael's.

Tikkautin peiton Töölön tilkkupajassa, mikä olikin hyvä ratkaisu tähän työhön. Pinnasta tuli tosi, tosi kaunis. Tästä peitosta tuli heti ehdoton suosikki! Kokoa on 184cm x 124cm. Nopeaksi ommeltavaksi työn tekee se, että suuri osa on ihan perusneliötä. Kaaretkin on melko isoja ja loivia. Oikein mukava ommeltava. Mieluinen tausta oli taas hankala löytää. Kaapissa oli sopivan kokoinen pala violettiä Marimekkoa, joten käytin sen, vaikkei se ensin ihan ykkösvaihtoehto ollutkaan. Kyllä se siihen passaa. Sovittelin ensin värillisiä vaihtoehtoja reunakanttiin mutta palloihin ja pilkkuihin päädyin. Kiitokset tuhannesti kaikille mukavista kommenteista ja runsaasta osallistumisesta pussukka-arvontaan! Linkattu Quilt storyyn! **** My latest quilt is finished! This is a pattern from the book Quilter's Mixology by Angela Pingel. All of the patterns in the book have curvy seams. The flower fabric in the middle was a good start for choosing colors. I really like these colors for a change. The fabric selection includes some new and old ones. I got this one long arm quilted at Töölön tilkkupaja. I think it was a good choice for this project instead of quilting myself. This quilt became my favorite one right away! Size is 184x124cm. A good backing was hard to find but I had a suitable piece of Marimekko's purple fabric in my stash. First I tried to match some colorful fabric for the binding but I ended up with a white one with dots. Thousand thanks for everyone who participated to the give away and I got so many nice comments! Meet Granny Patch! A modern patchwork take on the traditional crocheted granny square. . I've had this design in my head and drafted on my computer for a few years now. I've played with it a little here and a little there and I decided last fall that this would be the first Lo & Behold pattern of 2023. Better yet, we would officially release it on my Granny's birthday, March 15th. This cozy, vintage inspired quilt evokes all the warm nostalgic feelings and is probably one of my favorite recent Lo & Behold quilt patterns. :) It's a mix and match type pattern so you have lots of opportunity to create different combinations and have fun with it. You're going to love sewing this together! . One thing that I love about Granny Patch (if I do say so myself) is that the blocks are strip pieced, meaning you are NOT dealing with individual squares of fabric. Instead, you're sewing strips together in a certain order then cutting them apart to create the rows of your blocks. (Can I get an amen??) There are also nesting seams so you don't have to fuss or stress about everything perfectly lining up as you are sewing. It really is a fun block to assemble! . . . I don't know about you, but I always love seeing crocheted afghans and blankets folded up on the back of a chair or at the foot of a bed. I wish I could say that I had an heirloom afghan that inspired this quilt, but after watching all seasons of Parks & Rec about 10 times, seeing one on the back of Ann's couch over and over definitely made me fall in love with the granny square. Then when we moved to Black Mountain and started leasing studio space above the Black Mountain Yarn Shop, I found myself surrounded by even more granny squares, which got me that much more excited about having a

A flash to the past with this colorful mix of 1930s print fabric. I used a traditional 9-patch block but it is set on-point to make it a bit more gorgeous to look at. This quilt is a twin size 66"x 88" pictured on a queen bed. The drape off the sides/bottom will be about 8" off each side. It has a thick, warm premium 100% cotton batting to really keep you warm. The top quilting has an off white thread with X's stitched through the colored 9-patch blocks. The white blocks have a simple flower. Along the outer edge there are whimsical patterns in the triangles. The backing fabric is a bright white. The colorful binding is machine top stitched for added durability.
